how come Emerald is put on a pedestal when it's one of the most flawed entries in the franchise?

I cant see this post or thread moron
>Yet still replies
Pathetic
That's not me
>Still fricking replying when "you" aren't here
This makes no sense
What makes no sense is pretending it is not "you". If it is really not "you" then why the frick are you replying? I smell underaged discord user. Frick off, homosexual.
>hahaha i am le troolin
why are you talking to someone that cant see what youre saying?
Bro he's played you like a fiddle
Thank you for the laugh
LMFAO
the region design is good (except for the lack of water pokemon variety) and the postgame facilities are the most challenging content in the entire franchise
the better question is why platinum is put on a pedestal when it's just emerald and xy but worse in pretty much every way
Much like Platinum, it took some of the shittiest games in the franchise and polished them into something resembling a good video game.
RS were already good and Emerald didn't actually do that much except add battle facilities. DP was dogshit and Platinum is less dogshit but still bad.
Flawless opinion.
At least Platinum has fire types.
The only flaw in Emerald is lack of Physical/Special Split making some of the new Pokemon in it like Sharpedo and Corphish kind of shit. It is still miles above any of the 3d games and super shits of the Gen 3 remakes.
>The only flaw in Emerald is lack of Physical/Special Split
that's not a flaw
the battle facilities are far more enjoyable when you know pokemon actually have limited capabilities and can't just whip out any type with their best stat whenever they want.
>the battle facilities are far more enjoyable when you know pokemon actually have limited capabilities
Slaking presses Hyper Beam
Everything dies
>95 special attack
>90 special attack
>shit
play the game any time DStard
Sharpedo is 120 Attack and 95 SpAtt and Corphish is 80 Att and only 50 Att. Both of those are noticeable downgrades when both your STAB types run off the weaker stat. Imagine trying to call someone a tard and getting the numbers wrong when you have the internet in front of you.
>perfectly usable stats are bad because...they just are ok?
play the game any time DStard
>stated that the only flaw of Gen 3 was lack of split
>still somehow a DStard even though I'm showing favortism to a GBA era game
Okay illiterate mong
She doesn't care and she's happy.
I love her and wish her all the best.
Emerald's biggest flaw is that Ruby and Sapphire came first.
RS UI feels like its 10 years behind Emeralds, shit looks so jank
I'm still not buying Sword and Shield.
Nor Scarlet/Violet.
nor PLA
First modern game with all the systems in place that make the game work (Abilities, current stat system, double battles, etc). Good engine, good sprite work, pretty open world. Generally good mons, although I'd take gen 1/2 for that.
Obvious downsides that make me frickin' hate replaying it though, primarily the HM requirements.
ORAS is such an upgrade, i could play those forever
I thought people here hated ORAS, although I dond't know why
I like RS (and ORAS) better than Emerald. The only thing good is post-game otherwise it’s a worse experience, considering you have to play through the game once to unlock the frontier.
how is Ruby/Sapphire better than Emerald? Steven is a better champ and the exclusive Pokemon?
Maybe how many more Magma/Aqua interactions there are in Emerald?
It's true that Emerald is not that great of a third version aside from frontier and rematches
>unskippable PokéNAV calls that are fricking aids
It doesn't remove both version exclusives like Yellow and Platinum
IMO, Emerald has 3 main flaws:
1. Pre phys/spec split
2. Slightly small regional dex (needed more variety in water routes, a couple more Ghost and Ice types, Eevee, some missing counterparts, etc.)
3. No true day/night cycle
>No true day/night cycle
Aside from evolving Eevee this is a complete non-issue
And once again, but I think pretty much all anons in the thread said it already, no split basically doesn't matter though its better with it obviously
>1. Pre phys/spec split
salamence not being broken isn't a flaw
>3. No true day/night cycle
not having to wait 8 hours just to catch specific pokemon isn't a flaw
Emerald is my favourite game in the series but those are legitimate flaws anon. The physical special split is just better designed then assigning differences by type, and day night cycles are a good thing and just gives you more options to find something new.
I like the variety that comes from fighting against Magma and Aqua. Feels far better to play. But people do focus on the Frontier too much.
Sure love the variety of Zubats and Poochyenas
Sometimes I get the feeling a majority of /vp/ hates all the gens. I have seen shittalking for Gens 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8... Maybe the meme really is true and your first one is always your favorite, and the rest are either too ancient for you or too pozzed by your standards.
the meme really is true.
The drops in quality are between 4 and 5, then 6 and 7, and somehow Gen 4 and 5 are always lumped together, and 6 and 7 are always lumped together.
Also there's Gen 8 that's just not canon
4 to 5 was an upgrade. 5 to 6 was..... Ambiguous. Better in some ways, worse in others. Generally I viewed 6 as a pretty meaningful step forward that I hoped they improved on further, and thought SURELY THE FRANCHISE CAN ONLY GO UP FROM HERE, this is such a great base for the next gen to be built upon!
Unfortunately, 6 to 7 was a serious drop in pretty much every way that 5 to 6 improved. Blows my fricking mind to this day. 8... is an obvious mess. I have hopes for 9, but not great ones. My greatest hope for Pokemon would be letting Nintendo develop it internally. Just once. I want to see it.
This is the perspective of someone who's been in it from day one.
How do you not think 5 to 6 was a downgrade? Outside of 3D graphics and megas I guess, Gen 6 has nothing to offer and didn't feel fun to play through the story at all.
5 was great, and it got overlooked by the world at large for the following reasons:
>Extremely late gen DS game
I think this is the main one and the truest reason
>Seemed pretty fricking outdated since the somehow STILL hadn't been dragged into the polygonal age
Of course, in retrospect, those animated sprites are a lot of the best ones they made, and it's astonishing they did so much work on those only to dump them next gen, but it sure seemed absurd to be making another sprite-based game in Twenty-Goddamned-Ten
>Online was still spotty-ass DS shit that was functional but annoying to use
>Game uses all new mons for the main story, which means no previous gen nostalgia wank
And let me be real. There's a whole lot more redundant mons in this gen than any other, and a lot of designs that I find incredibly, annoyingly shit. I'd say there's about as many great ones as any other gen, but boy, a lot of stinkers, which they didn't need to have if they didn't commit to all new mons.
Gen 5 looks great in restrospect, but that's honestly forgetting the time it came out in. It came across as old and busted, a game developer cashing in at the end of a gen, even if now it's obvious that it was really one of their best efforts.
Gen 6 had the best online functionality of any gen before or since. It had pretty solid polygonal models for every mon. It simplified EV and IV manipulation, and made perfect breeding possible. The friend park system was cool. Megas, while competitives came to hate them, were frickin' cool. Less but great quality new mons. Feels snappy to play without changing the world design that much. Yeah the world design isn't good, but that only really matters for replays. It did a massive amount of fanservice for old fans of all gens. All these were great things, and the relative lack of animation, the techincal problems, the world design, all forgivable if they just carried the good forward and improved upon it. Buuuuuut as I said, didn't happen.
>How do you not think 5 to 6 was a downgrade?
I’m still waiting for you to refute this image, morono.
If you're being serious it's not a fair comparison because it's omitting gen 5 features while spreading out the gen 6 ones. For example, Bottom screen/multiplayer doesn't include the Entralink, Unity Tower, Black City/White Forest, etc. and Super Training and Pokemon Amie are copied onto Mini games even though they're part of the bottom screen section. This would be fine if it was an faithful comparison and included Dream World games for BW but it pretends that it being discontinued now means that it was never influential when the games came out, which seems to be the whole point of the pic.
Really makes the gen 5 games age poorly, half of the content were gutted just like that
On no other point than graphics/engine was 4 to 5 an upgrade. cope.
man they're both well past my nostalgia window, I ain't invested, just my opinion
I dont think its true my first gen was heonn but i like sinnoh more, i think all gens are enjoyable outside of 5 and 7
7 is the only gen I didn't finish the first time through. Fricking boring. Getting rid of the gym structure and world design was bad.
yeah thats why i dont like it the trials suck and hau pissed me off running over in cutscenes and waving his arms about like a spastic every 10 minutes, the same with gen5 found that boring and dropped it both times ive tried playing not sure why tho kek
emerald is cringe instead of you taking down kyogre or rayquaza steven makes you run and get rayzquaza to do it instead
