we've got... uh, let me think: screaming kinzo, bern being a stoic bitch, rika drowning in cooking wine, and posters suffering from chronic hinamizawa syndrome
I'm genuinely sad how that general has been utterly destroyed by the Rikaspammer and Satokospammer. I was there back when Umineko ep 7 and 8 were finally released in english. Unironically peak Ganker culture at that point.
yes, it has a lot to offer above what the anime could mash into two seasons. Especially considering they tried putting the first 6 chapters into the first season which just ended up rushing the best chapters and really screwing up some of them.
07th mod is "better" for voice acting and such, but consider that a few legitimate tranners have censored it further with the mod. Apparently the mangagamer sprite that shows just a tiny bit of satoko's butt is too perverted for these busybodies.
The original story arcs, that's about it.
Some of the other arcs, fan fiction basically, aren't too bad either, but it's just very optional and some of it is dumb.
That's just an assortment of different arcs. They put different names on the multiple console versions of higurashi that have appeared over the years with extra chapters added to them (the DS and the PS2, I believe the PS3 had a port as well, etc). Entergram puts basically everything they can find from previous releases into the newest ones. Umineko on switch has a lot of extra stuff too.
It's literally not. Every time a chud tries to say otherwise I utterly btfo them. Higurashi is comfy, down to earth, consistently written and conveys all the themes of Umineko in a more succinct and down to earth way without any of the baggage of chud witches, autistic meta universe slop and a "love" which is actually just thinly veiled nihilism. Inb4 you get you call up your discord buddies to flame the thread now that I have rightfully pissed on chudineko.
>I've watched the show several times but will never read the VN or any VN for that matter
You really missed out then. Chapter 1 of the VN is some of the most amazing fun and >atmosphere
I've had in years. I only bothered to get around to it last year, and then watched the anime after. The animeonlines like you really are suffering an inferior version of the setting, and I don't mean that to be facetious. Higurashi's world is so much better as a slow burn than the disjointed, rushed anime.
VNs are boring as fuck and not animated. Only based ones are school days and shiny days by overflow for anime cut scenes or alicesoft VNs for having gameplay
The VN is actually pretty great, but the more time you sink into the more you notice the tens of hours of pointless filler, the unsatisfying Answers to some of the questions that would have been better left unmolested, and everything relating to Chapter 8 sucks.
R07 really does suck at giving satisfying answers to his mysteries. Then again the same could be said about a lot of horror writers. That's why I'm always in favor of the author just not answer questions and letting fans discuss theories endlessly.
>R07 really does suck at giving satisfying answers to his mysteries.
Umineko and Rose Gun Days were very satisfying. As great as Higurashi is, it has all the flaws of an amateur's first work.
The horror aspect of Higurashi is really bone chilling. Being alienated from the group and feeling like you're not in on some kind of conspiracy and/ or you're being puppeted by someone unknowingly is spooky af and more horror media should tap into that.
Wrong. "It was all a fanfic lol" is a shitty answer for 99% of people.
>Being alienated from the group and feeling like you're not in on some kind of conspiracy and/ or you're being puppeted by someone unknowingly is spooky af and more horror media should tap into that.
God. This. The feeling that you are constantly being watched from a distance in the first chapter was just unreal, and then when it veered into the supernatural with the part where Keichi goes through the door and turns around and hears the footsteps and knows that someone is standing in the doorway. It's stellar stuff.

this is why the first half of the chapters were the best, later on it gets shitter and shitter
>Umineko and Rose Gun Days were very satisfying. As great as Higurashi is, it has all the flaws of an amateur's first work. >Umineko was satisfying
LOL >and so my butler was actually willing to kill dozens of people and then himself because I asked him to and this is how I could kill everyone among other things such as nobody ever noticing I was someone else and was filling 2 job positions at the same time >also there was a huge evidence erasing bomb but people who knew about it still were willing to work on this island and even give me the switch for it!
It's the reason why Umineko is so much better. There's still filler, but it's much less (and arguably a lot more entertaining). I know people will go "implying magical fight scenes" but if you actually compare them to something like the club games in Higurashi it's such a small part of the VN.
>and everything relating to Chapter 8 sucks.
I liked Takano's story and connecting fragments, but once the actual solution starts it really pales in comparison to previous chapters
Translate for dekinais. I highly doubt it's transphobic as R07 is literally a westabu neo-liberal who would instantly set the record straight if his western fans started calling him a transphobe.
Agreed
I got a boner :/
Sextoko's feet in my mouth
This must be the greatest but also the most unknown game I've ever played
>Higurashi
>unknown
The VN maybe, but the anime was very popular.
fucking newfags
I agree, but there's a game that's even more kino.
>Poor man’s And Then There Were None
you might enjoy the /r07/ general over at /jp/!
we've got... uh, let me think: screaming kinzo, bern being a stoic bitch, rika drowning in cooking wine, and posters suffering from chronic hinamizawa syndrome

i sort of tuned out when gou turned into DBZ battles and satoko actually being lambdadelta
gou is just so much of a clusterfuck and the new manga was an utter letdown,
>satoko actually being lambdadelta
>he didn't like satokodelta
Low iq mong.
I just want Satokp
It's not. Japanese slop trying too hard to be 2deep4u. It's also padded and a slog to read.
Would I still enjoy the VN if I have watched the anime?
yes, it has a lot to offer above what the anime could mash into two seasons. Especially considering they tried putting the first 6 chapters into the first season which just ended up rushing the best chapters and really screwing up some of them.
Should I patch the VN any, or just rawdog the Steam release
Use 07thmod to get voice acting and all the sprites, backgrounds and music. I don't like the mangagamer sprites at all
07th mod is "better" for voice acting and such, but consider that a few legitimate tranners have censored it further with the mod. Apparently the mangagamer sprite that shows just a tiny bit of satoko's butt is too perverted for these busybodies.
That's a retarded move, but the simple solution is not to use the worst sprites
which is the "best" sprites?
Original ones
But no release other than the very original PC release has the best sprite of all, which got censored in every other release
OG. console is 2nd place but they're kinda bland and less expressive. MG sprites are just awful to me, with one or two exceptions
The anime is nice and all but the VN is on a completely different level.
Well, the CERO D version of the game with a bunch of gay fanfic routes certainly isn't, but otherwise yeah.
>Well, the CERO D version of the game with a bunch of gay fanfic routes certainly isn't, but otherwise yeah.

Whats the Sui game even about? Inb4 suicide

Try playing umineko now.
Though higurashi is good, umineko goes above and beyond
Umineko is a 5/10
you let her in, right?
you now hear it
I hate.

Uminekos still better

chud this, chud that. You should read Gerokasu and see how R07 really feels about those "people".
Read Ciconia and it cancels it
Gerokasu came after so that cancels Ciconia
Also Phase 2 never probably because of this too
It's impolite to use Ciconia and cancel in the same sentence
I've watched the show several times but will never read the VN or any VN for that matter
simple as
>I've watched the show several times but will never read the VN or any VN for that matter

Wow so cool Anon!
VNs are boring as fuck and not animated. Only based ones are school days and shiny days by overflow for anime cut scenes or alicesoft VNs for having gameplay

There needs to be a Ganker law where every discussion moves inevitably closer towards 2 anons calling each other chuds

RGD wasn't really an elaborate mystery more like a crime thriller so it worked out a lot better
>Umineko and Rose Gun Days were very satisfying. As great as Higurashi is, it has all the flaws of an amateur's first work.
>Umineko was satisfying
LOL

Damn imagine a god giving you the YWNBAW speech
Good
Yata dekenai bros. I did it!
In hindsight, only Tatarigoroshi and Tsumihoroboshi were good.
Yeah, Tatarigoroshi really stands above the others
I dunno if it's the peak of R07's writing but it must be damn close
I'd play it but it would remind me too much of an old friend that liked it, who I'm pretty sure an hero'd
why did he do it?
He's a bad writer, plain and simple. FLUKEgurashi was a one time thing.
M-MIHO?!
If I wanted to read a book, I'd have read one. A VN must have some player interaction, otherwise it's pointless. Higurashii is a waste of time
