Beat her fair and square with the Marias sword my second playthrough but my first I cometed her ass to death at the start of phase 2. She’s especially disheartening because every frickup is more work to do but build into your primary weapon and it’s far from impossible the old fashioned way. cept you can block, like ever, so build accordingly
It's the ritualistic ribbing you're going to get when learning the fight, Anon. Truth is, Malenia is a fricking trash fight that doesn't belong in a Souls game moreso she does in something like Sekiro. It really just comes down to trial/error until you have her entire moveset memorized.

That's literally never how Souls bosses have ever worked outside of literal puzzle bosses, Anon. Unless you are choosing to play hyper defensively, all Souls bosses have let you be aggressive as frick so long as you dodged their attacks. Malenia forces you to play semi-passive, and there is only ONE correct method for dodge rolling her attacks. The fight is pretty queer and actively requires you to fail in order to know there is a "fail state" attack you need to worry about. No other Souls boss is this insta-gib.
Take the INT pill.
Enemies (including Malenia) literally don't dodge Night Comet, and anything standing still for a long period of time (like blooming Malenia) is a free Comet Azur.
Never played it or any FS game, but want to get all 3 ends with different playstyles, was going to do wizard for the moon god, samurai for the Frenzied flame, and want to do a faith paladin build to become the Elden Lord.
What makes a good build like that? Do you have overpowered moves and weapons like comet Azur and RoB? What would the equivalent of those be for a faith paladin?
Anonymous
Realistically you're going to end up with a strength/faith hybrid with most of your casting being buffs. If you want big dick attack invocations you're pretty much limited to certain pyromancies, but luckily fire is a pretty good element. You can get a spell that's basically a tracking version of forbidden sun from the evergaol in southwest liurnia. Offensive holy invocations almost universally suck ass for PVE. Lightning bolts are good for poking at range.

Yes, "Placidusax's ruin" I believe, although obviously that requires, you know, reaching and defeating Placidusax, so more of a PVP toy, but pretty fricking good, even among dragon incantations (though for whatever reason it doesn't benefit from the dragon seal bonus) >Also, I heard you could get the attack Elden Beast uses for yourself, the mass of falling stars?
Yes, elden stars. Interestingly enough you can access it deeproot depths, so you only have to beat Radahn to get it, but it's not very good.
Yeah it's not the best. Flame of the Fell God is way more reliable lol.
Pacidusax is the 2 headed dragon isn't he?

Faith weapons tend to trend more strength than dex. Faith also gets some very good utility spells, like "flame cleanse me" that lets you get rid of scarlet rot for almost no FP.

Unfortunately for faith players, holy damage is only really worth a damn in the midgame. 75% of the bosses in early and endgame are massively strong against it. The good news is that if you can do holy damage you can almost certainly do fire or lightning as well, so bring the right tool for the right job, infuse your primary weapon accordingly. Also worth mentioning that plenty of spells like the bestials or aspects of the crucible do physical or elemental damage instead/ on top of holy.

I finished with a FTH caster when the game first came out, honestly your damage potential is less but you'll have a lot of utility. Healing. HoT, damage and protection buffs, etc... For a more paladin style there are a lot of good thematically appropriate weapons and from what I've been told the most holy looking spells got buffed to actually do decent damage now. I'll defer to other anons who actually used their weapons for advice there. Faith I don't think has the overpowered moves as azur or RoB but you have a lot of good options, hell as a FTH caster despite having to use up half my slots in buffs I still had an offensive option for every situation.
Realistically you're going to end up with a strength/faith hybrid with most of your casting being buffs. If marika's then ask yourself if you really need those points when you're over level 150 with more than enough FP and FAI. the extra points are practically a drop in the bucket with high penalties in return >Frenzied flame seal
meme seal that's only good for twink builds and fence sitters. you'd be better of with the erdtree seal or starter one since you'd require investing into DEX, STR and INT for good scaling

The shitty command grab felt like it was from a different game, holy shit.
This butthole is just running at you until he finally starts the grab.
I just bonked him with my big stick. What a fricking moron
why not get cheat engine at that point if you're trivializing the game that you don't even have to play it, or uninstall the game. How is the game even fun knowing you can one tap any boss without engaging them
Ice spear weapon skill literally cheeses every single boss in the game
on an int build it kills morgott in 10 seconds, like 20 seconds for palace mogh
I used it to carry noobs as a phantom
>both of godfrey's phase 2 grabs have obscene tracking and travel time, making them more of an irritant than an actual attack to dodge
Why? Why allow these two blemishes on an otherwise fantastic fight?
Run backwards and stay clear of the first two whirls, then dodge forward as she lunges across you on the third whirl so she ends up jumping overhead and missing you. There, problem solved.
Can't say I have the experience with INT stuff but I feel like it's the same principle as a FTH caster. Slinging spells should keep you at enough of a distance to dodge the first two swings(considering I was using beast claw's low range fairly certain most INT spells would give you more room to breathe), then you just dodge towards on the third and dodge out for the 4th. The timing is not as strict as you'd think I believe in you.
Man, arcane builds are so cool. Getting powerful poison, bleed, and sleep and figuring out when to use which is cool. The weapons with natural bleed that make for good occult weapons offers a neat array of stuff to use. You got scavenger's curved sword, you got grave scythe, you got uchigatana, you got flamberge. Rot/Blood talismans that boost your damage when you proc them are cool. You get hybrid casting shit with both incantations and sorceries thanks to dragon communion seal + albinauric's staff. It's just such a cool build, it offers so many awesome options. And yeah I know people will rag on le dual bleed seppuku (and rightfully so) but arcane builds offer so much more than that.
scale armoe or bloodhound knight maybe? I remember running into the same peoblem because I hate the duck feet
Hm, I just tried em all and I feel like all of them are too thin compared to the body. I fricking wish the Tree Sentinel set are silver, the greaves would've been perfect for the armor.
I like the duck feet...
Scaled greaves go well with it, though I personally find them a bit skinny for heavier chest pieces. Might try prelate. Prelate has two looks, one where it's absurdly bulky and looks awful, and another where it has a smaller, more reasonable level of bulk. The less bulky version gets matched with armor that has leg coverings usually, so I think the unaltered BK should do it.
I like the look of blaidd's
And as this anon says, Blaidd's. Blaidd's greaves go well with all sorts of armor.
>Scaled greaves go well with it, though I personally find them a bit skinny for heavier chest pieces
It is, just looks wrong. Blaidd's greaves also looks too skinny for.
>Might try prelate. Prelate has two looks, one where it's absurdly bulky and looks awful, and another where it has a smaller, more reasonable level of bulk. The less bulky version gets matched with armor that has leg coverings usually, so I think the unaltered BK should do it.
Just tried it, I got the second look alright but the color matching is kinda bad ngl. I might've to go with the goat legs at this point, I can stand the jojo shoes more compared to the duck feet.

Godfrey's grab is kino but what the frick is this hitbox
The shitty command grab felt like it was from a different game, holy shit.
This butthole is just running at you until he finally starts the grab.
I just bonked him with my big stick. What a fricking moron
I would like this boss a lot better if he wasn't fighting me to try to make up with his troony ex-wife.
>GAMMA CRUSH
>GAMMA CRUSH
>HOAH!
why not get cheat engine at that point if you're trivializing the game that you don't even have to play it, or uninstall the game. How is the game even fun knowing you can one tap any boss without engaging them
because you know you maximized your power within the rules of the game in a way that allows you to do one shot everything
Ice spear weapon skill literally cheeses every single boss in the game
on an int build it kills morgott in 10 seconds, like 20 seconds for palace mogh
I used it to carry noobs as a phantom
I feel kind of bad abusing this skill but it fit for my theme so well. And it looked really fricking cool when I used it on the Twinblade.
it's great, idk how hoarfrost got nerfed instantly but no one cares about ice spear, shit is busted
Yeah? I comet azured him and he died, gg ez
>both of godfrey's phase 2 grabs have obscene tracking and travel time, making them more of an irritant than an actual attack to dodge
Why? Why allow these two blemishes on an otherwise fantastic fight?
Dlc wen
As soon as everyone gives up, just like ringed city
He's one of the easiest bosses. Only bosses I had any real trouble with is fire giant and Malenia.
Not a problem, I have the REAL best spell always slotted
My INT/no BHS/no summons run ended when I got to Malenia. just not good enough to dodge WFD
Run backwards and stay clear of the first two whirls, then dodge forward as she lunges across you on the third whirl so she ends up jumping overhead and missing you. There, problem solved.
You can do it with the Carian Shield with the talisman. You can block the first section, and then it's pretty easy to roll the rest.
Everyone keeps talking about how op summons are, I'm upto the academy and I still don't know how to use them. Can they only be used in certain areas??
Yes there will be a little tombstone looking icon on the left of your screen. Black knife tiche at +10 can just about solo the final boss lol
Quick, what are some greaves that goes well with unaltered Banished Knight armor? Aside from the obvious duck feet greaves I mean.
I like the look of blaidd's
Hm, I just tried em all and I feel like all of them are too thin compared to the body. I fricking wish the Tree Sentinel set are silver, the greaves would've been perfect for the armor.
scale armoe or bloodhound knight maybe? I remember running into the same peoblem because I hate the duck feet
I think I found my baby, Blackflame Monk greaves. The color matching is almost spot on and it doesn't look too skinny for me.
I used Comet Azur to finish him off.
>Not using any spirit summon so it aggros the boss first before casting comet azur since the AI cant dodge a spell from something its not targeting
This is your first fromsoft game isnt it?
I'll get her with Black Blade eventually.
troony Souls sisters are at again
reminder that the beast champtiom chest piece has a secret extra color and design for the cape
>>"Heh, i'll just use comet azur like with every other boss to win instan-ACK"
Elden DOGSHIT Ring will always be DOGSHIT, doesn't matter how many times you zoomers shill it.
I miss pre nerf Adula's.
>Overleveled as frick
Yeah you sure showed me.
>faith/str build without using the damaging incantations
>only cerulean potions
>early game is using urgent heal for like 20% restoration with a 2 and a half second cast
Haha...
>I'll just use comet azur like with every other boss
Not for this guy, I pulled out my magic cestus as a sign of respect.
