just turn it off if your computer is so bad. that's such a weird complain.
i thought pc mastergays were all about the highest end hardware, now it can't even into 5 year old hardware. it's just very bizarre mystery.. maybe the pc mastergays were only pretending the whole time
OMG THIS, BROS!!! to be honest, i only ever see people with playstations actually care a lot about graphics. everyone I know that has a PC dont even talk about graphics unless the entire purpose was testing out whatever new pc part they bought

rtx looks good consistently
As you dont rely on faking anything you have perfect reflections, illumination and shadows on everyt situation with dynamic lights and weather.
Rasterized lighting being marketed via screenshots has been a marketing gimmick for decades and is inherently misleading.

Ah yes because RTX marketing is anything but that....

Its a nice difference, but I've seen shaders do a lot of what RTX does without tanking performance or needing DLSS's sloppy fix.
Global Illumination in particular is something I would really like to see be common but at present after getting a card that can do RT it was a bit underwhelming. Most games that have it already looked good from lighting design. Being able to run path traced Minecraft is cool though, but that doesn't need an RT card just a good card so its not even using that tech just a shader version of it.
Screen space reflection.
Its like ray-tracing but the thing reflected has to be visible in the current frame for it to work.
It's why in games that use it reflections disappear the moment you look directly down at a puddle.
Try seeing if the reflection is still visible if the screen is still not in the frame.
Is being able to see reflections without also seeing the source really that big a deal though? Given how expensive the cost for it seems to be? And isn't this proof that comparison's like OP's are disingenuous? The source of the reflection was visible in the screenshot after all.
>Is being able to see reflections without also seeing the source really that big a deal though
If you're trying to track something like another player or an enemy in a FPS for instance, then yes. It could allow you to see them reflected on an object around a corner for instance.
If it's just a question of having an enemy show up then surely there are ways of getting that to work that are far simpler than overhauling an entire lighting system? Would also seem really unfair in multiplayer games if the player with the high graphical settings had the advantage. And if the game expects raytracing as a minimum requirement then good luck getting the game an active community.
>that big a deal though?
that's up to you
Some sort of gameplay that uses what you can't see around corners reflected on surfaces it would be a big deal
but at that point you are deliberately trying to force a situation that 'can't be done absent (some) proper ray-tracing.
Honestly, all of the raytracing atm is shit. Too big of a performance hit, for no significant benefit. Using the same tech for sound propagation on the other hand. Audio has been getting shafted since forever, and most games are terribly non-interactive anyway, so going to ray-tracing over traditional smoke-and-mirrors rarely benefits
RTX looks better in motion since you can see in realtime how lights are bouncing around, how colours cascade and reflect.
One of the coolest things that happened to me when I was messing around with RTX in Control was that I could see the reflection of an enemy waiting in ambush around the corner of some glass.
Ganker is majority poorgays otherwise they wouldn't be here. Why do you think this board has a meltdown whenever game isn't piratable or whenever game has high system requirements?
than the ones that do have high system requirements but are piratable are played by these people that cant run it and then post webms of bugs that dont happen on machines that can run the game no problem

Just like everything else, depending on how it's implemented it may or may not. All technology on its own does nothing. It's the use that defines its value. Just like physics, shadows, and culling before it, it's a thing that can be a worthless or affect the gameplay depending on who uses it. You're not as clever as you think you are when you ask these vacuous questions that are clearly supposed to be loaded but aren't because you're too moronic to understand the subject you're taking part in.
you can meme about shinier reflections but global illumination in fortnite is the first time I've been impressed by real time graphics since the xbox 360
Bottom unironically looks better
Im gonna coom

Sure that's why all the most popular pc games can run on toasters right?
OMG THIS, BROS!!! to be honest, i only ever see people with playstations actually care a lot about graphics. everyone I know that has a PC dont even talk about graphics unless the entire purpose was testing out whatever new pc part they bought
My PC is only a little better than a PS5 but I'm into PC gaming for
>mods
>play almost every game made in the last 30 years
are you having a stroke right now, julio? its okay if you are a proud sony user. im not going to fault you for that

I got an 3080 and rtx games look sweet.

Did you know they're working on a PS4 emulator?
its not looking good cope poor gay bros...
>RTX """""enhancement""""' is so minor and irrelevant that shills have to highlight it
lol
lmao even

also poorgay cope thread lmao, wait up, getting my popcorn
They both look...
>cringers need validation
>in-game tv animation can be seen in reflection
So how did they pull this off without raytracing?
Screen space reflection.

on my pc its not a big deal because im not worried about my pc not being able to run rtx

That's just one example. I'm sure there are tons of other ways to exploit it for gameplay purposes.

morrowind had reflections, SOMEONE PLEASE SHOW ME RTX THAT BLOWS MY FRICKING BALLS OFF
>It seems like a big price to pay for a little bit of honey.
try fortnite
that looks unrealistic and shit

On my phone screen both images look the same.
The reflection in the glass is more crisp than the skyline itself.
>25 FPS
>60 FPS
We don't play screenshots.
>RTX spam threads suddenly non stop
Whats up with this? Is it shilling or autistic hyperfixation?
>Whats up with this? Is it shilling or autistic hyperfixation?
it's coping AMD users and third worlders

This is what I'm waiting on. They just need to release it.
How does this affect gameplay?

Anyone who unironically thinks no RTX looks better is a fricking moron.
Anyone who unironically thinks this is impressive. SOMEONE PLEASE SHOW ME SOMETHING AMAZING!
can ray tracing apply to 2d games?
