when i played ffx as a kid i liked it, but when i grew up and figured out a way to game the system it became pretty boring. haven't managed to make myself unlock wakka's ultimate weapon in any replay since my first one. shame because they put a ton of work into it.
I love it, ton of fun, wish there was an expanded version of it.

Playing the way you're supposed to is also very easy since the game is so tactical and has a counter for everything along the standard Sphere Grid path. Spamming Mix and Haste/Delay/Quick Hit is just boring as frick.
Did you miss that the topic was Blitzball and not the main game? If you can use Quick Hit and Mix in Blitz I'd like to see it
Ffx mini games for unlocking the ultimate were all cringe, sorry japcucks, I'm not spending Literal hours of my life to unlock a weapon that hardly makes any difference by the end of the game
I just recruit that Al Bhed guy who can swim circles around everyone else. Rin, maybe? But he makes it basically a cakewalk against anyone but the guado and even then you've got Tidus to Jehct Shot those speedy little frickers. The Ronso are horrenously fricked and might lose 0-8 against me. Once you know who the best people are to recruit for Blitzball, it becomes pretty easy
yeah exploits are easy to pull off but the game itself is boring especially if you hate sports
It's completely idiotic. And I hate how much of the game seems to revolve around it. It's like at a certain point FF became more interested in really stupid ideas than actually functioning ones.

It's my favorite Final Fantasy minigame by far, though I do wish some aspects of it were a bit better executed. It's a bit too easy to trivialize the difficulty even if you aren't going out of your way to abuse the AI.

I would slog through hours of Triple Triad before I ever did blitzball again.
I don't think its that fun but I think that more JRPGs that want to do minigames to break up the pacing should also commit to more complex ones that you play multiple times and are tied to the game's story/characters rather than one-offs.
I appreciate that the attempt was made.
FFX's misstep is that most RPG players are skinny losers who were jealous of athletes in school and have had to cope with it ever since, so they have a negative opinion of it from the premise.

I don't know why people b***h so much about it. I won the league and got that ultimate weapon thing using the original Besaid Aurochs team. Wakka and Tidus are more than enough to win any game.
Never actually understood it, so i gave up trying to play much of it.
