How come decades old single player games like VTMB, Oblivion, Super Mario World or Ocarina of Time are still discussed years later but contemporary games are forgotten after a month or two?

Do you think Rouge has white pubes?
Absolutely.
Yes.
She's bald down there.
While it's definitely not canon due to alternate costumes she's had I do like GlacierClear's interpretation where only her shoulders are bare and she's actually furry on all the parts covered by her costume
There were plenty of games that are decades old that are also not talked about. It's like this in every medium. Most new things are forgettable dog shit. Only time will reveal what had staying power.
I mean, stuff being filtered out or being re-discovered isn't unheard off, but it feels as if the amount of games that stand out and remain as that are far and between compared to one or two decades ago.
Sets up for the sextortion and blackmail campaign of the day and then the next day
Either they were good and original enough to have inspired all the forgotten games we don't talk about, or they had a big enough marketing prescence at the time that all the parents bought them for their kids and now there's a generation nostalgic for them
Hell, I still see people talking about Sonic Adventure 2.
they used up all the good ideas
now new games have to use the leftovers
sex with Rouge
Intense tit squishing, anal ravaging sex with Rogue?
Rouge is for giving her little bat babies, forcing her to settle down and become a stay at home mom

Discussed by who specifically?
>dedicated crotch zipper
Jesus
Literally me.
Because a lot of them don't do enough new and there's too many too keep track of. If a new game is a 2D platformer with a warp zone, it's not going to displace Super Mario Bros when discussing level warps/shortcuts.
You can that for most media really. Books, movies, tv shows...
The word you're both looking for is "classics"; classic works are timeless.
There is naturally gonna be a bit of a dead zone between someone talking about something when it's new and fresh, and talking about it in the future once you've realized it's still in your head and actually meant something to the larger medium.
There are plenty of "classics" that are only 2-3 years old right now, but we don't think of them as classics yet because it hasn't been long enough for that to be proven. How are we supposed to know something can stand the test of time before time has actually passed?
I think the problem is how easy is for companies to buy and manufacture legacies. You often hear about how x game broke records, was critically acclaimed, won multiple awards and sold millions of copies. But how long people actually discuss it until it fizzles out? This creates a detachment since there's always a new masterpiece every month that is quickly discarded.
Great examples are Elden Ring and Horizon Zero Dawn. The former won GOTY last year and is still being discussed, the latter is completely forgotten despite selling 20M copies and being critically acclaimed yet the only discussion around is how no one actually cared for that game.
Sony or Nintendo or Xbox can buy articles saying how their latest biggest release is a "masterpiece" or whatever, but at the end of the day it's the game's quality what sustains the game itself and not articles or awards.
>people dont like the cartoon show rouge
my pp is still hard, dont care
shes so pretty i wish she was real
Why? So other men could fuck her?

Because everything is forgotten after a month or two, there's no common consensus about anything anymore and the media engine is always trying to get you to look at new things.
I mean, why do we need to talk about single player games? A game still being discussed or not doesn't change the quality of it. It's the same game either way. (You) don't like a game only because it's being discussed... right anon?
I don't think anyone was thinking what you said. Just trying to understand what makes a game a classic as
has put it.
Reverse cowgirl only
People still talk about Undertale. I think games tend to be designed to give you the full experience upfront nowadays because they know perfectly well all the secrets, hidden logs and alternate endings will be streamed anyway and you probably have other games to play even if you'd like to see that stuff for yourself.
