I can't believe this level or lazyness and entitlement.

Stop being a zoomie and just go through the list deleting what you don't want. God the mobile phone generation is hopeless.

Lmao, thats how I imagine OPs response indeed.

I have trimmed down quite a few rom sets but I'm not sharing them with you. Do the work yourself. Takes less than an hour per set. Longer if you want to rename shit.

It takes me minutes to trim and sort with just a bash shell. I can't even imagine the world the OP is from.

I just keep the whole set because rom sets up to N64 and GBA take a minuscule amount of space.

What i do is search for regions and delete them. also "Virtual Console"
It's not perfect, but it gets like 99% of the bulk in a couple of minutes.
Sorry about the asperger being demonstrated in the thread. If you wanna be a god, you should upload your own romset when you're done. Guarantee you lots of people do what I do, and it's unnecessary to make everyone do it if we all know that's what we want

Or you could, you know, not be a tech illiterate moron for once in your life and use a script like

and generate whatever set you desire in seconds. Amazing, I know. Technology, man. It's the future.

Create a custom DAT with DAT-o-matic.
Use ROMVault + your custom DAT on the full ROM set.
It will output a second ROM set based on whatever filters you selected in DAT-o-Matic.

How in THE FRICK do people not know how to do this in 2023?

Apparently it's much easier to keep doing it the moron way and keep complaining at the same time.

You're both not wrong. The RHDN, GBATemp and others are more concerned with tone policing than actually, directly assisting with anything. People here are mental midgets that can't handle being told when a tranner/furry actually IS better at coding than them, especially the /emugen/gays that can't stop b***hing about those emudevs who likewise have nothing to show for it.

It is a known psychological fact that people generally tend think too highly of themselves - we think we are better looking, more competent or smarter than we actually are. Ganker is that phenomenon amplified by relative anonimity - and a whole bunch of other unchecked beavioural quirks thrown into the mix for good measure. That's all there is to it. Recognize most o' ya'll motherfrickers dumb, dumb, dumb.

I don't know why people would ever want full romsets. Out of the entire library for any console there are only like 10 to 15 must-play games. Just download those and the games you actually like from your childhood.
    >Hidden gems
Just Google these and add one or two to try out.

What I want is something like a "cloud library" where I can download games from a single repository to different devices.

I don't necessarily NEED this but I feel like it's more elegant and organized than just going over to somewhere like Internet Archive to download the same game over and over whenever I play on a different system.

This goes in harmony with having cloud-synced save data.

I can tell you're only ever gonna play like 3 SNES games in your life. You're better off just downloading them as you go if you can't handle spending 10 minutes curating a full rom set.

There's so many Japanese-only releases you do kinda need to keep Japan-region ROMs, especially for libraries like TG-16/PC-Engine where 60-75% of the game library never left Japan.

Yeah, giving a total of games doesn't really work, you'd have to dig in there and see how many of those weren't mahjong or trivia crap.

I went through this bullshit several times. Even organized entire romsets by region. Let me tell you, it's not worth the time. Download whatever games you find interesting for whatever platform you want to play. Otherwise, your massive collection will become a real pain in the ass. Unless you're doing it for archival purposes, don't bother with a romset.

learn how to use the command line and you can filter any romset by its tags in literal seconds

Which part of "use a dat file" do you motherfrickers not understand? Simply filtering by you little filename tags like [U], [J] or [E] doesn't work. You know why? Because the same games often have completely different titles in different regions. So unless you want a purely US romset that omits tons of exclusives only release in non-US territories *ahem Japan*, you're bound to frick up and will end up with a whole bunch of duplicates. Use. A. Dat. File.

Just download individual games from publishers and developers that interest you. Takes a long time, but then you only have games you want.

Or, you can get the full ROMset and separate your curated games into a playlist or folder, then keep adding to it as you discover new ones.

That's also a way to do it, I agree. If you have enough space (I for sure don't), I recommend this method over my previous suggestion. Either way, I think OP is making this too hard on himself.

Download a full set for a system then use this program: https://github.com/unexpectedpanda/retool
One rom per game plus you can filter out bootleg crap, demos and/or games not in English, along with a bunch more options.
Be sure to download the updated clone lists.

Always use the (E) or european rom, since those were released last and contained bugfixes and general improvements over the US and JAP releases.
Don't let the rest if the people in this thread fool you, the euro PAL releases are the superior versions.
