I will not play utawarerumono because it is boring
I will not play saya no uta because I already know the plot
I will not play subahibi because it is pretentious
I don't even remember what that bottom-left one is
I will not play tsukihime because the remake is coming out no matter how you cope

It's mind boggling that Uchikoshi could make 5 masterpieces in a row with Ever17 - Never7 - Remember 11 - I/O - 999 and then frick up horribly with the rest of the Zero Escape series

His entire work history is a strange bell curve slope. Never7 was bad, Ever17 was fairly good, Remember11 was incredible but not something he was the main writer for, 999 was incredible, VLR was pretty good, ZTD was a disaster, Punchline was a disaster, AI 1 was okay, World's End Club was a disaster, AI 2 was a disaster. He somehow got it in his head at some point that he needed to write a lot of humor that did not fit with the rest of the game and gave up on making original plots.

        Never7 was better than Ever17

R11 - Main Scenario by: Takumi Nakazawa / Director: Takumi Nakazawa
I/O - Main Scenario by: Takumi Nakazawa / Director: Takumi Nakazawa
Never7 - Main Scenario - Kotaru Uchikoshi / Yuka Cure Route - Takumi Nakazawa
      Ever17 - Main Scenaro - Kotaru Uchikoshi / Director - Takumi Nakazawa

The best games (I/O and R11) were both written by Nakazawa

Wait a minute, the guy who made 999, it's awful sequel and the sequel's sequel, also wrote those games you mentioned?

He didn't write I/O, that guy is wrong, but he did N7/E17/R11 (helper)/999/VLR/ZTD/AI/AI2/Punchline/WEC/12riven (not translated but supposedly alright sorta)

Thank you so much for this. Since I usually avoid looking too deep into VN to avoid spoilers, I wasn't aware of some of the games sharing the same writer. To think I had these games on my backlog.

The first two Infinity games were written by Uchikoshi and directed by Nakazawa, the third and most acclaimed of the series was Remember 11. Which he had nothing to do with, his assistant Nakazawa made that game and later went onto create probably their second best game I/O. Both of these games have never been officially released in the west to date. Uchikoshi wrote and directed the entire Virtue's Last Reward trilogy, which peaked at the first entry and nosedived off a cliff.

So the constant factor is that it was actually Nakazawa not Uchikoshi that was the mastermind behind all of those games.

I see, will avoid the games like a plague regardless.
