I wish that wasn't true, but it is. Some of the legacy dungeons in Elden Ring match the feel of DS1 at certain points, but those points are drawn thin across the open world/copy-paste thing. Those moments in ER where you went subterranean but actually ended up not having to return to the entrance of the dungeon were great. like the Siofra well, or the dungeon in Caeild that spat you out back in Leyndell. The dungeons should have been more based around alternate ways to traverse the overworld, instead of 99% dead end boss encounters. Imagine for example if one of the beginner dungeons in the starting area, instead of sending you back to the overworld after beating a miniboss, had an option to continue underground and face tougher mobs/boss and ended up being an alternate entrance into the first castle. The underground should have been a honeycomb of trails, not a bunch of dead ends. major wasted opportunity

This sort of things was what I was expecting from this game being bigger. It's really disappointing.
The entire underground it's the most undeveloped concept in this game.

also, like the dungeon that took you through the mine, and then you climbed the mountain, fought the harpies, and then it dropped you on the Altus Plateau after the boss was a really nice touch. There should have been way more dungeons like that

    with DLC
but I'm assuming their next rpg action game will be more story driven like sekiro instead of open world and it will be a nice change.

Funny you think Bandi is going to lock them in and milk Elden ring dry with 10 more games

It was already topped by all their other games in the genre with the exception of DSII.

It seems to be the pinnacle of what they can do as a studio.
It combined every best element of the previous game and went above and beyond. They even met the insane expectations the hype garnered (which is why Ganker of course seethes endlessly and is the only place to do so).
I doubt they'll try to "top it" in light of this, but will go a different direction or new types of games from now on.

      So much nonsense
Game is a jack of all trades master of none

        No, it's all true.
Dark souls was also a "master of none". It just happened to be a game people liked because it was difficult and marketed well despite being outperformed by other games with respect to its mechanics.

Can't recall a single Elden Mid moment that felt climactic. Bosses, atmosphere, OST, areas, Lore were all mid as frick and balancing was non existant. It's not gonna have a lasting legacy unless they invest in better pvp infrastructure and turn it into a fashion souls fight club.

Completely agree. There's nothing memorable or remarkable. The only song that I still listen from ER is Godfrey's theme. I don't know why everyone likes so much the main theme, is pretty generic. Godskin theme was good but I grew tired of it really fast.
