It has broader appeal in its core premise - a colony doing whatever you tell it to. You could very well male a prison out of it too. Architect is only just prisons.
This one is correct too if we consider the situation in the context of DF and Rimworld.
I haven't played dorf but from what my friend told me after playing it - I can already see why rimjob is being trashed by dorgays.
In rimjob your colony died because Tynan pulled 500 tribals out of his ass and crashed your PC. Or pulled a thrumbo out of his ass that kust randomly rolled the manhunter. Or pulled a blight out of his ass that nuked your crop. Or pulled an explosion out of his ass that discharged your entire powerplant into your storage area.
Meanwhile my friend's fortress nearly perished because it was at the base of a mountain, and during spring all the snow from the top of it melted and tsunami'd all over him.
Rimjob is as artificial as it gets in all of its interractions. Dorf seems much more organic from what I've been told of it. Either way regardless of whether dorf sucks or not - I know rimjob does cause I played it.
Last time I played Prison Architect, it was still far from finished. The devs sold it to Paradox, and instead of fixing the thing, began selling DLC.
Rimworld is equally unfinished. What annoys me, are some of the basic Prison Architect features that are still missing in Rimworld >Water (PA Toilets and showers are good, but RW should go beyond that and do drinking water management) >Windows >Room designations (bedroom, living room, yard, etc) >Preferred pathing (don't walk through the kitchen unless you are the cook) >Personal fricking space (why do colonists not respect other people's bedrooms?) >Laundry
Both are good games and both are far from finished
i 100% agree but i also like rimworld. its vanilla experience is just right imo and adding mods or the dlc just unnecessarily bloats it. yes, its simpler than df, but that was its appeal. too many people just want it to be df and load it down with mods to make it more tedious.
rimworld sold more
This is the OG. They sell more because they water it down for plebs
moron

moron take, DF's systems work in isolation while RW's sytems all interact with each other.

Can you elaborate on that? I don't recall RimWorld's "systems" interacting with each other.
How do I beat Sea Ice without cannibalism?
Except for lucky self-tames? No clue.

frick rimworld
