How do we combat video game piracy?

How do we combat video game piracy? It's seriously hurting the industry and putting lots of honest devs out of business.

What you really meant to say:

      >meeeeeeeeeee meeeeeeeeeee meeeeeeeeeee meeeeeeeeeee meeeeeeeeeee, make everything about me, meeeeeeeeeee meeeeeeeeeee meeeeeeeeeee meeeeeeeeeee, I don't want to share the spotlight with anyone, I don't see anyone else as people, the world should revolve around me and only me, me me me me me, look at meeeeeeeeeee!

Why couldn't you just be honest?

It is the mentality of a spoiled brat crying because it's his sibling's birthday and for once someone else is the center of attention. Is that what you are? Just a crying little brat?

No, he means he's in the extreme majority of people who like to buy video games and like to shoot stuff, oggle hot women, big explosions, and stuff just being awesome. And games should probably target to that most common denominator if they want to succeed.

Your masturbatory aid(s) of LLGBTQAGQDZD++ targets the 1% of the weird people of the 10% of the progs of the 25% of gamers. You don't have a target demographics, and every times you insert a fat disabled black transwoman, you're really saying that it's all about you. Not your public.

    >The European Commission paid €360,000 (about $428,000) for a study on how piracy impacts the sales of copyrighted music, books, video games, and movies. But the EU never shared the report—possibly because it determined that there is no evidence that piracy is a major problem.
    >"This positive effect of illegal downloads and streams on the sales of games may be explained by the industry being successful in converting illegal users to paying users," the study authors write.

Only if you pirate indie. Pirating AAA is morally correct, as giving money to corporations is always the incorrect choice.

  18. 2 weeks ago
    Anonymous

Its a non issue t b h. Only third worlders pirate and they pirate AAA slop. Indie devs do it for passion not money. ANd they can only earn some money by being on gamepass. Good quality devs swim in money, Cdred, rockstar, baldurs gate, fromsoft etc. If its a slop it is what it is.

  19. 2 weeks ago

    I'm literally pirating free games.
Pirated versions are always better, since they remove the bloat at best, change nothing at worst, and you tend to not be able to automatically update the game which is always a plus since QA is for Qretardedpajeets Afuckingshitup.

Fuck off, Piracy is important, your game doesn't need to exist and doesn't serve any purpose, you will never be unique.

  25. 2 weeks ago

I have always been an anti-piracy Chad my entire life, but even I have to accept piracy is VASTLY more morally sounds than always online GaaShit. If the only path to true ownership is to pirate, then AHOY it is.

  26. 2 weeks ago
    Anonymous

Piracy doesn't affect me one bit. Anons torrent and I still get to play game. Anons torrent and I don't even notice the so-called "crippling DRM". Anons torrent and games still cost the same price.

It hasn't affected a single thing with my Vidya experience. I haven't torrented a game since I was a teenager but I don't even need to now since I can afford to buy whatever I like.

So, why would I want to combat it? Let people pirate if they want to, doesn't change shit.

  27. 2 weeks ago

Make prices in third world countries fair
Price games according to their inherit value, with $60 being the highest, games launch at quite a high price
Games need to be more than a minimum viable product for people to be more loyal to them as well

However none of these would actually raise profits in the short term so it won't happen

Why would you buy games when pirating is free, quicker, and convenient ?
You type "[name of game] download "free"" in google, and use the first result.

Click click click, in your HD, clickety click, installed, click click, playing.
No DRM, no bloatware, pre-patched, even pre-modded.
