the tracks in this game are actually pretty damn good, it's a shame CTRNF had to gimp them so much because they didn't want to recreate the anti-grav gimmick.
I think it was for better. they probably could've pulled it off with the corrected physics, but those sections in CNK played so poorly, I could see why they scrapped them entirely.

How could a game that tried to be like Crash Team Racing ended up being SO bland?
like the anons above already said, they were able to copy the track lay-outs and design, but not the physics at all, which is a more difficult programming task. CTRNF got much closer on that front, but even then there were some pretty noticeable differences.
No, the original CTR was much faster than CNK, the boosts also felt like you were going much faster compared to the ones in CNK which are wet farts at best.
I'm not whining, I actually argumented towards welcoming gen6 saying it's only continuation of gen5 in spirit and gameplay mechanics and the real start of modern gaming mentalities was gen7
I just find it funny now that most of the gen6 threads are either "the Dreamcast was a failure" or "these PS2 games sucked"
From what I gather, Zembillas wasn't involved with CTR and Wrath of Cortex and he personally disliked how the character models evolved over time. He wanted to take it back to Crash 1 roots where characters were more like WB cartoon homages.
>Zembillas wasn't involved with CTR and Wrath of Cortex
WoC especially has very off-model looking characters and environment design. I love Crunch though >he personally disliked how the character models evolved over time
He liked Crash 4 actually. C4 was more cartoony than the remakes so I get it. >Terrific production. Bold and vibrant design.
Here's what he thought of Radical's tattoo Crash >There's some interesting things going on with the new Crash but there's also some basic design principles that were compromised
Outside of the more radical redesigns of the main cast the art in Radical's games is actually nice. Radical's next game would've been closer to classic Crash and I think it's the best modern design Crash ever had, better than C4 even. Too bad it was shitcanned
>nu-crash design which is just boring
I have to agree 2bh. He was kinda overdesigned with the fur patterns and weird mesh shorts and all that. Crash needs to be made of bold flat colours and simple shapes. Crash should be cel-shaded in fact. The only cel-shading used in the series was Boom Bang on the DS. It should be the most obious thing to do so it's strange it wasn't tried again.
Reminds me of this game. How could a title based on those amazing Battletanx N64 games be so bland, forgettable and lacking in features, despite having the same developer?
The 3DO Company must have been a nightmare place to work at for a creative person. Everything was rushed to appease the accounting and their business plans.
I worked on this piece of garbage, the controls weren’t as tight and perfect (no pedo jokes pls) because the shitty xbox port would’ve been impossible with such controls
how come? what made it hard to port tight ps2 controls to an xbox pad? genuinely curious
All the post Naughty Dog Crash games were handled by the israelites at Universal and i swear it’s like they’re intentionally making it bad. I worked on Wrath of Cortex, Nitro Cart, TwinSanity, and Tag Team Racing. No matter how better ideas were represented, they kept getting shut down due to time constraints for wanting to meet the holiday deadline to boost sales. Nitro Cart had to have the driving controls feel like underwater due to the regular tight controls (which were felt 90% like CTR) not working at all with the shitty xbox and for some retarded reason they had us ruin the PS2 controls as well and mot only the Xbox. I’m sure u all know about the ridiculous mess with TwinSanity and how the final game was only 50% of what it should’ve been and there’s more to that story too. And with Tag Team Racing it was so ridiculous at that point that i just quit the whole fucking thing and moved on with my life
Not larping. I was a massive fan of the original psx crash quadrilogy and to this day, crash 2 & 3 are both among my top 10 games ever. TwinSanity would’ve easily been even better than the original Naughty Dog Crash games had Universal didn’t have as many israelites in it. TwinSanitt would’ve been up there with stuff like Devil May Cry 3, Silent Hill 2 and MGS3; games so epic and fun that they’re still talked about nearly 2 decades later.
Unrelated but thought it would b nice to share, my gf at the time came up with some of the ideas that were implemented in TwinSanity as well as ideas that were cut
>TwinSanity would’ve easily been even better than the original Naughty Dog Crash games
that sounds a bit too hopeful.
but then again Ant Agony was one of, if not the greatest Crash level of all time. So I do take that as a small proof of the unrealized potential.

Multiply the fun of that level by 10 and you’ll get the fun that the full game would’ve had. It’s sad that the israelites at universal ruined it just for some extra shekels.
It was a bad idea to change the name from “Mania” to “TwinSanity” but it was foreshadowing for things to come since israelites usually end up destroying things that has “Twin” on them and would dance near them
maybe because i didnt play the original, or maybe because i played cnk with my brothers, but i dont think it's a bad game. definitely gets more hate than it deserves.

The tracks are good, the problem is that the racing feels so slow and the turbos dont feel nearly as satisfying as in the ps1 game.
So the game should be F-Zero, Wipeout and Outrun?

>all those threads realizing how boring gen6 was
Hey you, the guys who left at the rule change, it's okay you can come back now. We don't really like gen6.
>years after the he's stil trying
keep whining bitch nagger
>gen 6 was allowed on vr 7 years ago
its over.
almost time for allowing gen 7.

It replaced the Crash series entire aesthetic sense with Space Jam rejects.
It's literally the last Crash game with input from the original character designer. The Crash aesthetic was still intact with CNK and Twinsanity.
From what I gather, Zembillas wasn't involved with CTR and Wrath of Cortex and he personally disliked how the character models evolved over time. He wanted to take it back to Crash 1 roots where characters were more like WB cartoon homages.

>Playing with someone
>They win the race
>You stop dead, game's over
um, huh?
i had this one growing up but sold it because i didnt know wtf a crash was and thought he looked ugly

I linda like it
Only because tank games weren't exactly easy to come by at that time, I liked it too. But it was still a huge downgrade from BattleTanx
Fuckin loved Tag Team Racing when I was little. Loved the original CTR too. Thought Nitro Kart was meh
I worked on this piece of garbage, the controls weren’t as tight and perfect (no pedo jokes pls) because the shitty xbox port would’ve been impossible with such controls
big if true, is this why I thought Nitro Kart was meh?

Hope you're not LARPing, Twinsanity is the biggest 'what if' of vidya for me personally

Opinion discarded.
