Voice acting in Japan is arguably a pretty prestigious occupation with a long history full of excellence. Video games and anime being widespread and respected for a long time (vs the west where games and cartoons were laughed off as children’s stuff for a long time) is probably the main reason why. But either way seiyuus in Japan work very hard for a long time for their craft
In comparison, most western voice actors are just failed actors or stage actors making a quick buck. The quality is notably worse with tons of overacting and goofy line delivery. It’s changing slowly sure but for the most part that’s still the truth.
This only applies to weebshit though where they hire bottom-of-the-barrel talent for most things. Plenty of actual great dubs exist in vidya, like rockstar games.
