Very important. In the past I wanted the things I love to be widespread, now I realize how many of those people will join without a single ounce of love for the thing and ruin it.
At the end of the day it's mostly the devs fault because they should care more about the people who would be around if it weren't popular but if the players simply weren't there to tempt them then good riddance.
Be as openly negative about everything bad in them as possible. Not only is it criticism to hopefully make it better in the future but it pisses off the people who disagree and most people do not like negativity.
Hell, I thrive in it and I still have to take breaks from time to time because it does wear on you.

there is little more to it than that, a bit before and a bit after. the orphanage is on the beach in Okinawa, Saejima broke out of prison on an island/peninsula whatever it was and swam to the beach, where he collapses exhausted. Kiryu is alerted by one of the kids i think then brings him to the orphanage for recovery (he does not know where this man came from)

Kiryu approaches Saejima in the next scene, mentions he noticed how he was looking at Haruka, and asks him if he's been locked up for a long time, correctly assuming he's just busted out of prison. it's a bit of character development on Kiryu being a perceptive guy, and a segway into his admission of being a convicted murderer, and what he did to land in there.
they could have cut straight from Saejima being plucked off the beach to a fade to black to him and Kiryu sitting and talking about how he got there but that's fucking boring storytelling.
