Necromancer Occulist is fun. Having your minions kill everything. Once you get a helmet that raises 6 skellies at once you become a god (unless you're fighting the superbosses)
ARPGs just aren't very fun. I put thousands of hours into Diablo 2 in my teens, also played D3, the Torchlight games, Grim Dawn, Path of Exile, a few others. I gradually realized the act of collecting items was the only thing keeping me around. Have you ever actually experienced an adrenaline rush from the act of playing one of these games? Or felt like you achieved some feat of pure skill or intellect?
The truth, Ive put a fair few hours into these games (in the low hundreds). The satisfaction seems to be in speedrun autism or long grind with small payoff at the end.
Doesnt pair well with my read every item description and try and come up with fun builds brand of autism because there's better games that dont require tens of hours for that payoff.
Build around cool MI modifiers
Consider installing the GD Community League mod for more such if you can't find any in vanilla that interest you, there's some interesting ones there like this one and pic related

Failing that, install zoomzoom mods like DAIL if you're just desperate for something faster
honestly, there is a reflection build that made me lol the first time i tried it.
i can't remember the specifics but you specialize in reflecting damage back to the enemies. i think you need to play as the class with a totem for it to work, if i remember correctly.
seeing enemies just fall dead as they get near you or die as soon as they touch you was pretty awesome. however, i think that build eventually got diluted from all of the patching that crate does on the game.
i swear, most of their gameplay patches are "oh, someone managed to create a fun build; let's patch it out as quickly as possible."
These games are only fun if you autistically obsess over grinding for items and combining them to get an optimal build. If you enjoy gameplay instead of meta stat-whoring, these games aren't for you
Ahh the eternal filter strikes again. The problem is it isn't instant gratification like D3 or PoE. You really have to work for your build. This filters zoomers hard. Also, you have to unlock later difficulties, but you have the option of turning on Veteran mode on Easy. As for speed, anybody coming ion from Pinball aRPGs can get Grim Internals, bump the speed modifier to 1.03-1.06 and you're off flying.
It's the best and most complex aRPG on the market. But it does not hold your hand. So plebs mad. Luckily it mostly filters PoE players, so the GD community is pretty good.
> Trying this hard.
I said there are ways it can be set up, and this filters people. You in fact just got filtered by basic Goddamn English. Piss off and go buy some more map stashes, homosexual.
Gotcha. Refunded.
you have a small brain
the entire hack&slash genre is for small brains
>pick demolitionist
>put points into fire strike
>you are now having fun

Try Crucible or Shattered Realm.
I think grim dawn is just bad
I got tricked into buying it and you just stand in place and hold down the gun button to win.

their patches also break mods. i have a dawn of masteries playthrough right now, is it possible to downgrade versions?
Just pirste an older version

Download grim internals
set speed to 1.3x
go demolitionist and occultist with double pistols and play the game as a shooter
you are now having fun
you can't cause it's mediocre game pretending it's something better.
My main problem is that so many cool skills are implemented as procs.
No, I don't want a 15%chance to summon a meteor shower, I want to summon the meteors myself.

>this counts as filter
Let's see your crate kill.

Get GDstash and add yourself an item that lets you start the game on Legendary difficulty right away.
I agree it is boring and easy. Ultimate is fun and challenging depending on your build but normal/elite is a snoozefest.
>slow
What? Just how fast is the standard in these games now? GD is full on adhd mode compared to, say, Diablo.
