Nexus feels more like a sandbox to try out crazy party compositions than a proper EO game. I wish the difficulty was Untold tier so you'd have something substantial to test those against. The party building carries the game, enough to still make it fun, despite how badly they flubbed the stratum choice.
She's mid tier at best. Abyssal god and both versions of Yggdrasil Core are definitely harder, U2 Ur Child possibly as well. The main reason being that she is trivial to warp to and save scum panic to eliminate her gay ass free reset gimmick.
Also, the rest of the game is just above IV tier of difficulty
abyssal princess is one the hardest boss in the series m8
It feels like every discussion of EO games' difficulty outside of 4 being the easiest is coloured immensely by each player's subjective experience with the parties they used. The one I chose for Nexus (Highlander, Harbinger, Shogun, Zodiac, Arcanist) demolished everything in the game with not that much difficulty, but Abyssal Princess is a massive wall that I doubt said party has any way to cross. Looking at what other players do to beat her, I see mostly parties involving Heroes that deal astronomical amounts of damage compared to what I was seeing in my own playthrough. On the other hand, some of the other EO games have superbosses that are totally feasible to take down with suboptimal parties/without "cheese strats".
If you try to fight her fairly (lol at fighting superbosses fairly) you're going to die horribly because her purge turns harbinger and arcanist into empty slots. The fact that she can turn any support class into an empty slot is bullshit. So you don't fight her fairly. You save scum to land panic on her then burst her down. Your comp is far from ideal for burst but honestly that's kinda your fault. I did two entirely different parties and both killed every boss from 6th labyrinth onwards in 5 turns. I rate her mid tier because half the super bosses can't be panicked and burst damage isn't such a no brainer in other games that don't have 19 classes to make synergistic parties from.
First party was Highlander/Nightseeker/protector//Gunner/War Magus
Second was Hero/Imperial/Harbinger/sovereign/Zodiac. Both totally different, both very lethal.
Notice how I didn't say anything about "fighting fair", you bet your ass I did everything in my power to make the party I chose work to its strengths after first assembling it at the start of the game. It just turned out its potential caps far short of what would be needed to defeat the game's strongest enemy. Meanwhile as you said, the parties you chose had an easier time and this is exactly my point, it's colouring your perception just the same as my party choices colour mine.

Sure it colors my perception but you have to rate the bosses based on the game's average party building options. My point by showing two entirely different parties, 10/19 classes, is that on average the boss isn't that hard unless you have a poor comp for it. I'm not going to rank Ur Child based on one of the weaker parties I used against it (highlander/ronin/protector//medic/survivalist), and Star Devourer has huge discrepancies in difficulty based on party comp ranging from a braindead quick kill to needing to grind through a painfully long battle because your damage isn't high enough. My way of ranking comes from having played each game a minimum of twice to full completion, on average 4 times I think.
The real superboss was trying not to put the game down halfway through.
It took me around 90 hours to finish the main quest. There was absolutely no way in hell I was going to feel like stepping foot in the postgame stratum. Still haven't all these years later.
>mirage sword >charge image >accel drive >brave heart + regiment rave while afterimage casts accel drive >dark image procs so you can repeat the turn again
Hero was fun
Nexus was a quick kill setup paradise >Sov/Harb core + imperial >buffs/debuffs >Sov/Harb force breaks >charge edge > Accel Drive >bonus, make imp sub nightseeker, have ailment on enemy, now they get bonus damage and follow trace might give you a second charge edge boosted accel drive on a force break turn
Every time Koshiro tweets about how he's "still hoping" they'll approach him to continue doing music for the series I lose a little more faith in Next Stage.

Not better but it's a really good game if you have an open mind and you're not nitpicking on how the UI is different on how X or Y is not like EO and yadda yadda.
Thats it. You've done it now OP. I'm making a game where a soccer star gets isekied to a new world where all the characters are tiny like your picture. He uses his amazing kicking ability to punt these c**ts and be the hero they deserve.
It's been so long I don't even care to see another EO. It would have to be a massive overhaul to distinguish itself from the others because the games are barely different from each other. If you play EO1 and then play EO Nexus you would think that's just the new game; that's how little is improved across each. I hate not knowing the values of my skill investments and being stuck with them and repeating battles so often. At a minimum enemies should be rendered in a new game if ever that happens. What a waste of great music
This seems so weird to me, because there's a clear change in design philosophy. The first game still has the most extreme and challenging labyrinth layouts, but fairly crude puzzles and frickall balance. By EO5 you have intricate puzzle design, a wide range of viable builds, but also a sense fo work being done to formula, with few surprises in the place you epxlored. The objective "improvements" (animated 3D models for example) are all actually irrelevant
I'm using a team with Hero/Imperial/Medic/Gunner/Harbinger and pretty much beat everything in the game except True Jormungandr (I used cheese strategy for the Abyssal Princess).
Is it even possible to beat him in a straightforward fight or do I need to reclass someone to Nightseeker for binds and ailments?
Ronin/Hero/Sovereign//Gunner/Medic, it took me six tries, some respeccing and over 60 turns of constant back and forth but I was able to defeat Abyssal Princess without any cheese strats, my strategy was having Sov subclassed with Harbinger and Medic with Arcanist so I had two debuffers to keep her Atk down as often as possible. Medic was the true MVP both against her and True Jorm because of Overheal, very underrated skill that allowed to survive hits I wouldn't be able to even when fully buffed, to the point I was able to beat True Jorm on my first try.
>eov >get to the final story boss >we must defeat this to save the world >set up buster cannon to nuke his face with the angriest caliber round >fire >he explodes >we explode >everything is dead and exploded >you lose

Etrian Odyssey Nexus, a game you shouldn't play unless you have already played the rest of the series since it's nothing but references to previous games.

And in 2021, Atlus said they had 10 titles in development, with Hiraoka saying ReFantasy was making slow progress and Etrian would have news as soon as possible.
any games to help us in the EO drought? i would recommend Potato Flowers in Full Bloom. a very short and sweet dungeon crawler with alot of heart. the guy put in alot of work to make the journey breathe.
Definitely. I never expected a game called The Dark Spire to have such a good sense of humor. The entire 4th floor was especially hilarious. I'd pay good money to see the incredible Erotic Panda, hornless unicorn, and Man with two brains
The regular soundtrack is unforgettable but have you listened to the classic version?
it's not that great tbh, once you reach floor5 or so the only good 'strategy' is spamming mass magic
there's only one standard party build in early game unless you want to make the game harder for yourself and you can get stuck in few places if you don't use guide because of bad design
These kinds of games were never about combat strategy in the first place, just look at Wizardry. Besides, I like how enemies are on an even playing field and have access to the same exact bullshit as you.
You might call it bad design but I call it proper obtuse DnD nonsense. The item puzzles fit the kind of atmosphere they're going for perfectly. Also you can just save whenever so it's not like trial and error is hard to do.
But I guess if you're not used to these kinds of games they can be a bit unfair, yeah.
I disagree, making crazy nonsense parties work is the best feeling in these games. Like putting an alchemist in the front line and going to town with palms.
Palm alchemists are fun but you need a pretty specific party to get the most out of them. They're unusable without beasts because they get crumpled easily even through front guard, and you really want a chase Landy to make full use of them.
You access the classic OST through the in-game menu so there shouldn't be a problem with that at all. Don't have to unlock it or anything.
Just emulate for your modern display. Luckily the game doesn't use the touch screen at all.
Oh lel
Not as far as I'm aware. Might have to look into romhacks if you want that.
You'll have more than enough opportunity to fully experience both display modes if you end up not finding a solution.
This game has arguably worse combat system with the way the classes and skill works and how basically things can be an auto attack fest with classes just modifying it as opposed to adding a lot in the way of skills with interactions. It has far more systems as a whole and it's far more story driven with an actual good story and characters.
The untold games are remakes of the first two games.
It comes with a story mode with plot and a classic mode which is just the original games but less moronic broken and way easier
That guy is just moronic. Encounters are harder in untolds and you don't have Immunize in 1 or Hexer poison in 2 that one shots almost every encounter up until the 5th stratum.
You have to eat the poison boosting food for it to be good and poison scales of off stats and the enemy's resistance to it unlike the original's flat damage (it did nearly 300 damage, enemies didn't start getting more HP than that until the 4th stratum). It's good but then you're giving up a lot of other good food if you just stick to poison.

Action boost is the sole reason I've beaten this boss with every run. Be it torrent spam, triple bind ecstasy, or some mishmash with the story party, I have never and will never fight this c**t the long way. Not for lack of trying.

Action boost is the sole reason I've beaten this boss with every run. Be it torrent spam, triple bind ecstasy, or some mishmash with the story party, I have never and will never fight this c**t the long way. Not for lack of trying.
>this was a thing
I liked Tokyo Mirage Sessions
Same, I imported the Wii U version. Atlus always makes solid RPGs. It's just everything else about the game that made everyone butt hurt.
Bunnies
I'd breed all the bunnies in sight
So fertile but not very bright
I'd pull on their ears
While spanking their rears
I'd breed every bunny all night
I wish I was the abyssal king. imagine being the ruler of a secluded undersea kingdom and having the technology to manufacture whatever robot onahole your heart desires.
The box art parties are what you are supposed to be using. This is why Nexus's most viable guild is nothing but Heroes
>boss has a chance to either read your input to do a party wide death AoE or just randomly picking a party wide death AoE
This would be a lot scarier except this is the game that introduced Shinobi and Shogun
Best postgame boss: best design, best theme, and very easy to cheese.
It's the best battle bgm in the whole series in my opinion. I still listen to it regularly along with the rest of the ost.
While I respect your opinion I'm going to have to politely disagree and assert this is the best battle BGM in the series.
That's also a good choice, there's a lot of good battle BGMs in the series.
Very good, however...
the FM versions of the gladsheim tracks are pure garbage
Most of the FM music on the 3DS was garbage. I can't believe people paid for that shit in EO5. This one is an exception though for obvious reasons.
>The rest of the FM versions and all of the modern versions of the gladsheim tracks are pure garbage
ftfy
I'm partial to this one myself
Based
Very unintuitive boss with shitty RNG mechanics. Slapped on panic and nuked it, then never looked back.
I have 100% every mainline Etrian game including the first 2.
I have completed both Mystery Dungeon games + postgame.
I have never played Etrian Odyssey III.
Then you haven't 100% every mainline Etrian game.
>Playing the atrocities that are both Etrian Mystery Dungeon to completion.
>Not playing EO3.
Reminds me of being the only damned male human player in Tera and being surrounded by nothing but Elin anytime I joined a public dungeon
haha that must have been petrifying
They’d make fun of me for playing berserker. Was a strange time for certain.
>Reminds me of being the only damned male human player in Tera and being surrounded by nothing but Elin anytime I joined a public dungeon
I was the only Amani male warrior in the entire server when I last played.
she should have got a bikini costume too
I just a new Etriam.
But I really don't trust modern Atlus to make good Etriam again.
Don't post shit translated by the /vg/ EO general, you'll summon them
Implying this isn't already a stealth general thread
/eog/ isn't dead yet?
>ded
I translated one of the old anones once a long time ago, no one ever did the typesetting for it though
This one was too much for me

New EO when? Fricking Fatlus!
out of the way Black folk, best battle track coming through
accepted. very cute;{
}

>took away morrigan's boobs just because he prefers flat chests
Himukai was always amazing.

I want to like eo3 but I posted that I got filtered by the devilfish and people laughed at me
I was happy to beat the lynx finally and then this

>I got filtered by the devilfish
