      10/10 gameplay-wise.
Like says, it's the last SF game.

      Better than 3, frick threegays.

Disagree. 3 is a bit better.

      3/10
Focus ruined neutral, Ultras are still the worst comeback mechanic in Street Fighter history, delayed get-up was an awful attempt at fixing the Arcsys-tier vortex monster that they created by giving every character hard knockdowns out the ass, Yun existed, Seth existed, Elena existed, online was unplayable, worst newcomers to date (fricking DECAPRE lmao). Game was 100% carried by the relatively exciting early Twitch era of tournaments.

Pro player opinions don't mean shit.
These are people who play PROFESSIONALLY. It's their JOB.
The kinds of changes they want to see in games are ones that make the outcome more predictable, since their livelihoods depend on it.
      Predictable = not fun.

Comeback mechanics (in the case of FGs like SF4) are hated by pro players, even though they make the game more fun to play and watch because you never know who'll win at any moment.
      They wanna make their buck.

They make the game WAY less fun to play for your average person because they can get punished for doing good in early to mid of the round. The only crowd that comeback mechanics cater to is hype beast morons who exclusively watch on Twitch and don't actually know the game/genre well enough to understand that the other player did nothing impressive to "comeback" as the game in it's very design facilitated it.
Comeback mechanics in fighters are an absolute fricking plague.

focus attack dogshit that is almost as bad as turd strike parries
hurtboxes based on character animation pretty dogshit but also a bit hilarious, allowed for some very specific character combos youll only see on some stupid homosexual's TAS combo video

Introduction of the gayest form of comeback mechanic ever concieved, taking damage = powered up moves or states.
absolutely fricked the future of SF with this shit and the future of most fighting games.

An absolutely incredible game. Incredible variety in playstyles and characters, a fun system that pushes offense without needing to nerf defensive options. Easily the most hype tournaments to watch of any fighting game, basically every character had at least one well known specialist playing them and doing well in tournaments. Some of the most hype sets of any street fighter game. Fixing the input buffer and giving it rollback would save this game but sadly it's not going to happen.

The first SFIV was the last time me and my bros really gamed down hard to beat everything and unlock all the characters. I fricking remember to unlock the last character you needed to beat arcade on hard with three super wins three ultra wins and two perfects, and I got a super perfect finish on the LAST Seth round to get it. Its was based as frick, hell my buddy was also a bit of a dick and there was a WHOLE NIGHT he stun locked us with well time heavy jump kicks and heavy low kicks as Ken, I was the only one that was able to get a win on him at the end. God damn sometimes I just want one more bro down, but kids and distance are what make the days today

While I over all enjoyed SF4, I HATED the Ultra meter being just a comeback meter, it also being separate from the EX/Super meter, introducing cinematic supers, the general ugliness and stiffness to the art, and the mostly mediocre music.
I just can't get in to SFV/VI. If I'm going to play a SF-esk fighter, its KoF anymore at this point. But no one plays KoF....

The last good Street Fighter game. The tournaments like EVO were so much more hype than SFV and SFVI. That shit is boring as frick compared to SFIV.

I don't like it very much, but at least it is a Street Fighter game.

SFV and SF6 are not really Street Fighter games. They are good fighting games, but not good SF games.

One of the core aspects of the SF style of fighting is being able to react/read an incoming attack and respond with an invincible special or super move. In SFV and 6 this is very nerfed and if you try to an incoming attack with your own special attack it's very likely that your attack will get stuffed. The way the frame data and shape of the hit boxes are designed in these games ensures it, and of course many moves simply lack the invincibility frames that defined SF games from SF2 through CVS2. In SFV even EX specials will occasionally get stuffed by a normal. This is slightly reduced in SF6 but it's still not where it should be.

Then you add the stubby normals of SFV that again changes the fundamental traditional ranges of SF gameplay. This is also slightly better in SF6, but then SF6 nerfs neutral by the addition of the Drive Rush. Before SF6 was released the Custom Combo mechanic was widely criticized by the modern day FGC and was something we hoped not to see return due to it being "un-SF" and broken.
So what does Capcom do? Make a new version of it the defining main feature of the game!

Maybe one day an indie developer will finally make another Street Fighter style game instead of the same-old GG-clones they've been making for nearly 20 years now.

Sometimes I wonder if maybe people are right and that the big fighting games are becoming too homogenized. As if the companies are listening to the audience too much, not in terms of ease of play only but also in terms of what should or shouldn't be allowed in a fighting game. They're expected to be flashy and exciting, but in an accessible way. I don't know, maybe I'm just rambling, because the games do have differences yet still feel too similar in terms of how they want to be designed, if that makes sense. There's too much of a ruleset and a structure that's expected to be followed to make a good fighter.

The bones are there but it really started to show its weaknesses the longer people played it.

Revenge gauge / Ultra moves were the dumbest fricking shit and a perfect encapsulation of the PS3/360 era "everything must have a super cinematic move you can do even if you're losing"

Needlessly high execution barrier for FADC which ended up being a more important mechanic than was intended.

Not enough wakeup options which means the game essentially had its oki get solved and the game became very vortex heavy, USF4's band-aid to this issue did nothing to fix it.
