>has its own movie
>multiple spinoffs made, including some that are still being made to this day
>whole teams and multiple remakes dedicated to it
>still discussed to this day
>the girls are still the only ones people simp over
Just how did Final Fantasy VII become so popular?
because of the original game
they milked it dry
Diverse race cast gives it wider appeal.
>moron dick tree
Fucking zoomer you make me sick
being the best game in the series tends to do that. Unfortunately every piece of media aside from the original is trash
Play it and find out.
too bad you weren't alive in the 90s. people bitched about how it ruined the franchises
i lost many nuts to this video
it sucked trying to sift through all of the homo erotica between cloud and sephiroth to get to tifas giant tits
it's extremely hard to find now
>people bitched about how it ruined the franchises
Did not.
t: 80s' kid.
you must have never been on yahoo chat
I was deep into the internet by 1998 and I never saw anyone hating on ff7 at the time. It's only in recent years that I have seen screenshots of this hate and it was all from proto-/v/irgins on usenet and shit like that. Contrarians have always existed and they have always been confined to their cucktrarian sheds.
>t.poor kid who didn't have access to dialup internet
I still remember the smell of my cousin's room when we first played it and watched that opening scene. PS1 and cutscenes were new to us so we were really blown away.
>BO
We were 9.
I was 11
right time right place
Praystation was the biggest console at the time
Final Fantasy was a major IP and it was marketed to hell and back
First game to really lean into major cinematic setpieces and pull it off
Mix all of that together with the 90's kid generation's fervent, cult like worship of anything from the era and you have FF7
The lead girls in the game all have giant bushes
Consistent FF quality writing combined with revolutionary graphical advancements. I pity gays that missed the 3d transition era. It might look like ass now but it blew my 30yo boomer mind
Good character designs
Interesting world and lore
Long ass game
Fun mini games
>Good character designs
ah yes ssj gohan
>Interesting world and lore
giant corporation... LE BAD
>Long ass game
not even a long jrpg compared to others
>Fun mini games
snowboard mini game sucked
why is this game good again?
>ah yes ssj gohan
No, that's Crono
Gohan is a moron
It reached a wider audience
Final Fantasy VII was called Baby's First JRPG for a reason. Sometimes I forget that I'm browsing a website full of kids who weren't born when VII released.
>man baby gaming 2023
Ask a stupid question and get treated like an idiot. It's very simple.
you're lucky this is a blue board
Or what
or I'd be banned
>Just how did Final Fantasy VII become so popular?
because it was the best game in that era.
just as simple.
it has something for everyone
Even Chadwarden thinks FF got gay as early as 12
Right place, right time. Should have been FFIX.
Memorable story, fun gameplay, great settings and aesthetic, 10/10 soundtrack.
Just the impact it had of being on a new system and all the stuff they could do with cinematic, sound, and graphics.
Anime was huge in the 90s, FF7 was anime as fuck.
especially the fags trying to sell fan made comics on eBay
>Came at that perfect moment in time where people were impressed by the production values, without being put off by the gameplay.
>Marketed as THE Playstation game, and the Playstation had great marketing in general, which effectively cracked people's perception of video games being for children and nerds only
People might say generic this and that because they are clueless brainlets but FF7 is one of the most unique Rpg's ever made with incredibly iconic music, settings and characters.
The hipsters might cry and say: buh muh FF6! Yes is good but FF7 is just one of the best games ever made moron. No amount of crying hipsters or self-fellating game journos will change that. They always want to pretend like if FF6, 9 or 12 are THE FF games but they are just butthurt contrarian faggets that should get cancer and die a very painful death... Fucking neckbeards pieces of shit.
On a side note: don't expect to understand shit by playing the remake though. They already ruined it.
it's one of the best osts in the franchise
FFVI feels like a prototype for FFVII. There are a lot of similarities and basically everything VI does is done better in VII, outside of the ballsy twist and gameplay structure change halfway through VI. I've always considered the VI fanboyism to be contrarianism.
When this game first came out it was being marketed solely by how graphically advanced it looked (in cutscenes) and how cinematic the story was. A lot of people who had never played an RPG before bought this game due to the marketing campaign. It was their first exposure to the idea that a game could be story focused or have a large world to explore. RPG fans are used to these things but to the new demographic it felt like FF7 had invented these aspects. It sticks in their minds even if they went on to play other RPGs because it was a first for them.
