>Improved side quests, which help flesh out the world >Improved challenge in several boss fights, including one of the hardest in a Pokemon game >Improved characterization for Hau, who desperately needed it
All you really lost out on is Lillie's story, and if you didn't like it in the first place USUM is just objectively better.
Harder than anything else in the series at least >but Zoroark!
Maybe 5 pokemon out of the 400 in the game directly counter that 1 boss. Otherwise, it's tough.
>Maybe 5 pokemon out of the 400 in the game directly counter that 1 boss.
that's the problem. it's not a well designed fight, it's a huge difficulty spike that can be and often is cheesed.
>it's not a well designed fight, it's a huge difficulty spike that can be and often is cheesed.
nta but I lost a grand total of once before I just ended up coming back, swapping the order of my mons, and beating it. "Huge difficulty spike" my ass, it's only cheesed when the retard playing can't strategize worth shit so they look up the first strat they see and then copy it verbatim.
The fact that I actually ended up losing once already puts it in the upper echelon of story fights in this piss easy series.
If you need specific pokemon and cheese strategies to beat something instead of just using your normal team, it's fucking difficult you fucking retard.
I just oneshot it with my Incineroar
I didn't even know it was supposed to be "challenging" until I saw retards here and elsewhere saying it was the hardest thing ever and how they couldn't git gud or whatever
>if you fight red at level 50-55 like you're supposed to instead of grinding for hours like a sperg
So if you look it up online and see six level 80+ Pokemon and figure you better go grind, you're a sperg. But if you challenge him at level 50-55, get your ass beat because he has all level 80+ Pokemon, and then go grind so you can beat him, you're not?
>So if you look it up online and see six level 80+ Pokemon and figure you better go grind, you're a sperg.
it's a JRPG and you can trivialize anything by endlessly grinding
like, a level 60 ultra necrozma with +1 everything has the exact same stats as a level 92 ultra necrozma. better grind to level 90 in usum >get your ass beat because he has all level 80+ Pokemon,
or win by using status moves and type advantages instead of spamming stab 6 times like a retard. mandatory exp share has rotted your brain
>switch in a rock or water type >survive blast burn >charizard can't move >hit it with a rock or water move, or use a setup move
like you can literally beat him with a team of freshly-caught pokemon and use graveler for charizard. holy shit why do I have to teach you how to play pokemon
My level 52 Gyarados Thunder Waves it on the recharge turn and then sets up Dragon Dance. On another playthrough my Onix set up Stealth Rocks on Pikachu and Charizard ACKed itself as soon as it came in.
USUM's objectively, undeniably better than the original games >durr they neutered the story
SM's was nothing special, play a real RPG if you want good writing. USUM are based and storyfags need the rope
This would be an excellent point if the game wasn't literally 70% story. I WANT to just ignore it and claim it doesn't matter, but the game clearly doesn't agree with that.
If the majority of your game is just dialogue and cutscenes then the dialogue and cutscenes had better be good. Making them worse makes the game worse.
>those digits
Checked. And I guess that's fair, but I've conditioned myself to just mash A anytime one of the main characters shows up
USUM would be better if you could just skip all the cutscenes, but you can’t, so you have no choice but to focus on the neutered plot it has, where Lusamine is still an abusive bitch who Lillie doesn’t stand up to and Anabel is just there in Alola in amnesia with no explanation given.
>USUM would be better if you could just skip all the cutscenes
this would've been VERY fucking nice. Seven years later and we still don't have this
>70% story
i honestly can't agree with this
i feel like you would have to intentionally skip as many NPC trainers and avoiding catching as many pokemon as possible in order for this to be to be true. not to mention USUM was the last game that had a decent selection of battle facilities and also the last game that had explorable maps in the post game (second half of Poni Island)
seriously guys, do you even have to think and make strategies to beat red or ultra necrozma?
wtf i was a kid when i beat red (i didn't grind shit because i was clueless, never thought i could battle red) just using SE moves, as an adult i just use toxic and stall with all my mons
i mean i didn't have to do any overthinking or planning with UN, first time used Slowbro with Toxic and Protect, then Incineroar used Malicious Moonsault, survived Power Gem and Darkest Lariat, then UN is kill

I mean did they really? The games were great besides ruining best mom

lmao
I just oneshot it with my Incineroar
I didn't even know it was supposed to be "challenging" until I saw retards here and elsewhere saying it was the hardest thing ever and how they couldn't git gud or whatever
The whole plot with Lusamine is worse
SPBP
don't forget Mantine Surf is fun and RR is a better post game episode
>Its literally the exact same
if you fight red at level 50-55 like you're supposed to instead of grinding for hours like a sperg his team is basically just 6 ultra necrozmas
