I can't believe the first 2 destinations, Paris & Sapienza, were never topped.

After each release the you spent a lot of time with each of the maps.

I don't know what it is but I definitely rank the 1st game's locations above the other ones. Paris, Sapienza and Hokkaido are top tier, Marrakesh is a bit simple but in terms of how it looks it's also great, Bangkok is lazy but it works and Colorado is infamous .
Maybe I just still HAVEN'T spent enough time with the other maps but they never surpassed the 1st game in my opinion.

Sapienza has always been a mid tier map for me solely because of the underground virus research centre.
    Berlin is probably my favorite.

Never understood the love for Berlin. It's kinda cool the first time around and afterwards the gimmick is just annoying, the whole location is annoying and I just really fricking hate Berlin and everything associated with it.
Which is a shame because it has the single coolest setpiece of the whole trilogy.

Sapienza is overrated. Sure it's not a bad map, but the story mission barely utilizes most of the map. There's barely any reason to not just head directly for the villa.

Favourite map from each game? Mine are:

Sgail is one of my favorites. I prefer buildings. The forest ones annoy the piss out of me. But buildings with lots of walls and rigid corners making it easy to predict when you're going to be seen tickle the autism.

I don't like Sgail because it's annoying to traverse and probably the worst offender of all maps with regard to missed opportunities.

That describes Mumbai pretty well. The visuals and vibe are really good. But the entire market area with all the pedestrians and see-through-everything enforcers wandering around was such a claustrophobic clusterfrick. I don't know what they were thinking. Marrakesh has that same good vibe and yet it was done almost perfectly.

              Anonymous

For me, it's not just the (also moronic) super enforcers. I hate how disconnected the bollywood tower and the train station feel from the other parts of the level.

Bangkok is probably where I've spent the most played hours. I love Bangkok. The only annoying thing about Bangkok I can think of is how the west wing has so many people hanging out at the rail overlooking the lower areas, forcing you into a position where it's basically impossible to know if you're going to be caught goofing off on the lower levels.

I feel like Bangkok is a bit more annoying disguise-wise than many of the other levels and that causes people to feel a little off about it even if they can't explain exactly why

The security room is annoying. There's 1 maid patrolling through there every few minutes, and 3 guards inside with 1 closet. The outer area is swarming with guards and roadies. It's really fricking hard to disable the security smoothly on that level.

SASO in Bangkok was way more tedious for me than sasoing Colorado, wasted an hour of my life of a futile attempt to find another surveillance recorder in the back yard only to realize there is none. Colorado was a breeze tho.

For Bangkok, there is a pipe that leads up to the bathroom on the rear-corner of the penthouse/studio. You can pull the 2 techs into there (also a closet) then shoot the target (don't even need a silencer) in the soundproof booth. The lawyer is much easier. 1 coin on the balcony edge, one coin to distract the body guard.

I know because that was the way i've done it, tho i lured Jordan into the bathroom and snapped his neck.

I was playing some Hitman III levels yesterday and thinking about how that was a really low note to end on. They should have kept going with Hitman IV and V, honestly. Just plugging in more destinations. People would have continued to pay for it.

On freelancer? homie, just go to the penthouse with the loudest fricking gun you have and start shooting, and kill any guard that comes through that choke point. Guards taking more than 60 seconds to show up? Go to the bathroom next to the exhibit and pop them as they come in. Guards all gone? Doesn't matter, 90% are dead and you need at least 1 guard alive for the NPCs not to bug out (they need someone to report dead bodies/guns to, or they just freeze in place). Change costumes. Continue about your business.

Freelancer is where I go to kill millions. Campaign/Escalation just is for Silent Assassin.

Colorado was way too fixated on the farmhouse in the center and was a bit too dense there while the rest of the map goes largely under/non-used.
I don't care much for the beach house map. It was disingenuous to call it a map when it barely had anything at all going on with it--at least the seasonal Halloween variant did something with all that empty beach by turning it SPOOPY. I shame more maps didn't have holiday facelifts, but eh it's not like they're running an MMO.

I dunno. Colorado kind of grew on me. It was a very time-consuming level to SA, though. Before you did anything, you had to go along the outer edge and clear all the guards from outside the fence, luring out anyone just inside the fence. Then get the guards on top of the motor pool building. It's like a 20-25 minute process. Once that was done, it was much easier to move around the level and get stuff done. It's all the fricking fences with the microscopic cracks that guards just happen to be staring through that caused the most problems. Really frustrating on the highest difficulty where you can't save every few minutes.

Like that fricking train. What a cop-out that was.

        Anonymous

the train was fun. it just shouldn't have taken one of the 6 slots as a level. like the beach house.

another thing - i've been playing since Hitman 2016 and every time I reset my progress and start over, challenges are missing. like for the train, there was originally a challenge to complete it in 5 minutes or something like that. or tossing coins in fountains. blowing up the woman in Bangkok so her body lands on the tarp. there was on sapienza to kill several guards in an accident explosion at once. they take out all these fun challenges but leave in the gay shit that requires you to use contracts. if anything, they should remove all the challenges that can't be done with SA since it goes against the heart of the game. instead they are pruning everything else for no reason.

          >tossing coins in fountains
The levels, like Bangkok, where you had to bounce coins and have them land in a certain spot (also the one with the woman landing on the tarp) were removed because they revamped the physics engine and it made those much, much harder.

It's the price you pay for having large levels. Think of it this way - if the consulate just looked like the school, is that really going to be fun? You'd be calling it out for being too same-y. In Mumbai, if the tower looked the shawls, same problem.

            Anonymous

This is proven by how much better Night Marrakesh is.
It's focused down on the Bazaar and greatly benefits from it.

The main level should have doubled down on either the Consulate or the School plus the market, not both.

Every time I start the version of Sapienza with the mayor and not trying to SA, the first thing I do is kill that fricking harpy singing on stage. Otherwise you hear that same song on repeat the entire time you're there.
