I can't get through first town, it's such a fucking slog, the game is so fucking boring when it comes to narrative.
Moreover my tastes in crpgs aren't even that good. I never had any problems with Divinity, Pathfinder or assorted nostalgia/russian slop like underrail
I completely disagree. PoE is the game that got me into crpgs and I wish more RPGs had a similar writing quality
Damn, does it get better?
You'll get your own upgradable fortress soon and things will open up
The sheer volume of PoE's boring flavor text is nauseating
the stupif fortress is why I dropped it. Didn't want to constantly babysit the fucking thing
I actually liked kingdom management, is it better or worse?
jesus fucking christ... you can't be serious?
Well does it bro?
You are playing an obsidian game and you ask this question. You are beyond salvation, just keep consuming.
no, i don't know wtf he's smoking, if you don't like PoE writing at the start, you will never like it
Writing wise, vanilla PoE is a terrible slog from the beginning to the end, White March is fantastic, Deadfire is much worse than the first game but in a different way.
> Divinity, Pathfinder or assorted nostalgia/russian slop like underrail
zoomer RPG. Good RPG but still zoomer. Try planescape torment then you'll appreciate just how much of a throwback PoE is to the CRPG genre at its peak.
...i liked the start of PoE. the major town can be a bit of a put off, but its nothing like Baldurs Gate 2 where you're just thrown into a major town - theres build up.
The backer bullshit in the first town almost turned me off but it does get better.
oh yeah...thats probably what OP is griping about. he should ignore them. i remember my first playthrough, it caused me to stop completely until i picked it back up a few years later after learning that they are backer npcs.
The combat just isn't fun
Skill issue, PoE has the best combat of any CRPG besides ToEE.
It's just too braidead for me
Then how on earth did you possibly enjoy Pathfinder? Also, play on potd.
It has better leveling system, music, graphics etc etc
I guess the companions and story feel more engaging
It's gutted 3.5e simplified down from even NWN2-level with some of the worst encounter design and monster AI in the genre.
nta but poe encounters are substantially worse. that game has absolutely nothing going for it. it's just obsidian schizos with dunning kruger jerking off over sloppy purple prose arbitrarily describing lamp shades and dirt written by some teen intern.
NTA but that shit made me drop the game at that time. I just couldn't be bothered with it.
There are people that make it their life's work to constantly apologize for this vomit.
Do not play the second game. Consider yourself warned
What? Deadfire is much better than the first game.
Playing PoE2, its pozzed as fuck
I was very disappointed. I think they tried too hard to address complaints from the first game, mainly the one about trash fights, so now it feels like there isn't enough combat.
Filtered and brown. I loved the dialogue and story, the more midwits and shitskins complain about reading the more I enjoy it.
Oh shut up
>playing western and/or crpgs
are you stupid? retarded or just doing dumb shit on purpose as a joke? do you have actual fucking brain damage son?
I hate the stronghold management.
Reminder that Sawyer is a militant leftist from Something Awful that vehemently hates both RPGs and Ganker, and wants CRPGs to be inclusive goyslop VNs.
And yet he made a kino CRPG with the best RTWP combat in the genre? What a god.
Trying too hard.
>hates both RPGs and Ganker
Who doesn't hate this cesspit? Even the people browsing it do.
>Reminder that Sawyer is a militant leftist
If a dev being a leftist being a problem, then I hope you're not playing Pathfinder, Divinity or Disco Elysium. Or hell, BG1-2, since Bioware have always been uber leftists.
>If a dev being a leftist being a problem, then I hope you're not playing Pathfinder, Divinity or Disco Elysium. Or hell, BG1-2, since Bioware have always been uber leftists.
I'm not. 🙂
Good for you
>Who doesn't hate this cesspit?
Me. I unironically love this place.
You have Stockholm Syndrome
I played until like 60hs into the game when takes fucking half a minute to load every time you change scenario (which is constantly). It was fucking unplayable, and the story was boring me to death (even when most say white march pt1 and pt2 are supposedly the best part of the game)
second game was even worse. like 5 hours in I had 4 separate dudes try to suck my cock or fuck my ass. gay as fuck.
Stop flirting with men anon, played through the entire thing and did not experience this once.
I couldn't even finish it. it's not hard it's just boring
you're going to have a tough time beating the secret crystal dragon under your keep if you can't manage your party
sorry op. this game hasn't been out for a while. it's the hardest fight in the game
>has
I am waiting to get close to ending my playtrough to fight it, I will not try to fight the white one because the mission is lackluster.
this is a party management game. it doesn't matter how op your character is.
I know buffing the party is the most important thing so I went cleric, in hindsight maybe bard or something would've been fun
it is boring. try playing temple of elemental evil.
Ignore the gold plated npcs. They're garbage backer rewards.
>nu-rpg people
Divinity isn’t a crpg. People say all the time how they like divinity but dislike other crpgs. Yeah? Because it isn’t one.
anyone play it on Switch? i read reviews saying it's a buggy piece of shit
Who plays crpgs on Switch?
i'd buy WOTR if i didn't already own it on pc
joycons have been great for my carpal tunnel
very bad game yes
I can't really see what people are talking about with this game when it comes to writing. Just kind of feels like it's there, and it does it's job, but I can't really recall any moments that were actually well written as I was reading it and not "looking back, the events of the Godhammer were interesting"
