How much longer until all of you retards agree this game was better and more fun to play than ultimate? Bonus points if you do not bring up brawl or melee or 64

Nah. Now, if you said Super Smash Bros. for 3DS, you might have a point.
Yes, Smash Run was cool but you fags are blinded by nostalgia.
I already agree
I miss her, bros...
holy fuck i unironically used to jerk off to these when i was a wee lad lmao nostalgia
He did nudes, you know.
Easily the worst Smash entry.
Forgot pic
Smash Wii U has nothing over Ultimate besides trophies. Pure beta test.
Smash 4 also had better graphics, master orders, crazy orders, a stage creator on launch, home run contest on launch, an actual significant amount of newcomers on launch, an actual significant amount of new stages on launch, custom moves, masterpieces, a proper all star mode, events instead of its neutered replacement, and less input delay, so there’s also that.
>better graphics
True, also better art style because smaller roster with less realistic characters
>master orders, crazy orders
Literally who touched this shit besides custom moves
>a stage creator on launch, home run contest on launch
True
>actual significant amount of newcomers on launch
Fair, although Ultimate's base newcomers kicked the shit outta Wii U
>actual significant amount of new stages on launch
This is the only actual meaningful one, Ultimate's extras went to shit with the roster focus, but you also got some absolute steamers like Pac-Land
>custom moves
The biggest blue ball of all time unless you were MM, Palutena, or Mii Fighters. 70% of the upgrades fit into base/bigger effect but weaker/smaller effect but stronger. Holy fuck what wasted potential and a major selling point of 3DS/Wii U
>masterpieces
Lol
>a proper all star mode
No one wants to play 80-man ASM
>events
Haven't been good since Melee
>less input delay
This is good and it's still too much. God this series has been a slog to play for 20 years
Overall I agree with your assessment that selling everything for the roster significantly cheapens the overall experience, but Wii U was an execution flop. Also Smash Tour lol
Ultimate’s input delay is legit too much even for a noncomp fag like myself. It always feels off when I play the game. I honestly think the speed increase only makes things worse with how none of these fast movements always seem to be a bit later then I’d expect them to be, like I’m guiding the character around instead of directing controlling them. I prefer slower gameplay with less input delay over faster gameplay with more input delay since it feels like I have more control. Speed is great but input timing just comes first and foremost in my opinion. This problem only gets worse with the online. I swear this is worse than wii u’s in every way, from the execution to the actual connection. Playing a game with dogshit input delay online with no form of rollback is complete crap.
I'll level: Smash Wii U is the last Smash I ever bought. Played Ultimate a bit and it's fine, but as you mention, just feels like a chore to play. I sure do hate how the development post-Melee got wrapped up in this false equivalency of technique and game speed with skill ceiling. No one in Smash 4 is fun to play bar insane trap characters like MM and Pac-Man.
The whole chore aspect is also reflected in ultimate’s unlock system. I know people complained about 4’s unlock system but I feel like all ultimate did to try and improve on it was force you to do what you were already doing in 4 but longer. If each character had their own objective like in melee, I wouldn’t mind needing to unlock the majority of the roster but as it is, it feels like the only challenge I’m completing is how long I can play the damn game. If you’re gonna have a shitty repetitive unlock system, at least make it be quick, not like 7 hours.
The truth is if 4 or Ult felt like Melee or 64 no one would care about the grind. The series has lost its focus. Sad, actually.
>The biggest blue ball of all time unless you were MM, Palutena, or Mii Fighters.
I really liked Ice Luigi, Charizard's alt side-Bs, Pacman's On-Fire Hydrant/alternate bonus fruit, Ice Breath Kirby, Ness with Lucas's specials, and overpowered Donkey Kong up special.
I loved Kirby’s jumping inhale, personally. I feel like I got more use out of the specials in 3ds because of smash run, though
not to mention smash 4 had perfect pivoting and other cool techniques that differentiates the pros from the noobs
ultimate has nothing and it gets boring
What about slingshotting or did that die out?
idk, i just grew up out of smash im not going to lie, im an adult with more adult stuff to do so i dont have time to learn sweaty gaming technics, i now use cheats
It's so fucking slow, though.
nothing stopping you from going back and playing it bud, not sure why you need our validation
Patch 0 of Ultimate was the funniest way to play. It was like Melee on steroids.
Yeah I felt this way a year or so into playing ultimate.
I hate that they removed so much tech in ult. I hate that jabs got homogenized. I hate that the new buffer system led to some very stupid changes like auto shorthop and just this shittyness of the controls. I hate that footstools became techable, I hate that platfalls became techable. I hate that jump cancels were removed. I hate that shield dropping was removed, in the game it would've been the easiest to do.
I hate that anything remotely technical became simple. God forbid the game has complex mechanics with real depth.
>can act out of dash startup and shieldgrabs have been nerfed
Ultimate is better.
It had better movement but that's it. It was so shit it caused Melee to peak in popularity like a year after its release. You never saw that kind of surge with ultimate, even with the advent of slippi.
smash run would've been kino is
>you could fight each other on the map
>the finale was more than a single, random, usually bullshit event
Modes are better by default because it actually had any.
smash 4 is the worst smash aside from 64 (but 64 was literally something they shat out expecting it to fail on a console that was dogshit so i'll give it a pass)
classic mode is garbage, master/crazy orders is pointless, the menu layout and navigation is shit.
custom moves literally didn't do anything escept slightly change moves in the same format
also stages, some good, most shit
also smash tour but that needs zero explanation
I don't own a Wii U so never.
I agree. 8-player Smash was awesome when you got your elementary school gang together, hooked up your 3DSes to the Wii U, and threw in some amiibos for the hell of it.
Also the amiibos were cool as hell conceptually. Still have my Samus and Mario amiibos, and even kept the receipt for my Samus amiibo when I bought it at Wal-Mart with my own cash. Still find it odd that the black ring around the Smash medallion around my Samus amiibo is smooth yet my Mario amiibo has more of a matte finish on the black ring.
Ult has Ridley so it's superior.
