"Best game of all time" despite the fact that it plays like this.

What's that? If you choose to do something in the least fun way possible then you don't have much fun? Wow, what a revelation.

          >muh fun
"Fun" is a made up word you use when you like something but can't provide any actual evidence that it's good. It's fake and disingenuous in vidya discussion

Honestly, no. This isn't true at all.
It does some Peter Pan, generic fantasy, and a few Arthurian images, like the sword in the stone, well. It combines those elements in a way that creates a nice atmosphere.
It does not particularly do the monomyth.

    Nintendo simping.

I'm convinced it's 90% just nostalgia and brand simping from people who played a lot Nintendo and Zelda games growing up. As someone who never owned a Nintendo console while young - I completely fail to see the appeal of both OoT as well the newer games.

I love Kass! It is certainly an interesting phenomenon OP, but if I were to guess, I'd say it's because the long development cycles, combined with the prestigious brand that Nintendo has developed for the series, and the grandiose nature of each major release leads to the illusion that these games are much better than they actually are! That said, they are still generally fantastic and above-average games in their own right, and even if they may not deserve to be considered the best, they are definitely top-percentile consistently! Though the Fujiyabashi games have been pretty disappointing, and the attachment people have to them is very questionable!

aka Tendie cultists. The same brand of retardation that gave rise to Soulshitters.

There are only three Zelda games that get that kind of regard, though. OoT, MM, and BotW

Link's Awakening, A Link To The Past, and Wind Waker are hipster picks, but
    >Zelda
    >Zelda II
    >Oracle games
    >Four Swords
    >Minish Cap
    >Twilight Princess
    >Phantom Hourglass
    >Spirit Tracks
    >Skyward Sword
    >Link Between Worlds
    >Triforce Heroes

There are three zelda games generally viewed as Classics, three also rans, and 11 games that are mid to good. Too early to judge TotK, some games lose their shine after a few years(see: all the 3D Final Fantasy games).

Not really, people only care about A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time and the Ubiclones. Everything else is acquired taste and divisive as fuck.
