Yes, I will use savestates to beat your game.

I often savestate when it will save me the time i would have to repeat a mindless cycle of actions without any stakes at all. People that use them to overcome boss fights or other hard game content are complete b***hes though.

I unironically don't see anything wrong with this.
Video games are meant to be fun. Save states help to remove tedium from a game that can ruin the experience for you, and let you actually enjoy the game.

Look at how pathetic this is. Me, as a 8 year old kid, just did the stage again. These 20-something zoomers think this is okay?

    Patience is a skill.
If you use save states because you are impatient then you failed at beating the game.

If you dislike a game which challenges your patience with mechanics such as grinding, then maybe play a different game you personally enjoy in its entirety. You're a narcissistic homosexual.

Yes, unironically. If you like [game] then you HAVE to like replaying the same level in [game] over and over, otherwise you do not actually like the game. You don't have to play this game by all means. Just play something else.

People use steroids often as a shortcut to save time in building muscles. However steroids are pretty unhealthy. Just because something can be used to save time, doesn't mean it should.
Similarly, using time savers reduces the patience threshold of someone and usually reaches a point where they do not play games that challenges their patience even a little bit because they are so used to taking shortcuts.

Again, patience is somewhat of a skill. Play games that does not challenge your patience if you don't like that.

Anon, I found your favorite game on Youtube and watched it and that's basically the same thing as actually playing it. I should decide exactly what's in my gameplay experience at all times and I should never be challenged by anything because I don't feel like it. This is WHO I AM.

The only reason some games don't have quicksaving/quickloading built in by default is either developer incompetence or hardware limitations. On PC it's your right and duty to enable it in games you play. It's no different than changing the resolution or rebinding your keys.

You're proving yet again that the pc was the nest of casuals. There are those things that are called "pacing" and "feel". Hell, how would perma death or rougelikes/lites games work with that mentality. Savescumming encourages sloppy play as seen here

        >There are those things that are called "pacing" and "feel"
Yes and you as a player should be able to define them, not anyone else. Otherwise you might as well be watching a movie.
        >how would perma death or rougelikes/lites games work with that mentality
Your success in a lot of them depends on you working with limited resources the game is giving you on any given run. Saving and loading won't save you from being dealt a bad hand by the game.
        >Savescumming encourages sloppy play
No, being a nintentoddler for life does that.

          >Your success in a lot of them depends on you working with limited resources
And with savestates you can simply bruteforce through those imposed limitations

            Anonymous

If you actually can do this successfully every time then your knowledge of the game most likely surpasses normal play and you have nothing left to prove in terms of skill in that game.

Savestates are peak laziness and peak goy brain behavior. I don't need to actually play this game, I just need to see a credits sequence so I can say I """beat""" it and move on to the next thing I'll barely experience. Maybe watching a movie while you're on your goyphone.

If anything you're showing off some hilarious underageb& casual mentality, either by accident or not, because the concept of "keeping multiple save slots in case the game tries to frick you over" is decades older than the popularity of emulators, and only became not a thing in the late 00s and 10s once devs taking the freedom of saving away from you in favor of autosaving and checkpoints alongside the general widespread reduction of game difficulty became so widespread
Saying "I hope you overwrite your savestate" implies only having one save save which is something no one who had been playing games in the actual "frick you" era of game design would ever even think of saying, way to self-report, neeeeeeeerd

No, I'm saying that not having the burnt-in instincts of knowing that, if you ARE allowed to save a game freely, you should always save it across multiple slots, is casual.

                Anonymous

But you're NOT allowed to save, which is why you're using savestates in the first place instead of actually using the save system in the game like it was designed for. Yep

                Anonymous

Exactly, and you use those save states the way you use saving in old school adventure games or the like, you keep a whole load of them in case you're ever at risk of fricking yourself over by softlocking yourself because of a bad decision you made three hours ago.
