Also will the emulator run everything?

Look at absolutely any benchmark these days. The quad-core i3 12100, while still good and arguably the best value around as a result of how cheap it is, does fall short of any current-gen Intel or AMD CPU packing at least 6 cores. Even when the entire top of the field is GPU bottlenecked, and everything 6 cores and up is all hitting the same framerate, the 12100 gives up a bit of performance in comparison.

AMD is just brute forcing numbers to look better than Intel for the price of efficiency.
Too bad it's still an AMD meaning that it'll work like shit on most games. Raw specs are meaningless when the vendor is incapable of making their shit work properly on anything harder than your Windows dekstop.
I'm not really impressed with this generation. 5000 series was very nice, I'll wait what Intel brings to the table and ultimately buy a 5800X or 5800X3D.
When you factor in the cost for the new motherboards and forced DDR5 (where I haven't seen really impressive results either), this stuff is expensive and not THAT much better. (at least if you're only plan to play games with it)
upgrade your cpu? a 5800X3D while keeping the same mobo+RAM.
if you're looking at Ryzen 7000 you should also be looking at Intel 13th gen, since both would be a whole platform upgrade for you.
AMD's probably not doing it. The 5800X3D was an experimental chip as is and it only had one chiplet. Plus it launched pretty close to Zen 4. If there's gonna be more 3D chips, they'll be on the 7800X3D and 7900X3D.
Unfortunately 7000 series is a flop, the value is shit with how much you have to pay, especially since Intel 13th gen comes out in like a month and will probably just take the lead again. There's no point in getting anything other than a 7950x until the X3D versions come out next year
It's not a flop for productivity, it absolutely beats out everything in the consumer space and adding AVX-512 helps it beat out Intel in the smaller last remaining performance holdouts. The top line 7950x only surpassed by higher core count CPUs in the Threadripper, Eypc and Xeon lines. Gaming is the real issue which this board is interested in and without 3D cache, it's too expensive for what it offers. Of course, Intel isn't doing much better here with Raptor Lake when it comes to gaming from the look of things but at least you can still get some value from Alder Lake being cheaper and still being able to use DDR4 for now before upgrading to Raptor Lake years later.
think 5800X3D will ever dip to 350 and below? 3700x is perfectly functional right now so cant justify spending over 400 dollars for slight performance boost.
I was looking up improvements with a 3700x to 5800x3d or even a 7650x or something and the performance is barely noticeable, if you have a 240hz 1440p monitor or 165hz 4k then maybe but in the benchmarks I was seeing, with my 3080 it'd be like maybe 15fps increase which is not worth it.
theres no major improvement from 3700x to 5800X3D so I'll mainly buy it as a backup CPU.
$300-$400. They degrade quickly apparently. It’s a major uplift because it fixes the notorious Zen 1% and 0,1% dips. Do you plan to play UE5 games?

These posts are just bots or shills. There's no way anyone can complain about power consumption while spending absolute metric frick tons on hardware. Why do you care about power consumption? Electricity bills? Black person you just spent $2k on a fricking GPU stop complaining about how much things cost.
>HE SAID THING I DON'T AGREE WITH, B-B-BOT!!!!
Here, I'll spell it out you fricking brain rotten moron.
Power hungry parts run hot. Hot things - you guessed it - put out a lot of heat. Your PC needs to move this heat off of the components and out of your PC into your room, which then makes your desk area and room hotter. Your PC will also ramp up fan speeds letting off a significant amount of noise.
Furthermore the longer these components endure high temperatures, the quicker they are to wear down. You could even argue that the high power consumption was a design choice to ensure your components last you far less time so you have to buy more future revisions, in an attempt to stop people from sitting on a high end PC for years.
There is way more to it than just some silly power bill. Now you're educated.
I'm using a 9590 rn. Never had any temp issues in the last 10 years using an aio water cooler, despite the rumours saying otherwise. My lights do dim whenever I turn my pc on, however.
Why are they still pushing raw computational power instead of performance? It reminds me of gym shit and how there's two different "types" of strength: relative and absolute. Relative strength is strength relative to your bodyweight, ie. can do a lot of pullups or pushups. Absolute strength is just the biggest numbers possible, like Eddie Hall deadlifting 500kg. Sacrificing efficiency for raw numbers seems to be the hallmark of GPUs now. I'd give my left nut for something with the computational ability of a 700 series except was cheap and used frick all power.
Depends on your desired resolution, frame rate, graphics settings, and if you frequently play the latest and greatest triple A games. But the answer you are looking for is 2028
Unironically for the rest of the decade if you only care about getting playable frame rates
With that being said, most PC gaymers will want more than "playable". By 2029 the 5800X will probably be playing games as well as an i7-4770K does today I imagine.
But if you are interested in something new, you should definitely wait for the X3D variant of the ryzen 8000 series. I think the 8000 series is most likely coming 2024, and the X3D model(s) in 2025
Don't buy first generation AM5 crap lol
just want storage tbh
its for media storage (music, videos, etc) but i just want it to be network attached to my main pc that will do all the heavy lifting
honestly should probably consider a full tower case and maybe a sata card instead
i dont mind buying a mobo normally but ive been interested in prosumer shit for a while and the easiest way to get server hardware is by buying it on ebay/chinkexpress
just dont know where to look tbh
https://pcserverandparts.com/
amazon also has a ton of refurb enterprise ssds (look up hgst and you'll find a ton of them)
like 100 bucks for a fully working 8tb. but they get bad reviews because theyre usually way too worn out and have dead sectors. for home use though they're fine. can make a cheap raid array in any config with that shit.
oh and forgot to mention mobos and psus are usually no-gos because they use proprietary pinouts
its also why buying sas/scsi cards is so expensive because the ones for servers are cheap but dont work without flashing a new firmware
maybe /hsg/ can help ya with recs, just don't say you're from Gankeree
ye ive used /hsg/ before, way too new in networking to get anything done though so just been sitting on my ass lol
would love a small freebsd server or upgrade my desktop to have raid or something
xeons are server processors, so you usually find them in rackmounted computers
they usually use the same socket as normal i5/i7s and are also usually just rebranded i5-i7s, but some use a specific socket for servers
they can be gotten for cheap because enterprise usually just throws them away or tries to resell them for whatever cost they can recoup
The new processors use a new paradigm for power envelopes. You shouldnt have been running your CPU so hot, even though its fine because its below tjmax. These new processors use just as much wattage but just stay warmer. The heat generated is the same. It just reduces thermal stress on the joints that result from warmer and cooling cycles expanding snd then shrinking the materials.
it's literally just a anti virus for your bios you moron
I know you autistic fricking linux users cannot read but take more than 5 minutes reading what the frick does something does and not try to nail it onto a cross of something else
>it's literally just a anti virus for your bios you moron
Pfffahahahahahaha you're such a naive little idiot, aren't you?
The fact that you still believe antivirus is a thing in this day and age, and not just a data-collection scam is even more embarrassing. Christ you're fricking dumb lol.
Nice. What games will you be playing that require that piece of high end computer hardware? Surely youhave games you're going to play and don't just want it because you're a mindless consumer right?
It's common knowledge by now lol

The only thing that I understood that they will have a smaller cache, apart from I3 will have 6 cores and the i5 will have the e-core, it remains processors that have a good price will be quite decent, copes with your mental moronation
>431€ for a 6 core CPU >only people saying I should buy Zen 4 are Germans who still say AMD is the underdog and some shit about Intel from the 80s
Why are they like this?
if you play at 2k or 4k you have no need, even in 1080p if you don't play at more than 144hz even less reason and in emulators it doesn't differ much in performance from the previous generation or for very little, so your best option is 5800X3D if it is you need that CPU power. save your money for the rx 7000 and PSU to power them
OP's pic is the 7700X. Gaming performance is good but if you're on an AM4 chip, the 5800X3D is a better deal since the 7000 series required a new mobo and DDR5 RAM.
No games use more than 4c

Intel and Amd have been one-upping each other for 3 years in a row already
AMD CPUs are not AMD gpus
You do realize that AMD has been the superior choice for a few years now?
All I want are AMD GPU's that actually apply antialiasing when you request they apply antialiasing
get a better monitor
Why do AMD cards refuse to apply AA in games where you can force it?
x670 boards are 400 dollaridos though
rumored 250 for 650

Ryzen 2600 here looking to upgrade.

probably a 3090
upgrade your cpu? a 5800X3D while keeping the same mobo+RAM.
if you're looking at Ryzen 7000 you should also be looking at Intel 13th gen, since both would be a whole platform upgrade for you.
CPU is nearly irrelevant at 4k, unless you're playing extremely cpu intensive games like city builders or whatever.
Get a 5800X3D, for gaming you are getting basically the same performance as the 7000 series but don't have to upgrade to new Ram and Motherboard too.
Why not a 5900x?
It's that extra 3d cache that is making all the difference is why. It essentially cancels out the advantage of moving to the DDR5 CPUs.
I really wish they would make a 5900x3D or 5950x3D.
AMD's probably not doing it. The 5800X3D was an experimental chip as is and it only had one chiplet. Plus it launched pretty close to Zen 4. If there's gonna be more 3D chips, they'll be on the 7800X3D and 7900X3D.

only you can answer that. but you can keep your current mobo and RAM, just update your BIOS.
5800X3D is the best piece of hardware i have ever bought in my life, upgraded from a 3600.
think 5800X3D will ever dip to 350 and below? 3700x is perfectly functional right now so cant justify spending over 400 dollars for slight performance boost.

Should I upgrade my 3800x?
No, because the early adopter tax is too high right now. Just wait until next years release of the x3D cache versions and second gen DDR5 ram
I dunno anon tell us why are you considering upgrading from your perfectly fine CPU
How long my 5800x gonna run games until I can't play new games anymore?
PC upgrading is so fricking insufferable and I won't be doing it again anytime soon.
Depends on your desired resolution, frame rate, graphics settings, and if you frequently play the latest and greatest triple A games. But the answer you are looking for is 2028
5 years tops. We've reached a plateau in graphics in which every year we get less and less advancements so you will be fine.

>Pluton by Microsoft
No.
>but you can disable it in BIOS!
Just like how you can disable Microsoft's telemetry in your system settings?
y not use linux
it's literally just a anti virus for your bios you moron
I know you autistic fricking linux users cannot read but take more than 5 minutes reading what the frick does something does and not try to nail it onto a cross of something else
>it's literally just a anti virus for your bios you moron
Pfffahahahahahaha you're such a naive little idiot, aren't you?
The fact that you still believe antivirus is a thing in this day and age, and not just a data-collection scam is even more embarrassing. Christ you're fricking dumb lol.
>anti virus for your bios
Nice. What games will you be playing that require that piece of high end computer hardware? Surely youhave games you're going to play and don't just want it because you're a mindless consumer right?
Calm down, bro. It's just a box.
I am only interested in the athlon 7020, 7600g and the 7800 X3D and from the 13th gen of intel only the i3 13100 and i5 13400
>i3 13100 and i5 13400
Anon I...
what are you going to tell me moron??
those CPUs are rebranded alder lake CPUs moron, literally no performance improvements
According to the sources taken from your ass, right?
It's common knowledge by now lol
Cope, seethe, mald, piss, shit and coom over it
https://videocardz.com/newz/intel-confirms-core-i5-13600-cpu-and-below-are-based-on-alder-lake-die
The only thing that I understood that they will have a smaller cache, apart from I3 will have 6 cores and the i5 will have the e-core, it remains processors that have a good price will be quite decent, copes with your mental moronation
Literally gets beaten by the 5800X3D. Good job overpaying for a workstation CPU marketed towards stupid people like yourself.
Also you now have a Pluton attestation connected to your computer, LOL.
>431€ for a 6 core CPU
>only people saying I should buy Zen 4 are Germans who still say AMD is the underdog and some shit about Intel from the 80s
Why are they like this?
i have a ryzen 5 3600x
give me 1 reason to upgrade
because youre a consoomer that wants new toy
wait for next socket bruv
if you play at 2k or 4k you have no need, even in 1080p if you don't play at more than 144hz even less reason and in emulators it doesn't differ much in performance from the previous generation or for very little, so your best option is 5800X3D if it is you need that CPU power. save your money for the rx 7000 and PSU to power them
>95 degrees is not hot
you can't make this shit up
Better keep a fire extinguisher handy because you'll need it later
Just bought one yesterday. Shame motherboards are so rarted right now though
Just wait for the 7950X3D
Which one is this? I have the 3700x and I rike it a rot
OP's pic is the 7700X. Gaming performance is good but if you're on an AM4 chip, the 5800X3D is a better deal since the 7000 series required a new mobo and DDR5 RAM.
>buying amd
might as well just burn my money
It's out?
I'm gonna be getting a new GPU and PSU before I consider a new platform. All depends on whether a 4090/7900XT is too fast for my 5900x
