>literally set in a hive city
>the entire story is just a chaos infestion caused by wrap fuckery in the 40k universe in the perspective of a civilian
>half of the characters are just 40k knockoffs(yeah, these fuckers are definitely not space marines/daemons/psykers just trust me bro)
>Gave up pretending that the game isn't set in the 40k universe halfway through and just straight up namedropped the fucking wrap
>managed to became semi successful
>meanwhile, games workshop just straight up ignored them entirely despite the games being fully monetized
>mind you it's fucking Games Workshop, the company infamous for copystriking anything that resembles their characters
How did project moon managed to get away?
Is that really the one you are questioning and not Warcraft/Starcraft?
Starcraft was obviously inspired by Whammer, yet Whammer went back around and was even harder inspired by Starcraft to the point of ripping them off, although Starcraft itself just completely ripped off Starship Troopers, so ultimately Robert Heinlein's family should sue Whammer and Starcraft into oblivion for the blatant theft.
everything rips off everything
>this meme
you clueless retards are comparing modern 40K designs with SC which were literally inspired by SC's designs, not the other way around. SC had jackshit to do with old 40K designs.
Unrelated but what do people see in this series? I know next to nothing about it but it looks like the purest definition of generic I've ever seen.
Fun characters.
Take your meds.
The whole point of the setting is that everything sucks. But (You) the outside viewer like the way it sucks.
>it's not real!
yes it is.LoR is just a 40k game.
Big fight with big gun, shoot other big fight with big gun. Grug not so big.
You know that thing you like? That you're a big fan of? Well I don't know about it and don't understand it, but it looks like the purest definition of generic I've ever seen.
It's for stupid bongs and is a stupid cope for the vast, all-encompassing empire that they lost.
Its because its largely the source of that "generic" for lots of people, even if its not the original one since lots of 40k stuff was inspired by even older things
I know next to nothing and I love it. I just play its videogames and paint miniatures.
It's not generic at all but it is pants-on-head retarded.
it's generic
literally just dune.
damn I didn't know dune had necrons and eldar
Elves and cyborgs have been around for a long time, anon.
40k is more than the sum of its parts, parts that are extremely exaggerated versions of already existing sci-fi and fantasy concepts. I don't much care for the lore aspects of 40k but it has a shit ton of variety and wacky shit in it. It's the scale of it all that sets it apart from other franchises.
Sadistic and dominant drukhari gf's
Depends, at this point it's a massive kitchen sink of science fiction that took its own 'grimdark' label more seriously compared to its more humble, comedic origins.
Watch the Astartes short film. I really don't like space elves, space orcs with inexplicable East End accents, or the discount zombie terminators that looked like they jumped out of a bad 80s cartoon, but there's a lot of entertaining material in there too.
literal autism
I see a 10 foot tall guy wearing mechanized armor with a lightning sword in one hand and a pistol that shoots rockets in the other.
a realistic struggle against evil by being the bad guy to fight it.
Space Dictatorships are essential to keep humanity safe, and gay things like democracy and "human rights" will get demolished by everything around them.
Its also why the Tau get a lot of human defectors
>Its also why the Tau get a lot of human defectors
It's funny how the greatest living Tau hero is considered an outcast because he doesn't blindly adhere to the Greater Good and actually thinks for himself.
>Farsight believes that the Ethereals are using covert means to influence the other Tau, although he himself has no proof of this and has been face to face with many Ethereals, including Aun'va, the wisest of them all, and lied directly to his face.
>Farsight however does not believe that the Tau can survive without the Ethereals, he has not shared his theories with anyone as far as I know, because he fears that without the Ethereals the Tau will regress back to the time of the Mon'tau, when the Castes were on the brink of wiping each other out after countless wars.
Ah yes farsight duality
honestly speaking they did a shit job with the whole "the Ethereals are evil" thing. Honestly, it wasn't shocking or jarring, it was just like... confusing? Their whole "grimdarkification" is just that the ethereals are now vaguely suHispanicious and have... mysterious potential mind control abilities. Maybe. But it's never been properly looked into or built upon. We were basically just handed a piece of paper saying
>the Tau are no longer necessarily good guys anymore even though everyone else is worse but they specifically are no longer maybe as good and that is important for you to know
It was all very arbitrary and undermined the juxtaposition of the Tau against the rest of the galaxy. It doesn't help that like 95% of the "ethereals are evil" stuff is from the totally unbiased point of view of Imperials.
The inquisitor genre is a small pond, relatively speaking
Personally I prefer the witch hunters in fantasy but commissars have their own based moments
generic is the last word I'd use to describe warhammer 40k, I have no idea how you'd get that impression
I don't get why people keep callin it generic when almost no other scifi setting decides to make its space opera post apocalyptic european dark age feudalism. With the exception of Dune.
Because people think GENEIRC is a nondescript insult.
but it's not even an accurate descriptor
40kfags are mentally ill even worse than jojofags at this point
why
Stealth threads are becoming better, I see, that's commendable.
Maybe they actually bought the license?
not likely. They didn't credit GW in any way.
Ignore my post. I'm retarded and didn't read the whole post lmao
Games Workshop doesn't care about some literal who indie game, as long as it doesn't affect their plastic sales.
>literal who indie game
it sold well. Not AAA tier but probably will get more revenue than boltgun or darktide.
Op what game are you even fucking talking about? Maybe mention that?
>You MUST give le big heckin' corporation its slice or face le consequences!
Fuck off garden gnome.
NOOOO!!!!I WANT TO REAP MONEY OFF BIG CORPO AND USE ITS IPS FOR COMMERCIAL USE WITHOUT GETTING THE RIGHTS!!!!
fuck off moron
gays like you deserve the scummy practices companies like Games Workshop employ, pig.
RABBI SHECKLESTEIN YOU HAVE BETTER SHIT TO DO THAN SHITPOST ON Ganker
Dis bro LIKE payin' a premium for plastic LMFAO
yes.
weakest corpocuck
yes.
What game?
WHAT THE FUCK IS LOR
ask your mom
It's a meme game for people who don't really like 40k but want to pretend they do.
Not him, but what does LOR stand for?

legend of reddit
Describe your ideal 40k game.
vr, 100% immersive, you plays as gullimanbuttfucking yvraine
Imperial guardsmen singleplayer horror game. No not fucking darktide shit
>imperial guard shooter but you swap to a new guardsman every time your current character dies
Boring
Boring. How about a shooter where you play as a Space Marine or a similarly elite warrior and instead of sitting out waiting to spawn again you take control of a guardsman amongst a squad and can provide support?
how about dark eldar porn game
Space Mehreens are boring as shit. There's so much fucking cool stuff you can use and you go for them?
Where's my Eldar action game where I play as an Exarch slaughtering hordes of Tyranids and casting spells left and right?
Where's my Ork looter shooter?
Where are my fucking RTS games?
you are an ungrateful moron
planetside 2 sized battles with light rts elements handled by a "supreme commander" type unit for each side that does things like send bombing runs, artillery strikes, ammo and first aid, and the like.
Sicarian Metroidvania
Just a more polished space hulk or 40K battlefield as one anon said in a past thread. https://youtu.be/VP7q47BDMBw
>40K battlefield
>all the different races can fight each other on big maps with vehicles
Yes please, and thank you
Just a virtual version of the tabletop game.
But balanced correctlyl
Dead Space type game where you're on a ship as a tech marine/priest and the gellar field starts malfunctioning.
Mercenary RPG set in the Koronus Expanse. Shoot ayys, get paid.
Planetside 2 but with IG vs ORKZ vs Eldar
I will never forgive them for eternal crusade
Borderlands but you play as a marooned gaggle of freebooter Orks on a world contested by a bunch of factions.
>Wargame, but 40k
>XCOM but you're running Deathwatch kill-teams against various aliens, has a Chapter Master-esque overworld where you're just trying to keep a sector of space stable
>Siege of Vraks multiplayer FPS in the vein of something like Red Orchestra 2 with multiplayer campaigns
An eldar jrpg
Tau city builder/politiks simulator. Basically just Cities: Skylines with a 40K coat of paint and RTS elements.
A picture says more than a thousand words
Why vindicare though? Eversors are literally made for movement shooters.
he clearly wants a 'sniper elite' type of game, not a movement shooter
Ok, I forgot sniper games were a thing, my bad. I honestly thought "Sniper Elite" was just a description of a class.
Sniper Elite has been the premier gratuitous nutshot simulator since 2005 my manhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8g_7YiPjns
Nah, I know there's a game where you shoot hitler in the balls, I just forgot about it
Fuck it, we're just dumping art folders now
Have you been living under a rock? Sniper Elite is a pretty notorious series of jankcore shooters.
>Sniper Elite
>A movement shooter
Necron MMO (or open world single player) where you slowly build up and customise your Necron. If this is too big of a scope, I'd like an in-depth Destroyer one, as they're basically infinitely customisable. I want to skim around while zapping noobs and further augment my Destroyer while dealing with the craziness that it brings. Especially fitting as Destroyers are generally like mercenaries so you're free to do what you want and help other 'cron.
Tau Mechwarrior. Enemies are imperial knights, admech and their titans, and an ork warband that is heavy on stompas and killa kans. Player faction is tau because of heavy customisation of their mechs. Their mechs can also fly and turn invisible and shit.
I guess a bloodletter slasher game where you just go back to warp every time you die(as demons do) would be neat too. Collect some skulls of named enemies and swap them for different powerups, spill some blood, please daddy khorne
Imperial Mechwarrior where you pilot a Titan, for the accurate, actual mechwarrior game feel and not a mecha game
armored core but Tau vs ALL
set in a hive city
GW does not own the concept of a big city
>>the entire story is just a chaos infestion caused by wrap fuckery in the 40k universe in the perspective of a civilian
lol no
>>half of the characters are just 40k knockoffs(yeah, these fuckers are definitely not space marines/daemons/psykers just trust me bro)
lol no
>>Gave up pretending that the game isn't set in the 40k universe halfway through and just straight up namedropped the fucking wrap
never happened
to became semi successful
yeah
, games workshop just straight up ignored them entirely despite the games being fully monetized
because they can't lol
>>mind you it's fucking Games Workshop, the company infamous for copystriking anything that resembles their characters
yeah and they're shit
I will never buy your overpriced plastic
I will use Tabletop Simulator to play older editions
I will use proxies
I will pirate books
I will keep playing LoR, LobCorp and Limbus
I will pirate Dawn of War
and there is nothing you can do about it
fuk u
its over
GW is such a shit company. Even Nintendo can do a good game every 2 or 3 years but GW just fucking accept every single shovelware or kusoge i can think off, damaging even more the brand.
GW doesn't give a shit about 40k vidya, they consider it marketing for the tabletop game which is where they actually make their money.
man I sure do love Project Moon. Making 40k fags seethe is a great bonus
like how come they got away with that level of copying?Like warhammer is kinda popular in moronland so I would think one of the more protective morons will stumble upon this (likely since they have a LITERAL PHYSICAL STORE) and call daddy GW bout this
what exactly was copying here
The warp
Space marines
Chaos daemons
>The warp
there isn't even a "warp" in 40k. Warp is the name of the business that makes the trains. The actual dimension the trains go through is literal empty space.
You didn't invent the concept of hyperspace travel.
>Space marines
there isn't even anything happening in PM space, no one goes to space and there aren't any marines anywhere
>Chaos daemons
there aren't any chaos daemons anywhere in any games
>There's no warp in 40k
Right. It's the 'immaterium' or some gay shit like that.Still basically the fucking warp
>There's no space marines
Look at the fucking rabbit team.they basically have the same design
>There's no daemons
The fucking abnos are daemons
>
bro do you think those concepts were created in warhammer? All that comez from 40s-50s science fiction books from Robert Heilen, Asimov and the likes of it.
Are you a teenager or seriously ignorant person?
Source
He literally gave you the source
>travel through another dimension
Starman Jones, 1954
>powered armor
Developed for the first time in 1890 by Nicholas Yagin, russian engineer and made as a serious project by the US Armed Forces as the Hardiman suit
>collective subconscious
Carl Jung
Starship Troopers is a big one.
>Right. It's the 'immaterium' or some gay shit like that.Still basically the fucking warp
no not really. There isn't a Warp in Project Moon. Like I said, the dimension the trains go through is empty space. It's the fucking Star Wars method of travel, hyperspace.
>Look at the fucking rabbit team.they basically have the same design
THIS is a space marine? Kek
>the fucking abnos are daemons
you did not invent the idea of "weird creature based on human concepts." That's what fucking demons are, are you going to sue the fucking bible
>space marines dress like this
Holy shit that's a sister of battle
>no boob armor
>faithless mercenary working for the highest bidder
>no mauls
>no bolters
>no prayers
>completely different color scheme
I meant her primaris goons of course
her troopers literally wear the same armor
I thought this was going to be a thread about E.Y.E and was waiting for the
>then they get to make an actual licensed 40k game
E.Y.E. is the best 40k mod that ever existed.
I thought it was more an SCP ripoff
what game?
Because none of their shit is remotely original, literally not one single thing and that's why they have to give retarded fucking names to
everything now
>space marines
a hundred antecedents for a generic idea
>daemons
They didn't invent fucking demons retard
>psykers
Just one of the many things they directly ripped from Dune
>set in a hive city
GW stole it from Judge Dredd
> half of the characters are just 40k knockoffsspace marines
So is half the cat and factions in WH40, GW stole the space marines concept from Starship troopers (recently they got dunked on in court for trying to wave their dick over the use of "space marine" on a sci-fi book), and dont get me started on the god emperor of mankind, Dune said they want it back.
>namedropped the fucking WRAP
The wrap is used in Startrek and is a dimension filled with tacos.
Project moon is a dishonest IP so it doesn't matter
>we invented space marines
>we invented elves
>we invented magic
>we invented demons
>we invented space travel
>we invented psychic powers
are 40k fans the Hideo Kojima of /tg/?
Basically but i think OP is pondering why the company known to be extremely anal about "things they invented" has not thrown the cease and desist letter at the game.
ah, right, on this case it's probably because they'd be laughed out of court, like they were when they tried to say they had rights to "space marine."
Why do you think they made that retarded Adeptus Astartes, Immaterium, Astra Militarum shit? Because they can copyright THAT.
Dont forget the aeldari.
Yeah, if they tried to claim the name "Eldar," the prosecution can quite literally open a Tolkien book and instantly smash their case to pieces.
Project Moon is a Korean company that can simply laugh and keep doing what they're already doing. If GW wants a fight it can go all the way over to Korea and try to argue their case with their courts.
It's the particular blend of all these things. GW didn't invent any of it, but if you copy them in a particular manner it comes off as a 40k copycat.
Well good thing PM feels more cyberpunk then anything. There isn't even any sort of religion. The closest thing is a cult that worships the concept of "fitting into your place in society" and some guys who hate prosthetics users
AT-43 is a better setting, and it barely got any development before it was abandoned.
>not a single space tiddy in sight
nah senpai.
if there's a setting that needs more love it's Infinity.
Damn, these little fellers look sleek. This is a human faction I can get behind.
Join the greater good, they have the best infantry
I got into tau purely because of the fire warrior's helmet design, fuck the mechs lmao
Ugly.
nta but I never got the appeal of infinity, looks like the most generic sci fi stuff ever imo
cool dudes, hot babes, some of the freshest sculpts in the industry.
adepta sororitas, although their power is Faith instead of Friendship
fair, to each their own
Yeah the infantry kicks ass, have two squads of fire warriors, one breacher squad, and two pathfinders (one being my first kit, other being a kill team that I wanted to redo)
I would have called it quits, but I got my hands on a start collecting box, 7 old crisis suits for cheap, and a stormsurge
Drowning the opposition in "fuck you damage" sounds fun
I REALLY like the infantry design, but damn if it the insanely powerful vehicles aren't hilarious
Looking at these, I kind of what to get take some of these Infinity minis and kit bash them to a make Gue'Vesa. All you would need to do is replace their gun with a pulse carbine, slap one of the tau's big ass shoulder guard on in and give it the right color scheme. I think it would look pretty neat.
Fuckers promised me blue pussy but all I got was globohomo in spaaace. Whatever, still better than imperium
The only way you'd get cool stuff like blueberry pussy is if your such an asset to the Tau that they'd be willing to make concessions to keep you around. Personally, if I was in such a position, I'd try to get my hands on one of them sexy mechs.
I really just want them to release a book written from the perspective of a Gue'Vesa. I think that would be interesting.
>I really just want them to release a book written from the perspective of a Gue'Vesa.
>Main character is a recently defected IG, has justifiable reasons, bu still feels kind of guilty, struglles with his honest faith in big E
>His sidekick is a gue'vesa from one of the human worlds in the tau empire, who never knew anything else and views imperium as completely fucked up
>They fight 'nids together or some shit like that
fund it
My biggest problem with minis is where the fuck does a newcomer start that doesn't cost an arm and a leg just to get off the ground. What do you start with to see if the hobby is for you at all?
if you are interested in the big names like 40k, there are rules for low point games that you can play with a handful of dudes that you think are cool.
there are also starter kits with two squads and some beginner rules that you and a friend can go splits on.
if you just like minis in general then there are many low cost "skirmish" games like Malifaux to get in to, but you'll have to convince your friends to get some too or you'll have no one to play with.
generic historical minis like Napoleonic infantry are always cheap if you just want some dudes to paint. there are also a number of small indie mini producers you can track down and collect.
firstly you have to ask yourself what you're in for. contrary to what you generally hear there are people who just collect minis they find neat and paint them. they don't actually "play" the game.
You buy some dirt cheap stuff like some historical soldiers or some reaper bones or nolzur's D&D stuff, a 5 dollar can of generic rustoleum or regional equivalent home/automotive primer and some acrylic paints and see if you can stomach painting all of what you bought
What are the magical girls of 40k?
Living Saints.
>Why didn't game get sued for basic concepts
Oy vey
