It was fun I'm assuming they will nerf Psyker when it comes out because they were so fricking strong
I loved Psyker, but I think we're like two out of twenty people who actually played one. The only class I saw less than Psyker was Ogryn. I just hope this means both of them are safe from nerfs. Hopefully the devs will be too preoccupied with making the game run over 20fps to mow down my boyos.
I don't see any reason to even play Veteran. Ogryn and Psyker are simply just the best classes in the game.
You would think Veteran would be useful for picking off ranged units but even that doesn't work in practice since enemies have hitscan and hitstun and you can be shot by multiple enemies at once
The Zealot is just okay, with good stun grenades and a decent engagement gap closer. But why would you play the Zealot when the Ogryn is a fricking beast that has transcended humanity to become the ultimate rusher and meat shield and and CC master and melee god?
I found the zealot to be an amazing safety net character. It’s very hard to go down also very easy to get the team back up with the stun grenades. It’s like the Ogryn but with less blocked shots since you can rush into a crowd then crouch and let the range guys pop heads.
Veteran has the ranged damage but also good crowd control. Free grenade every like 40 secs with good damage and throws people onto ground. And trying to rush most ranged enemies on higher difficulty is fricking suicide. Remember that veterans get perks for ranged combat and can regain toughness with gun kills unlike other classes, so they can actually go toe to toe in shootouts much better then the other classes. Psyker is good but can't clear tons of traitor guardsmen fast enough to matter.
once psyker has the not conflagration staff his aoe capabilities are actually game changing
That's true. I only saw it in action a bit tbh.
>I don't see any reason to even play Veteran
later on they get massive bonuses, like free toughness regen, "invisibility" to ranged units, armor penetration etc. and the ability to thin hordes and kill weaker specials almost instantly when they appear
I was disappointed with psyker myself but I didn't level it enough I guess
psyker is only busted on lower tier difficulty. Don't get me wrong, they are still strong, but when you get to tier 4, then horder clearing is critical and there are multiple elites running around and they don't die to a headburst.
everyone seemed weak as shit compared to vt2
psyker is weak imo. the head popper takes too long and it takes multiple hits to kill the armored ones. the only real useful ability is for 2 types of mobs, the armored ogryn's and that's only because you can immediately daze them and stop their movement.
gameplay was fun but stability was fricking shambles. I expect it to be the exact same on release
>his last thread got 0 replies
LMAO loser
Thanks for the reply :^)

It was fun and i'll probably buy it.
I had fun but holy frick i need to upgrade my pc at some point. GTX 1060 6gb/i5-7600k/24gb ram and the game ran like at 20fpss average and lower while highest was like 35 empty environments while looking at the scenery.
What res were you playing at?
Plus it's beta version, sure there probably won't be much optimisation moving forward but can hope
2560x1080. i can play vermintide 2 just fine, but the game is coming out next month anyway so i doubt there'll any performance improvements.
Shit sucks if devs (even fatshark) are falling back on the GPU market pushing the latest models to cover their lazy asses
Too much melee even as vet guard, lasgun sucks.
Why is not okay to mop zombies with a laser rifle from the future but a shovel killing 10 zombies with one swing is totally fine?
No inquisition merc kroot character.
Soundtrack is cool
I think Fapshark is playing to their strengths. Most people who praise Vermintide praised it for the visceral melee combat. I can only assume that they kept Darktide melee heavy because they don't have confidence in their abilities to make the ranged combat as satisfying as the melee. Which is a shame, but honestly the combat is satisfying enough even with the lacking ranged weapons, and they can justify it by saying that since the players are just prisoners, they wouldn't be given much ammo. Or something.
If you look at eternal crusade melee was OP for a good long time, then bolters got a relatively small damage buff and melee became obsolete overnight. There is a binary choice between melee or ranged being the most powerful, they will never be equal. For the setting of 40k melee having the advantage is probably best in the long run.
I think regardless of balance, if you make both of them fun, people will use them. I remember using the flare gun across the Far Cry series, not because it was particularly powerful, but just because it was a cool way to deal with things. The problem isn't just that ranged is weak, it's also not very satisfying. Adding bullet penetration, better gibbing, or letting you punch baseball-sized holes through cultists would absolutely mitigate some of player's apprehension to the ranged combat. And bayonets. They should add bayonets. A flashlight should be standard kit, give the auto-rife a bayonet instead.
for sure, i think simply how enjoyable the game is will make it do better than spacehulk deathwing. I might give deathwing a playthrough as im waiting for darktides release.
lasgun is the strongest gun you have, the high dmg variant one shots every weak enemy
Luv me ripper gun
Luv me bashin’ stick
Luv me Emprah
Simple as.
Can’t wait for bullgryn shield.
OST is sublime
Game is fun
i enjoyed it very much. i really hope they give us another beta before launch as i cant go back to playing vermintide now, it feels wrong
Vermintide 2 but with less character, enemy variety, saturation, visual clarity, build diversity, weapon diversity, meaningful changes to combat, and less features.
Day 1 buy.
this. i have fatshark stockholm syndrome and i am ashamed
Gtx 1070, r5 5600x I didn't have a great time, constant sub 60 fps drops at 1080p everything is grey/brown on low graphics, it's clearly a unfinished game pass game
everyone was lagging due to the servers shitting themselves and no shit it's unfinished
I liked my demo. Gonna buy it. It's just more Vermintide 2.
Why would you need anti-cheat for a game like this? Vermintide 1 and 2 didn't have anything of the sort, I was speedhacking with bots for fun
There's no fricking reason to have anti-cheat in a non-competitive game
If the grind is boring, frick it, let people cheat in mats if they want
But I guess they're going to monetize the game to hell and back and can't possibly have you cheat in the premium currency to buy shit.
Vermintide had clear prices on cosmetics, the end, do it like that.
I will buy it, but I hope they were hiding some stuff because man I can see it getting more boring than Vermintide 2. Darktide has to compete with CW and unless it has a Chaos Waste tier mode I can't see it being as good. Even something like Weaves-but-good would be cool
>no procedurally generated maps
no buy
simple as
not gonna play the same maps over and over again
>procedurally generated maps
I'm not gonna play the same soulless "1 billion combos we swear" generated garbage over and over again.
handcrafted maps or no buy
If you've ever played a lot of a procedural map generated game of this type like Deep Rock Galactic, you'll start noticing the same caves over and over again. It's the same set pieces with a different coat of paint, rearranged. Every time you walk into the room, you know you've been in this exact layout 20 times.
as opposed to actually literally being in this exact same place the second time you play it
If I'm going to see the same set pieces, they are better as thematic, beautifully crafted landmarks. It's like a themepark.
Procedural gets stale faster, when you're really there for the gameplay, not the map variety.
Yes but now it's the exact same place but with a thought out level design and it looks pretty, so it plays well and looks nice, instead of kind of but not really being different while having poorer design all around.
Procedural maps can be interesting, but they work much better for certain games. A team FPS needs good map design first and foremost, procedural generation is often a hindrance, and when you are trying to balance melee vs. ranged along with a cast of elite characters and horder, knowing a how a map works and being able to play around it is great.
It also makes it easier for the devs to touch up maps after playtesting and feedback.
Even in something like XCOM vs. XCOM2, the procedural maps were just a different flavor, and didn't have a huge clear advantage over XCOMs handcrafted maps.
While in X-COM, procedural maps worked better because of the more simulation nature of the gameplay and balance.
I loved it
>compromise your PC
>cheaters still exist
What did they mean by this?
so that's why i smelled popcorn while playing
I tried to like it because I am a 40k gay, but DRG spoiled me.
Horde shooters just don't do it for me anymore because they are just two-dimensional, whereas the bugs come from everywhere.
This dwarf went fast, which is unnatural and abhorrent and justly led to his demise.
They don't come from EVERYWHERE, if they did they would make their own tunnels. Making a bunker works pretty damn consistently, its not like a cave leech is munching through the roof after you.
Some of the bigger bugs will tunnel after you in you try to bunker, they added one in specifically to counter bunkers
>moron driller insists on bunkering
>mfw a shellback gets inside the bunker somehow
It's like pinball. But, you don't get to be the ball.
Out fricking skilled
I dunno it was cool but
>no careers so no changing your signature skill so ogryns just have a mob knock down from day 1 to heat death of the universe
>every level focuses on a different ending so the game will launch with 3 levels and have no natural story progression and all levels will be the same undercity theme
>that random ass luck of the draw mission system from fricken Payday of all things
>no more tomes or grimoires that spawn naturally so there's little reason to replay or even explore levels unless it has an optional objective
>grimoires being in considerably less interesting spots
Honestly unless all updates like classes and levels are going to be free I think I prefer Vermintide over Darktide. About the only thing I liked about Darktide that was changed from Vermintide was of course the normalisation of ranged enemies and ranged combat but I still think I still prefer any other coop shooter over it.
I'll give it a miss at launch. I might pick it up later down the line when I can get the game + most of the post launch content for like $20 like I did with Vermintide.
>Dropped onto a Tyrant
fricken NICE
It convinced me not to buy it
I love VT2, but I also bought it for 20 bucks about 2 years after it came out. I'm not so desperate for new games as to grab it on release.
What can you do as the Psyker and the Ogryn? As in the class abilities.
Psyker has a vent ability that causes an age explosion around themselves
The other one from the beta was to make enemies heads assploded. Which I must say the crunch of the pop and the lingering warp stuff from the beck hole is a nice touch.
Ogryns was to charge forward and knock b***hes around or stun em. He also carries things without the penalty of the snivellies but that's not a stated ability it's just a bonus from being as big as 50 pallets of fray bentos pie
adding onto this, Ogryns have big health bars, but they are so big it factors alot into gameplay. Since you tower over team mates and enemies, you'll be targetted by ranged enemies way more. In that way the Zealot is still a better melee fighter for dealing with the mobs whlie others fight off ranged enemies, it's a pretty interesting dynamic.
Ogyrn also is harder to stagger and can revive team mates easier without being interrupted.
