because kojima just kept trying to make a movie in game format
he's responsible for the frickery of aaa stories as games we have now

The plot of the MGS series is shit just like it was then
so, so much of the shit was 'so it's magic? but science fiction magic.'
Like kojima is there 'much grounded realism' followed by 'I invent bullshit

      this
people are weirdly fixated on spoilers being an issue
if your media relies on shock value then it sucks
For example, I know darth vader is luke's dad but that doesn't stop me from loving "the reveal" every time i see it

There's no point in spoiling anything about MGS2, every bit of story is a time-wasting lie crafted to make 12 year olds scream "KIIINOOO" because it's they're first real story twists they've been exposed to in their lives

    >spoilers
    >mgs2
It's literally just a meme deconstruction of a video game sequel. It's a simulation of MGS1 all over again, which was a rehash of MG1

I don't think most people are necessarily okay with being spoiled usually. But most people can't put off being on places where they can be spoiled even more, in comparison.

MGS2 spoilers means frickall now since MGS4 explained/retconned everything.

Like giving us the true nature/reason why the Patriot AI was made, instead of their bullshit at the end of MGS2

scientists LITERALLY proved that spoilers do not have a negative impact on enjoyment. this is the same reason people can read a book more than once and enjoy it.

I don't know, I just remember reading about it a long time ago. It was probably before 2016 so I don't think that was the one.

    >game releases
    >go to youtube and watch a completionist run (with all the sidequest and shit) cutscenes movie video
    >have the "story" behind me
    >see the gameplay and then decide if its worth playing it
I actually hate that marvel cuck movie mentality...
    >you wont enjoy it if you get spoiled on the twist that this homie is gay
Nowdays is worth separating what the writers puke into the game and its gameplay mechanics.
Thats when you realize that in lots of games the gameplay is just mediocre and gets boring really fast or that the story is simply a list of checkboxes they had to fill

spoilers have literally never affected my enjoyment of something and half the time I spoiler myself to see if X thing interests me

    >Spoilers are the reason I've put off MGS2 for all these years
i don't understand how spoilers could harm MGS2. The experience you have with it is visceral, even more so if you play it all in one sitting which is probably the developer's intent with how the story progresses with your own mental fatigue. The only other game I've ever played that seemed to tie it's story to the emotional or mental state of the player is Pathologic. Pathologic in particular is impressive because you don't have to play it in one sitting but the stressful nature of the game puts you in the mindset of the character you're playing as with both the player and their avatar becoming more desperate/frustrated.

My brother and I stayed up all night playing MGS2 when it came out. It was around 3-4am when we got to the meta Colonel codec convo where he starts telling you to turn the game off, you've been playing too long. The the thrill was exceptional. A very memorable experience.

Video games should have enjoyable gameplay above all else. If getting the story spoilt ruins your enjoyment of the game then it probably wasn't a good game in the first place.
