>They already confirmed next year
1. they didn't
2. even if they did it would be the fifth time they confirmed a date thus fare
it's vaporware, deal with it
That’s moronic.
They already have precedent for releasing with the early access model, and they have absolutely no way to monetise the product after the one time purchase, which will give severely diminishing returns. The idea they can float a company on the tiny market of people willing to pay AA prices for an early access RPG is so fricking stupid you must have had a stroke while writing it.
This has to be the most desperate tortanic chasing homosexualry I’ve ever seen.
I bought it like 2 years ago and it's still in early access. Every time they come out with a new zone they act like it's a massive update, when the first 2 had 100s of zones/locations/whatever.
Why couldn't Pillars of Eternity or Disco Elysium just have been Baldur's Gate 3?
What we have of Act 1 is far better than Fort Joy or Cyseal were, so I am optimistic that the longer dev time means the last portion of the game isn't a massive frick up.
Not 100s but alot, and in the case of BG1 most of them were empty wilderness shit modern game engines could shit out in 30 minutes with some basic tools.
DE is far from what most CRPGs try to do and they could never produce a combat-focused RPG and keep the same quality in other ways. DE worked because it wasn't combat focused, and your skills weren't meant for combat.
>Why couldn't Pillars of Eternity or Disco Elysium just have been Baldur's Gate 3?
Why do CRPGs need to be Baldur's Gate at all? Baldur's Gate was a good series of RPGs for their time. Make new shit and don't try to be "the next Baldur's Gate".
If People want to play Baldur's Gate then just fricking play Baldur's Gate.
>Why couldn't Pillars of Eternity or Disco Elysium just have been Baldur's Gate 3?
Because Baldur's Gate is not supposed to glorify IRL mental illnesses
you do know that Larian EA isn't indicative of the whole game right? they're vertical slices, a sandbox for players to test things in the first act of the game.
They are not in the early access as of now but through datamining there have been some dialogue and character models found. Another race that has also not yet been implemented is the half-orc.
It seems that Shadowheart is the one character that game seems to follow heavily at least from what we can see in act 1. But I personally prefer Gale, although each of the companions so far have more evil alignment. I think Gale is one of the more good aligned or at least has good and intentions but lost in his pursuit for power. And he is pretty charming and witty.
Its not officially any of that shit. You can romance the elf as a bloke I think though Its pretty hard not to actually, he's pretty wiener hungry, you have to be super mean to him or he will want it
All of the companions are able to be romanced by either male or female characters. The only thing that impacts it like in many other rpgs is whether they favor you depending on your actions. Other than that it is factored by your engagement in expressing interest should the prompt arrive. However in early access some are more difficult to begin than others. One infamous example would be Gale, trying to trigger his questline to proceed the romantic encounter.
No, it was not exclusive to stadia. But seeing as stadia is now out of commission, it will likely impact development seeing as how that platform is no longer in service.
>the subclass I want to play most, which is the most vanilla basic-b***h thing, Champion Fighter, is still not implemented
I know battlemaster is vastly more popular (and effective) but damn
It is unfortunate that many subclasses and other features such as reactions still have yet to be implemented. I think Larian won't put those in though until full release sadly.
At least you'll probably get it. I'm waiting for the swordmage cantrips (Booming Blade et. al.) that make gishes really shine and I doubt they'll ever add them.
I know those were both good, but honestly I just really hate D&D 3.x. (I'm not enormously fond of 5e, but it's tolerable.) I'd be interested if they ever do a Pathfinder 2e game--I'm kinda surprised Paizo hasn't pushed for that yet.
>no genie Warlock >no swashbuckler rogue >no beast barbarian >no drunken monk
granted that the later is not really good in the ttrpg and we have no idea how it will turn out in the game
Although the combat system is turn-based in comparison to the original series RTWP. I think it has been an enjoyable experience despite that. There are still many systems and classes that have yet to be implemented. I think it's going along fine, but I agree that it would probably be better to wait until release.
From what I heard, Larian wanted to showcase companions that were more evil aligned or at the very least morally grey. Although there is not a technical system of alignment like in the original games. There are going to be more good aligned characters based on datamining such as Minsc.
It’s got serious potential, provided it’s not front loaded to act 1.
The fact you’re given so much freedom to complete the main quest so far is refreshing; it’s not just railroading you into open wallet, open wallet sarcastically or kick a puppy
>no point realized it fricking sucked.
They actually did and Sven admitted it.
Problem is, that was post release when they realized EA players complaining wasn't just some fringe complaint and it was universally despised.
Will BG3 be Larian listening before or after, this time.
I can’t think of any one mechanic as wide sweeping as armour in BG3 that outright sucks balls, so they probably won’t have this issue.
Dice is the only one that comes close, but that’s already been addressed to a degree with weighted dice, and I’m willing to bet that high rolls or flat checks will be one of the first major mods out when the game releases.
I normally hate the idea of release ir broken and fix it later mentality, but Larian at least don’t deliberately release shit so their attitude comes off as due diligence rather than expecting applause for the bear minimum
I really enjoyed Divinity 2. Shame the remake or special edition or whatever the frick it is nerfs you so hard
I know those were both good, but honestly I just really hate D&D 3.x. (I'm not enormously fond of 5e, but it's tolerable.) I'd be interested if they ever do a Pathfinder 2e game--I'm kinda surprised Paizo hasn't pushed for that yet.
Isn't BG2 2.5 or whatever? I liked it back in the day
>2.5
There's no such thing as a half editon. Please stop falling for Wizard lies. BG2 is simply a really shitty implementation of 2e with some splatbook shit.
I wanted to check it out briefly and ended up dumping over 50 hours into it and absolutely loving it.
Haven't made a second character, I'll wait for the full release.
It has become my most anticipated game out of all the stuff I'm keeping an eye on currently.
Same, some friends recommanded it to me for a coop playthrough. I wasn't even familiar with CRPG but ended up playing it for 100 hours. This game has massive mainstream potential contrary to Solasta or even Pathfinder.
I had the same experience, I knew I was going to buy it anyway, so I pre-ordered and I've played through twice when they released the forge, with different routes/characters etc, must be about 60+ hours. It's going to be one of those games were the online will also make it replayable for years. Got a few mates also looking forward to it that I played Divinity with.
That's usually my approach but I've just seen people talk about the series like DOS2 was just better all around so you could go straight for it. I was wondering if the first one is terribly dated or something.

>I was wondering if the first one is terribly dated or something.
It feels it going back, you can tell the size/scope of the game feels more like an indie compared to DOS2.
Story wise it doesn't really matter. It's not a direct sequel situation.
I really enjoyed both, I'd say DOS2 has more depth in its combat, you have more abilities and spells, there's more tools at your disposal etc. To me it just felt like a better DOS1.
Some people dislike that status effects went from percentage chance in DOS1 to having to strip away the type of armor that protects from the status you want to apply but I didn't really mind it, it just changes up how you play and how you prioritize targets. They might tell you that because of this you should focus on either physical or magical damage for your entire party but from my experience having a mix of spell-casters and physical damage dealers in your party works perfectly fine and IMO is a lot more fun.
I'd say give DOS1 a try first and if you're not feeling it move on to 2 (do keep in mind that Fort Joy can be a bit of a slog). Spellcasters are very very powerful in DOS1 btw, our party consisted of 2 mages, a rogue and a warrior.
The greatest strength of the DOS games is the combat in my opinion.
I think the fact that the recent D&D Spelljammer book has Minsc on the cover makes me think Wizards of the Coast is pushing Larian to bring him back, too.
Seems weird to include a character from a 20 year old video game series on the cover of your big campaign/setting book if you weren't banking on it's cross-promotional potential because you're thinking the Larian game will sell like hotcakes and boost Spelljammer sales as a side effect.
As of know from what I remember there is Human, Elf, Half-Elf, Dwarf, Halfling, Tiefling, Dwarf, and Gnome. Half-Orcs and Dragonborn are still unplayable but as mentioned above
They are not in the early access as of now but through datamining there have been some dialogue and character models found. Another race that has also not yet been implemented is the half-orc.
, a head model has been datamined along with other racial tags for dialogue.
How many of the PHB races are in the game now?
Can I play as half-orcs or dragonborn yet?
They are not in the early access as of now but through datamining there have been some dialogue and character models found. Another race that has also not yet been implemented is the half-orc.
I guarantee Half-Orcs will use Halsin's body model.
Probably, there are already mods that have been made to make characters with that body type along with a female equivalent derived from Karlach's body model.

Nice! Half-orcs are chads and genuinely underrated.
I sure hope they go easy on the whole rolling dice for every action you make.
PlagueOfGripes summarises it pretty well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJgQlScrdkA
It's also a VIDEO GAME, it absolutely should forego somd DnD mechanics for the sake of actual fun. Reloading the game because you could make some bullshit save that was almost guaranteed is not fun.
>you could make some bullshit
couldn't*
Also in DnD the dungeon master is in charge of the game events and it is expected of him to temper dice rolls with common sense.
The dice are not king in DnD.
Why the hell would you even reload? May as well be cheating at this point. Max out all your attributes and you'll never see yourself fail. There, that sounds like a nice, stress-free experience™.
Be better next time then and maybe you'll not fail the roll.

literally unplayable
We tend to focus on the shit we didn't get while taking the rest for granted. It's normal.
This obviously doesn't refer to vidya cheating at RNG, some probably do.
>allocate your attributes better >get better gear >get better skills >make better choices
There, literally a skill issue.
You're like a little babby gaymer who got bodied and then proceedes to cry about MUH RNG instead of getting better at the game.
Little b***hes like you are the reason every AAA game now needs to be a CASUAL 3RD PERSON ACTION ADVENTURE OPEN WORLD GAME WITH LIGHT RPG ELEMENTS AND 10 DIFFICULTY OPTIONS.
It's also a VIDEO GAME, it absolutely should forego somd DnD mechanics for the sake of actual fun. Reloading the game because you could make some bullshit save that was almost guaranteed is not fun.
Use t he weighted die option aka the cheat option. That said, Larian has already shown in the 70% of act 1 they have done that failing isn't the end all be all. There is plenty of funny scenes and opportunities from failing a check.
I think Wrath is going to be a hard act to follow, the build variety alone is staggering and the mythic paths offered some of the most choice and consequence I've ever seen in a CRPG. Also that game was announced, crowd funded, developed, released, got several expansions, and got an enhanced edition in the time this game from from pre-alpha v0.00.01a to alpha v0.00.01b.
they'll be fine
i got more reactivity being a druid for ten minutes in their EA vs the entirety of wrath
plus, i can just kill off characters i don't like on sight instead of waiting for a narrative setup 80 hours in
I won't play because the story just looks too terrible. I never expect good writing from larian but bg3 just looks beyond terrible. The only way I can see playing it is if it gets skyrim-tier mod support.
I like Larian, and I loved Divinity 2 but they can't do cities. Arx is tiny in relation to a city like Baldur's Gate, there's no way they will be able to do a 1:1 scale right? If they somehow pull it off I'll be surprised, but I'm fairly certain the entirety of Act 3 is in Baldurs Gate right?
Me and my brother will probably play it when it actually releases. How are the party members anyway? When we played Divinity we played as Red Prince and Fane respectively, he took the elf and I took Ifan.
>How are the party members anyway?
There's no way to play them as an "origin" story yet, but from interactions etc you get Shadowheart's background seems to be heavily involved with the main story. Wyll would probably be an interesting choice as a main character too because of the connection with his cambion Mizora.
>Human >Human with pointy ears >Human with pointy ears and grey skin >Human with pointy ears and mutt >Human but manlet and brawny >Human but midget and pointy ears >Human but midget and overly large head >Human but green, pointy ears and no nose >Human but red skin, horns and tail
Which is more fun, being a druid or barbarian? I think I saw a trailer where a barbarians entire game plan is picking up random shit and throwing it at the enemy?
theres a bunch and you can only level to 4 atm, druids can shape into dragons high level
also there are secret shapes you can get by making story choices (or just the 1 so far, idk)
I know the original model was only ever a placeholder (though apparently some illiterate dipshits whining on the steam forums didn’t grasp that a tiefling known for having one horns having a model with two might not stay) but goddamn if it isn’t the best improvement I’ve ever seen
When is the full release?
I'm holding off on the early access to get the full experience when it launches. But the game still appears to be a ways off from being finished.
I was hyped for it until i realised 1. it's only turnbased, but since it's larian i can live with that. 2. the PC has no voicelines at all for anything. saw some gameplay where the player clicked "laugh". and the PC just does a laugh emote. pretty lame. unless that's subject to change
iirc they found it weird that your own PC was narrating the story. I know there are still like 3 occurences in the game where your PC still talk that they haven't purged yet.
have you seen the dialogue scenes at all? everybody is chatting away and gesturing along while the mc is jarringly mute. they commited to that pointless mocapped characters bullshit nobody asked for instead of staying isometric so they can at least go all the way
Voiced protagonists are RPG AIDS.
It vastly inflates the budget for minimal gain, especially when offset by the inevitable dumbing down of the lines to save money.
Mass Effect being reduced to up right/down is a prime example of why it’s a terrible idea, not even getting into shit like Fallout or DA2
its not rreal time with pause, its ui is ugly and nauseating, and you cant multiclass or do class autism. also the constant skill checks are gay and make you savescum constantly. and the companions are all annoying. other than that its pretty good and ill probably play through it fully once its out
it has been what? 3-4 years in development?
And this entire time players only saw act 1?
Its gonna be frontloaded AS FRICK
Expect an abysmal drop in quality after act 1 when the game eventually releases in 2 more years
Every random review and recommendation I've seen says, "It's good, but wait until it's finished."
It's never going to be finished, it's the new Star Citizen of CRPGs.
they are adding classes at a decent clip from what i understand once the 5e classes are done then they move on to full story mode focus which they are already developing.
They already confirmed next year. Are you one of those morons that think the EA is an indication of the entire progress of the game?
With the next panel from hell I wouldn't say a release date/window isn't out of the question for the 2 year anniversary. It was Feb's patch that they said they had a year left, and June's patch when they said everything is going into orange box state aka complete but needs feedback and then polishing like how we had launch UI to now go through like 3 stages.
More than alot of shit like level 5, new areas etc I want the previous classes to be more fleshed out in terms of subclasses and features. GoO basically doesn't exist.

This has to be the most desperate tortanic chasing homosexualry I’ve ever seen.
I might replay Paladin when its released. Wish they'd do level 5 so you can get lvl 3 spells though
xenomorph teeth

Things can absolutely change but Larian claims they are aiming for a 2023 release. But no specific date out of the year as of now.

a nice dating sim
There's only one person worth romancing. Maybe will or gayle I guess if you want to play as a girl
Would pump her full of babies as a dragonborn paladin ngl
Begone scaley
Does this game have dragonborn as a playable race? I thought it was all humanoids and tieflings
They are not in the early access as of now but through datamining there have been some dialogue and character models found. Another race that has also not yet been implemented is the half-orc.
Neat.
Give us a orc gal, dragonborn girl and gobby girl to bang, and I'll buy 4 copies of the game.
Dragonborn is humanoid
It seems that Shadowheart is the one character that game seems to follow heavily at least from what we can see in act 1. correct but also they tend to iron games out few years later after full release, which at least somehow redeems them as devs.

More like
>be better at mitigating rng
>XCOM flashback
>90% hit chance
>3 consecutive misses
XCOM is notorious for that though.
>Win crappy rolls numerous times
hehe what a fun game
>Miss a couple of close shots
literally unplayable
We tend to focus on the shit we didn't get while taking the rest for granted. It's normal.
This obviously doesn't refer to vidya cheating at RNG, some probably do.
>allocate your attributes better
>get better gear
>get better skills
>make better choices
There, literally a skill issue.
You're like a little babby gaymer who got bodied and then proceedes to cry about MUH RNG instead of getting better at the game.
Little b***hes like you are the reason every AAA game now needs to be a CASUAL 3RD PERSON ACTION ADVENTURE OPEN WORLD GAME WITH LIGHT RPG ELEMENTS AND 10 DIFFICULTY OPTIONS.
Use t he weighted die option aka the cheat option. That said, Larian has already shown in the 70% of act 1 they have done that failing isn't the end all be all. There is plenty of funny scenes and opportunities from failing a check.
DnD inspired games are trash.
Why the frick do helmets not do anything if not enchanted?
Why does increasing a stat to a odd number not do shit?
I love the careful attention to detail.
>play as a drow
>get to goblin fort
>they see you’re a drow and instantly start sucking your dick
Yeah, it’s awesome.
Bonus points of you're Loth-Sworn. You can bully male drows.
I think Wrath is going to be a hard act to follow, the build variety alone is staggering and the mythic paths offered some of the most choice and consequence I've ever seen in a CRPG. Also that game was announced, crowd funded, developed, released, got several expansions, and got an enhanced edition in the time this game from from pre-alpha v0.00.01a to alpha v0.00.01b.
shut up, 5e is all the class variety we need
My spellcasters will cast 1 spell per battle then switch to a crossbow the way its meant to be played
they'll be fine
i got more reactivity being a druid for ten minutes in their EA vs the entirety of wrath
plus, i can just kill off characters i don't like on sight instead of waiting for a narrative setup 80 hours in
I hope we get kobolds as a playable race, I want to play as a kobold bard.
There are no good kobold games.
Literally worse than Kender
Not possible sorry
*unzips firbolgs*
What now?
>There are no good kobold games.
Two decades later and we're still stuck with NWN pws.
Meh because 5e is a garbage system for a video game.
I won't play because the story just looks too terrible. I never expect good writing from larian but bg3 just looks beyond terrible. The only way I can see playing it is if it gets skyrim-tier mod support.
What's wrong with the story? I didn't get far because playing an unfinished product is pointless.
Wat. The story is fine.
>Human
>Human with pointy ears
>Human with pointy ears and grey skin
>Human with pointy ears and mutt
>Human but manlet and brawny
>Human but midget and pointy ears
>Human but midget and overly large head
>Human but green, pointy ears and no nose
>Human but red skin, horns and tail
Correct. Furries and scalies get the rope.
>human (bear)
You just described all the races of any fantasy game, yes.
Why are there no interesting races? It's almost always Human but a few details changed.
Convergent Evolution my Black person. It's more realistic if all intelligent creatures are humanoid.
still only level 4 and act 1?
Which is more fun, being a druid or barbarian? I think I saw a trailer where a barbarians entire game plan is picking up random shit and throwing it at the enemy?
bear ladder climbing animations
Are bears pitbulls of Baldur's Gate?
owlbears sure are
What other forms can you go, or is it just bear for now?
Giant spider, wolf, cat, giant badger, raven, and for Circle of the Moon druids you also get Deep Rothe (yak-like thing) and a polar bear.
theres a bunch and you can only level to 4 atm, druids can shape into dragons high level
also there are secret shapes you can get by making story choices (or just the 1 so far, idk)
Please tell me there'lll be a hotter romance option than fricking shadowheart
Shadowheart is cute.
She could be if not for her fricking ponytail
I'm surprised you're more annoyed at the ponytail and not the bangs.
Karlach looks pretty good now
I know the original model was only ever a placeholder (though apparently some illiterate dipshits whining on the steam forums didn’t grasp that a tiefling known for having one horns having a model with two might not stay) but goddamn if it isn’t the best improvement I’ve ever seen
When is the full release?
I'm holding off on the early access to get the full experience when it launches. But the game still appears to be a ways off from being finished.
Probably February-March next year
No paladins yet so it's ass
So have they confirmed frickable gobbo girls or not?
If so, day one purchase.
Is it still only Act 1? I remember pirating the EA some years ago and had fun.
It's just Act 1 and Level 4. This won't change until release, outside of probably a Paladin update or more character creation options/races.
I was hyped for it until i realised 1. it's only turnbased, but since it's larian i can live with that. 2. the PC has no voicelines at all for anything. saw some gameplay where the player clicked "laugh". and the PC just does a laugh emote. pretty lame. unless that's subject to change
PC used to have a voice but people were heavily against it. Here is the left over :
sad. why were people against it?
iirc they found it weird that your own PC was narrating the story. I know there are still like 3 occurences in the game where your PC still talk that they haven't purged yet.
alright fair. thanks man
>it's only turnbased
>the PC has no voicelines
I HATE ZOOMERS
I HATE ZOOMERS
I HATE ZOOMERS
I HATE ZOOMERS
I HATE ZOOMERS
yes, and? I'm still gonna play it
have you seen the dialogue scenes at all? everybody is chatting away and gesturing along while the mc is jarringly mute. they commited to that pointless mocapped characters bullshit nobody asked for instead of staying isometric so they can at least go all the way
>they can at least go all the way
Having a voiced PC harms role playing. "Going all the way" is a massive step down.
It was the same in DAO and that wasn't a problem at all.
the one thing their improved in the sequels
Voiced protagonists are RPG AIDS.
It vastly inflates the budget for minimal gain, especially when offset by the inevitable dumbing down of the lines to save money.
Mass Effect being reduced to up right/down is a prime example of why it’s a terrible idea, not even getting into shit like Fallout or DA2
On the other hand, I can't imagine Deus Ex being nearly as memorable with a mute JC Denton.
So you can totally get away with it as long as you also make one of the greatest games of all time.
>hates zoomers
>spams trollface revivalist I HATE ___ meme
work on your self awareness, bud.
I can't wait to frick around with high end encounters with the Spectator in a bottle.
Test
its not rreal time with pause, its ui is ugly and nauseating, and you cant multiclass or do class autism. also the constant skill checks are gay and make you savescum constantly. and the companions are all annoying. other than that its pretty good and ill probably play through it fully once its out
5E doesn't really lend itself well to class autism anyway
isn't multiclassing going to be in, it's just not implemented yet? I wanted to run Fighter/Cleric like I did in BG1 and 2.
it has been what? 3-4 years in development?
And this entire time players only saw act 1?
Its gonna be frontloaded AS FRICK
Expect an abysmal drop in quality after act 1 when the game eventually releases in 2 more years
>turn based 4+ party member rpg
who the frick has patience for that
Me, homie
Did they finally release Bard?
yes
