there are maybe 3 interesting str/int weapons i can think of, but the int scaling dosent seem very good on them. may as well just do a str build, or just get the minimum int for said weapons. also there was a lot of whining about str builds being shit in er, but thats just not true.

I just went with 2Hing greatsword or bigger greatsword and you can out-unga any bosses that aren't a duo really easily
I only started pumping Faith really late game to fuck around with the dragon breath spells

Except Maleketh, fucking piece of shit rune-of-death wielding werewolf motherfucker. Only boss I can't out-unga by chaining lion's claw into lion's claw with Guts' greatsword.

Eh he had like no HP. I didn't get to hit him consistently enough for a stagger like most bosses but sprinting in for a jumping R2 still kills his ass fast enough.

He has this thing where his dumb dog pose gives him massive frontal range with his sword in exchange for a massive blindspot directly under him. Doesn't work on phase 1 though, since he has that backstepping attack probably for that exact reason.

At release they were just super out performed by other options that just didn't have any of the negatives associated with the bigger weapons, they were still perfectly viable, just made encounters more difficult. They have received buffs across the board basically every patch since to make them comparable to other options.

when did you start playing they've buffed everything str related like 3 times now.
and it wasn't that it was unplayable or something it's just that it got utterly mogged by dex builds, bleed builds, and magic builds

The real punch of Str/Int is with spell-based Ashes of War. Sure, your greataxe is cool as hell, but did you know Glintstone Phalanx instantly posture breaks most enemies in the game with one or two activations? It's sick. Even just one followed by melee attacks will make them vulnerable. It's super easy. You could do that without having Int, but damage is damage.

      Yeah, for sure.
I went with mace + greatshield and eventually upgraded to the ''Hammer''
it carried me 100% of the game, for Malenia I did use the serpent greatspear, though.

They're actually pretty good now that they've been buffed but fast weapons are still objectively better but it literally doesn't matter because PVP is trash and you can beat PVE with anything.

very good and fun, the better version of this is the ruins greatsword though. Also, blaidd's blade is int/str and is pretty busted, so is the darkmoon greatsword. INT/STR is very solid, I'd put points in STR and the minimum required for the weapons in INT though.

Enemies don't dodge night comet/night shard.
Alternatively carian slicer could probably do the job pretty well.

I don't use summon ashes. do I just stay the fuck away from her until her phase 2 starts? Which staff is best for Night Comet?

          Anonymous

The phase change is not going to make her easier. Staff of Loss might give bonuses but you should be using your best int staff to cast anyways.

Staff of Loss offhand/your best staff mainhand. You get that +30% damage bonus even if you cast from main staff. Best staff for general use is Rennala's scepter.

not sure what staff to use. I use the Meteorite, Staff of Loss and then that staff that needs super high INT but takes a ton of FP

          Anonymous

Meteorite is a mid game only staff, since you can't upgrade it. Stick to Rennala's or Lusat's.

Casting tools have a convenient value that tells you how strong they are. Ignoring the FP gimmick one it's probably the carian regal scepter. You should have figured this out this far into the game.

Light roll is honestly cheese tier now

New light roll is pretty fucking nuts, but I like that going light equip load is actually a viable option now at least. There was almost no benefit to going light equip load before the buff, which was fucked considering how much investment is required to have light equip load if you want to use anything but one of the lightest possible weapons with the lightest possible armor set.

                Anonymous

Light load needed a buff, but the new light rolls go so far that it actually looks kind of silly. I think they should have slightly increased the sprint speed for light load instead.

As someone who rolled magic on my first build it's not worth it. I stopped using magic about halfway through the run and just resorted to using weapons. Literally the only reason to increase any of your magic stats is if there's a weapon that scales off of it.

I'm doing an arcane build without any spellcasting, for now I'm pumping with an occult Vulgar Militia Saw but on mobs that cannot be bled the damage is a bit lacking
what weapon that has good ARC scaling can I use for those cases?

      Anonymous

The greatsword gets a B in arcane if you go occult IIRC.
Any enemy you can't bleed you can probably endure + charged R2 twice to break their posture.
Endure was buffed and lasts longer now.

If you're a faith user it's extremely useful because it protects you for the whole Dragon breath duration for example
