Based poster detected. I used spirit summons in my first few playthroughs, but I found doing a no spirit summons run to be a lot more fun after a certain point
Using a Spirit Summon is like medium mode, because it still soaks aggro. That said, just using a spirit summon definitely harder than using player summons. I'm just a turboautist when it comes to from games so I found using no summons to be the most rewarding. Malenia's moveset is absolutely ridiculous, and she can combo from just about any move into any other move, so she really forces you to be on your toes.
I also don't want to use any summons or spirits on 1st clear of a boss. So I'll only summon a spirit if it's another fucking ulcer tree spirit or something after I already killed like 6 of them 1v1.
I beat her with partisan + Ice spear weapon art
its been a bit over a year but iirc its pretty easy to just roll / poke her with the art and throw a fire bomb or 2
the attack animation on the weapon art is very quick and has a decent range + staggers her, which is why this is easy
How the hell were you even "supposed" to do it? It's virtually impossible to avoid so many of those attacks were she basically teleports across the entire arena, and gets back all her health even when blocking. Doubly so if you're actually trying to find any kind of openings inbetween. I beat her on NG and NG+ but with Rollo and Tiche respectively doing most of the work.
I found the Mimic is actually not the best spirit for this, because then you can't use Woe of Shabriri to increase its survivability (or rather, the Mimic seems to get the same talisman, nullifying the effect.)
>Woe of Shabriri
I think you need to have the Talisman on when you use the Mimic but then you can swap it off of yourself and the Mimic will still have his on.
The way I used it was the other way around, drawing her aggro, while the spirit could attack freely, but I guess that trick might work too. A bit bothersome to do every try though.
It's not impossible, most of her normals are tricky to learn, but they're 100% dodgeable. It's just that you're basically playing simon says with her where you need to dodge in a set direction as she does her strings. Waterfowl is the real killer that I think a lot of people admit is properly bullshit and just sucks to deal with.
Her first phase is unironically easier than the second, because A, after her big flower bomb, you can just pebble her for free damage, or comet azure her to just melt half of her phase 2 life in one go, and B, her phase 2 "ultimate attack" with her hovering and sending her shadow clones, is way, WAY easier to dodge than Waterfowl.
The only summons I stuck with for my first playthrough was Latenna, since the process of acquiring her felt so much more in depth, she felt like the "canon" summon to me, but mechanically, she wasn't much help. I used her thinking that I was just gonna use her to occasionally pull aggro from me if I want to take a breath, since she barely does any damage anyways, but I ultimately beat Malenia the first time in a run where I straight up forgot to Summon and just locked in.
Well, that was definitely beyond me. Unless I was already out of reach I don't think I ever managed to avoid that waterfowl attack, her slashes just seemed to cover the entire screen, and I couldn't see shit. Both times I beat her second form the same way, got a really good string of hits in early prompting the second flower bomb before she had time to do that attack.
Some modders added malenia in sekiro, and it just feels right as a boss there, igniting rumours of her(or just her moveset) being a part of the cancelled sekiro dlc.
guys, maybe, when you are all alone, litterally playing against a computer, it is ok to just play and not keep the mindset of being in a competition against imaginary other players. you can even allow yourselves to experiment the things YOU want to try and not what some Gankeriggers expect of you on how to play "properly" against nobody at all but yourself
btw I used summons because that shit was annoying after several tries and I couldn't bear hearing that same line over and over again. Didn't even find it that strong, she'd just pretty much stab it dead quite quickly
I did! Its true. It was less the summon and more the Night Comet spell however. I could tell I beat her because I got some magic needle that you can only get by beating her.
>walk into boss room >ring in my based mimic bro >drink the buff sippy >cast terra magica >cast Renalas full moon >drink the magic sippy >cast azure comet >use the R2 of the Dark Moon Greatsword repeadedtly >demigod felled
>Want to play soulsgames >All playstyles I like are cheating
Honestly playing them correctly is just boring to me. Like I kinda can get how it feels cool, but dying to one-two hits is tiring and feels grindy.
The Souls series reputation makes it a dick waving contest. You can't just beat the game however you want, you have to beat the game without using a core feature, you have to beat the game without investing in specific skills, you have to beat the game using a specific loadout that the person issuing the challenge couldn't even beat the game with. If you defeated the Elden Beast you beat the game, that's it. By the time the next souls game comes out it won't matter, the same monsterous homosexual who said you didn't beat the game cause you used a core feature is going to be the same giant flaming homosexual who says you didn't beat the game cause you used [insert item devs explicitly added for you to use]. There's literally nothing stopping you from lying either. Nothing in the game stats, trophies, or other public ways that display what you did in game will say otherwise. Someone who beat the game naked, using nothing but their fists for a weapon at 100% completion will have the exact same result as someone who farmed their way to maxed out stats, used the most overpowered combination of weapons and armor and got to 100%.
tldr: OP is an obese homosexual that needs validation online by naggers that hate him
Lies of P is a better Dark Souls game. Continue.
Not saying this is you, but on the thread subject, he thinks he "beat" Lies of P, but he skipped Nameless Puppet
More like he beat Laxasia/Puppet, but with this
I didn't use a summon, why would I need easy mode?

Does it count if I used a Spirit Ash that wasn't Mimic Tear? The cute Jellyfish accompanied me throughout my journey.

If it's in the game, it's fair. Fuck your homosexual hard mode challenges.
Jokes on you homosexual, I didn't even fight her.
>he thinks he had sex even though he used a condom
LOL
I beat it first try with max lvl mimic.
Was one of 3 bosses left and just wanted to be done with the game.
*checks throphies*
Yeah, confirmed I did. Seethe.
you used summons, didn't you squidward
I don't find purposely nerfing myself in games fun
>He beaten a boss that shouldnt be in a souls game, with a gimmick that also shouldnt be in a souls game
Two wrongs that cancel each other
Ganker told me that Malenia is a canceled concept of Tomoe from a canceled Sekiro DLC.
Some modders added malenia in sekiro, and it just feels right as a boss there, igniting rumours of her(or just her moveset) being a part of the cancelled sekiro dlc.

I Let Him Solo Her
I summoned for every boss and I beat the game
>walk into boss room
>ring in my based mimic bro
>drink the buff sippy
>cast terra magica
>cast Renalas full moon
>drink the magic sippy
>cast azure comet
>use the R2 of the Dark Moon Greatsword repeadedtly

Soulslikes are overrated redditor bait
Pic unrelated.

You're supposed to play however you like.
Pro-tip: Bosses die when their health reaches zero.

How the fuck are you rolling through the waterfowl dance?
i did beat her, she even told me how strong i was
