This is absolutely untrue and makes me think you haven't done PF early and late into a tier
If you have a lot of time to prog and can stay ahead of the pack the week 1/2 groups are filled with much better players than late tier PF. The week 1/2 last turn parties are better than any static I've been in.
Congratulations, OP. You smashed your head against a wall until you received brain damage and what do you have to show for it? What did you gain from doing this?

Nah, I just can't comprehend engaging with this sort of content at all. At least in WoW (at least back in 2006) you could get great gear from raids and shit on other players in pvp. They fucking ruined this for me when they started adding pvp stats and separated gear types so I quit.
Even Guild Wars 2 equalizes gear in battleground/arena. Do you know any other MMO which lets you bring your pve shit to pvp and not get crap on because of dedicated stats? Hell, I'd understand doing savages/ultimates in FF14 if it gave you an edge over other players but it does NOTHING. Those world first guilds are the stupidest shit ever. Imagine engaging in a serious work environment for NO GAIN.
Why would you want PvP to just be a shitfest of raiders dominating and everyone else not getting to have any fun as long as they're around.

>Why would you want PvP to just be a shitfest of raiders dominating
because it would give this "gang up on a brainless AI following a set pattern" mode a purpose
OSRS. Even better, if you bring your expensive PvE shit there and job against a salad robes mage you make someone very happy since they get to loot your gear.
I never understood the mentality of people who thinks like this
Or maybe its just one me. "hehe game fun. i want to play the game more, plays it again of hard"
inb4 his views only comes from afl'ing in limsa next to paypal legends
Raiding in XIV is fun mechanically unlike WoW because in XIV when you wipe you literally just appear back in front of the boss. Theres no way back, no reapplying consumables because they stay active, all your cooldowns are back up, etc. If you wipe you can just try again in 10 seconds if you want.
im an EW babby but genuinely some of the hypest moments I've had in a video game were during some of the mechs in p4s where youre resolving them and managing your rotation while the music hits the chorus
I think my favorite part of DSR is how the mechanics past P2 all integrate with the music, but especially freefall during wyrmhole
this is only half true
it's still not that fun mechanically because once you wipe 6 minutes into a fight you will have to do the exact same 6 minutes over and over again with only the most minor variation until the last retard in the group gets consistent enough to prog 1 mechanic further. then you have to repeat the same 7 minutes over and over
in old WoW you had more tedium before the fight but less tedium within the fight
This is said a lot but I don't really see a lot of randomness in WoW encounters either. A lot of it is on a timer as well, with phases and then the occasional inconsequential ground aoe or debuff that targets a single person, or maybe two.

The randomness in wow comes from who the mechanic targets, and sometimes you might not get targeted at all. It's randomness in what you have to do to finish the fight, yes, but in reality the boss does the same "target 3 people with X mechanic every 15 seconds" thing over and over which is the opposite of randomness. It depends on how you look at it.
Castle Nathria was the wow devs experimenting with making XIV style bossfights in wow and people generally liked the tier despite how unpopular shadowlands was.

Don't plenty of XIV fights have that too. Differences in who gets assigned what mini mechanic, who gets eartshaker, who gets xyz debuff and what the timer for it is? >Castle Nathria was the wow devs experimenting with making XIV style bossfights in wow and people generally liked the tier despite how unpopular shadowlands was.
Wasn't there a fight in the raid tier after? Painsmith something? That people called a XIV-type fight (and that was considered a wall for raiders there)

>Don't plenty of XIV fights have that too. Differences in who gets assigned what mini mechanic, who gets eartshaker, who gets xyz debuff and what the timer for it is?
Yes, but everyone gets targeted with some form of mechanic in XIV so everyone has to move for everything (aside from a few tankbusters). In wow you could just not get a mechanic for an entire fight and just stand still and blast. >Wasn't there a fight in the raid tier after? Painsmith something? That people called a XIV-type fight (and that was considered a wall for raiders there)
Painsmith had a move that resembled a dungeon boss move in XIV but was infinitely more difficult because it had INCREDIBLY shit hitboxes so people got hit despite being way outside of the animation. It was also overtuned as fuck as with most wow mythic bosses because it gives the dev team time to check how much damage the raiders can put out so they can balance the later bosses on the fly. Mid-raid walls are common for that exact reason in wow.

That's true. And then when you do get hit by a mechanic, you shake your fist. >Painsmith had a move that resembled a dungeon boss move in XIV but was infinitely more difficult because it had INCREDIBLY shit hitboxes so people got hit despite being way outside of the animation.
Kind of reminds me of that Halone mechanic, too. >It was also overtuned as fuck as with most wow mythic bosses because it gives the dev team time to check how much damage the raiders can put out so they can balance the later bosses on the fly.

I love Halone's animations, at least. The targeting reticule shit combined with her just sharply turning around and nuking that entire side of the arena with a flurry of spear thrusts. All in time with the music, especially when it's the part that sounds like a military march.

There's no real level of reward that would fit that content sadly, you'd just inflate item levels to fit everything in (or add useless 5 increments to everything). More cosmetics or just another shot at getting the normal mode loot isn't a good solution either because it's either coming at the cost of craftables or isn't worth the effort.

XIV is much more mechanically complex and specific than old WoW, so you wipe much more.
as said before the preparation for a WoW raid was much higher in every aspect for many reasons so the attempts were lower. sometimes you would spend 30 mins just talking about what to do in the next attempt instead of chain pulling and wasting time running back etc. its difficult to even compare the 2. modern WoW is probably more like XIV, i havent played it in many many years.
>Raiding in XIV is fun
It's the satisfaction learning the fight, and pulling it off. It is DDR, and I love it for it. Even the recent Zeromus Ex fight I liked, not mechanically demanding but still a fun as fuck fight.
Show off your raid playlists lads.
I finally figured out why I hate modern Ganker so much. A large percentage of you fuckers are stuck 5-20 years in the past. Crying about Windows 7? Still blaming AMD drivers? Not even a fucking peep about HDR but you talk about next gen gaming? Come on.

Yeah it was, it did well on the nominations considering it was only released on a single platform, the PS5 and most other titles except the Zelda one of course were multiplats. I doubt it'll get any awards but it's cool to see it getting a mention. I'm hoping for news on the two story DLC's they've got coming out hopefully at the awards shows considering what those shows really are, are advertisements for games.

Maybe it'll get the music and VA nomination.
RPG is obviously out, since it's hardly one, and on top of that, it's up against Baldur's Gate.
Narrative is maybe possible, but again, it'd up against Baldur's Gate. As well as Alan Wake, Cyberpunk's DLC and Spider-Man.

Before the explosive expansion of social media people generally had no idea what the prevailing opinion on a lot of things like movies and games were so they relied on media reporting with only a vague understanding of the inner workings of these things.
Now in the era of information and the advent of famous people and "acredited" organizations proving themselves to be fucking retards on Twitter many people no longer take awards seriously because they can tell that normalfags have shit taste and journalism is a sham, but not everybody has reached this point and some still put stock in these dying institutions. Other use it as prop for their consoomer flamewars despite having no respect for these awards, they just want ammo to chuck at [other game].
AMD drivers still crash frequently on Windows.
However, the open source Linux drivers work flawlessly. It's only their proprietary Windows drivers that are shit.
I'm conflicted
My honest reaction
On one hand, grats. To have personally tried and gave up on a ultimate grind, I know how hard it is
On another hand, I really feel like this is a wasted effort, personally. Did you at least feel friendship and comradery with your static members ? If not for the friends made along the way, what did you gained from it ?
Ah, nvm. Its Savage. Cleared that shit in one week.
>NOOOO DON'T CALL MY GAME THE TRANNY GAME IT- IT'S YOU WHO'S THE TRANNY GAME NOOOOOO
lol, lmao even. tranny game, made by trannies for trannies. enjoy your deviantart dragons you lil freak.
I liked p8s alot more
like you said SC1 is fun, I liked SC2A and 2B too. But for everything else the fight was kinda lame. P2 caloric is kinda cool in how resolve but the actual execution is really boring. I think I only liked Pange and Classical2 in P2
Having savage players do wormhole in P1 was also cool. But P2 was just lame, fight ends and starts repeating at 4:30, music was horrible, and the wipes in PF give you an aneurysm. At least in NA2 you only wiped to sigil, while on classical 2 you'd lose your brain when Timmy loses all spatial awareness 5 minutes into the fight.
>classical 2 you'd lose your brain when Timmy loses all spatial awareness 5 minutes into the fight
kek in 10 a2c groups i've been all of them have people just with their brain melted after 30 mins in P2 >wipes in classical 2 >wipes in pange >then caloric 1 >and finally in classical 1 and then the party disbands
I thought I just had shitters but I think it was honestly the fight making you slowly lose your brain while some shitty ivalice music was playing
Yeah, I'm gonna agree. We know he has a disdain for XIV, and drive-by jab followed by an immediate prune is too suspect.
Meanwhile there's 3-4 WoW threads up at a given time until bump limit, so it's definitely bias.
>until bump limit
that's the funny part, most of them don't hit bump limit. People keep making them but they die after a couple hundred posts these days. A week ago they hit bump limit but the interest for the new content has already cooled.
There's been 2 threads in the past 24 hours, one last night, one this morning, both didn't have FFXIV in the title, both had zero avatarfagging, both got pruned within 200 posts. It's pretty obvious that if the avatarfags can't find and shit up the thread, but the janny manages to find it, he'll just remove it.
Pass. Story's shit, people are annoying, their high end raids won't stop reusing 2 decades old mechanics and most of the difficulty comes from gear gating and the fact that you're dealing with fifty layers of RNG when you want to meet the gear requirement.
No interest in weekly loot lottery.
Additionally: the game has no actual armor, just painted textures and plates glued to their chest, it has no unique job animations, just the generic same casting and melee animations shared between every job with very few exceptions, all headwear cuts off hair and makes you look bald.
The conclusion to a saga thing fucked them up, they keep repeating it for every expansion now. They said it again at blizzcon even though shadowlands was the supposed end of a 20 year old arc already
>shadowlands was the supposed end of a 20 year old arc already
LOL
fuck off, shadowlands tried to force in some literal who as the true final villain behind literally everything and then pretend it was some grand story arc to try copy XIV
>Thankfully, it's an actual disabled character!
There's something utterly hilarious about that.
I'm glad that, no matter how bad XIV gets, I don't recall anyone being quite this bizarre.
You mean Arenvald?
Probably because he was a fully-realized side character who lost those functions in battle with a Primal and it was done more to break Alphinaud down a bit and rebuild him than anything else.
Meanwhile the disabled dragon is just there to be there. So that some homosexual on twitter can go "OH EM GEE BLIZZARD HAS QUEER-ABLED TRANS-SCALIES!!! I HORKED! I HORKED AND PRE-ORDERED THE WOMAN WITHIN!"
Shit game with a shit "story", 90% filler, generic anime/jap trash, only amerihomosexuals that haven't opened a book since middle school are impressed by this mediocre slop
Congrats anon, I personally skipped this tier and don't think I care enough to go back once new tiers drop in the next expansion. In general after so many years I don't feel like accumulating more mounts, glams and orchestrolls. Fingers crossed they change things up a bit though. I kind of hoped CBU3 would make a new MMO going forward that wasn't final fantasy but it's own IP. XIV feeling pretty bloated nowadays.
This shit is genuinely harder to do past week 8 because all good people cleared already and you are only left with retards that refuse to heal during limit cut or sc2. Glad you finished it.
It can get rough when there's too much intense light concentrated on parts of the models in general, t b h.
The brighter, the worse.
Partially because the lighting quality itself is meh, and partially because the mesh geometry of characters is pretty fucking archaic. Dawntrail might not fix it all, but it should at least make it considerably better.
Should at least fix the weird corner of the mouth lighting.
cause the game actually does good sometimes so why does it have to look like such shit in others?
to this day i don't get why night time applies an ugly grey filter over the game.
god p12s p2 skybox is so fucking cool I almost wish it had lore
It's clearly the world athena would make as a god, as evidenced by her wing pattern in the sun's rays and all the rainbows but I'd love to know what they meant by the endless snake coils
FFXI isnt fun to play. I felt like I was missing out so I tried Horizon at launch and it was horrible. The only enjoyment I got from it was healing and buffing people I came across while leveling and saved them from dying. I liked back in older MMOs where dying was actually a huge loss and you could swoop in and save people. But XI's gameplay is abysmal.
I finally did the patch msq yesterday.
Gotta be honest I did not expect the "power of friendship wins over the villain" gambit to WORK, but I'm a sucker for it so it still felt good in the end. Shame that besides Gaia showing up in the last quests that doing the role quests doesn't seem to make much of a difference, like Cylla doesn't have new dialogue. Enjoyed scary Yshtola.
I couldn’t get a group to clear it. We wiped for 40 minutes (which is normal, usually takes a couple lockouts) and then someone left and no one else joined.
That's every tranny fantasy 14 thread on Ganker. I legitimately don't see the point in them being here when it's just /vg/ with marginally less avatarfagging.
Nah, I'm still hopeful. You can't doom me.
Just curious what's going to happen and how long this new arc will take to build up.
This is basically like being pre-ARR, and I wonder how long it'll take until the fruits of that will be borne.
the parallels are more obvious in comparison to the film successes. big finish did well, but most people are ready to move on. I'm sure there will still be a sufficient population to keep playing though
The only good thing about Eden is the interaction between Urianger and Thancred (gone by the last wing) and the fact that you get your WoL's dark-aligned concubine. With Ryne being your light-aligned concubine.
god I just tried fall guys. I wanted to think I could get a few wins but I couldn't even deliver a single fucking crystal. the obstacle course one wasn't bad, but I can't do a fucking thing on the crystal delivery. anyway, just bitching a bit. I will eventually grind out the losses to get the emotes.
You have to get a bit used to the cadence with stuff. It took me a few games to get somewhat consistently good at it.
That said, if you're in a game with cheaters, that doesn't mean much.
Today's theory that will be proven as fact, final expansion dungeon power ratings, including setting, music, characters, replayability, boss fights and 'wow factor':
Ghimlyt Dark > Baelsar's Wall > Keeper of the Lake (remake) > Pagl'than > Lunar Subterrane
sorry, while I do enjoy Lunar Subterrane, most of its oomph comes from out of game memberberries and i don't weigh those very strongly
Ghimlyt Dark > Lunar Subterrane > Baelsar's Wall > Pagl'than > Keeper of the Lake
Wasn't fan of Pagl'than at all, and Keeper of the Lake, despite the remake, is stuck firmly in ARR territory.
Honestly, the only two I like on this list are Ghimlyt and Lunar.
I don't know. I just didn't care for it at all. The final bit was nice with the fields and Lunar Bahamut, but holy fuck that entire aesthetic for like 90% of the dungeon just didn't gel with me, and the bosses weren't that great either.
(Maybe it's cause I never cared about Amal'jaa)
>Someone used LB on Nabriales instead of the tear >Tank doesn't soak meteors >Nabriales gobbles too many balls causing everyone to die to super gay aids
To me, this trial was so boring, so unremarkable I'd unironically place it under fucking Bismarck.
The idea was cool and the dragon model was nice, but it was just kinda forgettable. Only old Cape Westwind was worse. It finds itself under Chrysalis, The Limitless Blue and Emanation.
Of course, of course. The meme is great, but the actual trial was godawful.
Plus Rhitahtyn's fight is actually way cooler post-rework. Considerably so. Same for ARR-Lahabrea.
Somehow the game just kinda lost a lot of its charm for me
Like before I would kinda get invested with the characters a bit, read discussion online, take screenshots of myself doing stuff etc
Now I don't even care about doing msq anymore when before I would do everything instantly on day 1 so that I could jump in the ex trial with others and have fun blind progging
Thats because the game is boring. Job design takes no risks. Story takes no risks. Boss fights are about the only thing trying things like different arenas.
I think I'm the only one who hated Yotsuyu's fight. I hate when they put stupid story segments in fights because it completely ruins the flow. Looking at you Eden's Promise.
Oof, I love Yotsuyu's fight. The music is great and the narrative of it is very nice to me. But I can get why you're not fond of it.
Chrysalis is still the worst trial, I would put it below even goddamn Bismarck
Really? Leviathan, Bismarck, old Cape Westwind, old Steps of Faith, Emanation and new Moggle Mogg all put me to sleep.
Chrysalis isn't great but it keeps me sorta awake.
That part during the intermission where Gosetsu saves Yotsuyu from Zenoes still gets me. She had resigned herself to her fate but a piece of her heart still held onto Gosetsu's kindness.
Man nobody used the threat reduction, stances were useless because you were stuck in tank stance pretty much the entire time
They were pointless.
Not true. All you had to do was ask your healer if they want to heal or fight. If they fight then stay in tank stance. If they wanna heal then go to dps stance. Believe it or not, sometimes people need a leader.

Yeah...
The problem with tank stance was that tanks did fuck all damage with them on but most players refused to use their aggro control abilities so tanks were forced to sit in tank stance all the time or the mob/boss would decide to hit anyone but the tank.
It was more fun to actually use your entire kit but being able to play your job depended on other people which is not enjoyable.

Imagine if gameplay was like that today.
The forums would be burning down.
old trials are ones I want that can be done quick, Chrysalis isn't done quick, and somehow its so easy to fuck up. A sprout DPS will never touch their LB for anything, but here's Chrysalis and suddenly every fucking one wants to use it on Nabriales
LMAO okay I get your point. I had that exact experience in the Chrysalis once. Never had a sprout use LB in any trial ever. But here comes Chrysalis and some sprout monk decides to use it on Nabriales before the rift phase. Hilarious.
I miss what it was when people had to engage with the mechanics and play the damn game, before it was removed people would just tunnel vision the boss, ignoring adds ignoring cannons ignoring the dragonkiller towers. It was never as fun as it was on launch.
I just cant find any motivation
I start patching and then cancel again, just sitting in my room on my couch staring at walls
Every day, at some point I'll have a thought of "you can't be 11/12 when the next expansion launches", but I never actually log in anyway
Haven't even attempted the fight, I did 11 once, then recleared and then just never logged in again afterwards
Nothing spectacular from me, really, and I don't have one for all jobs.
In fact, I have 2 for SAM (in case I wanna switch to a more traditional glam) and none for the others except the ones in the image, lmao.
SGE is kind of placeholder until I get a glam I like for it. Just wanted to not have a default portrait.
Healing the 3rd dungeon of the expansion is always a treat because that's when people start being undergeared and they still wall to wall pull despite taking a ton of damage. Bardam's mettle was the best one, those asshole birds tore tanks a new one
Stance Dancing was never good. It was barely a thing in WoW, it was barely a thing in FFXIV and developers are so lazy they can't be bothered to make it interesting beyond "Big Dick Stance make big damage, Big Balls Stance take less damage"
>"Big Dick Stance make big damage, Big Balls Stance take less damage"
The problem with the Tank version is that Tanks REFUSED to use their Tank stance. They had to give DPS a fucking button to reduce enmity because Tanks just wouldn't fucking use it.
As for Healers they removed Cleric because people kept forgetting to swap and they would throw out a cure for 100 HP and cause a wipe.
>get in static >listed as midcore >didn't clear P8S until the week of the unlock >skip to P12S because otherwise we'd be spending hours wiping on reclears for gear we don't need >still on Para 3 prog despite reaching LC1 because people can't just go to their spots
>never get in static because anxiety and I can never tell people to fuck off >friend makes fun of me for being stuck in pughell >clear p8s week one while he and his ultimate static take 3 months for it
It almost makes me want to drop statics altogether come Dawntrail and just PF due to my IRL scheduling being fucked and everyone wanting to raid Wed/Thur/Fri/Sat
I just cant deal with being in any sort of organized environment anymore because they stress me out
Like I start noticing things like annoying speech patterns or a guy's microphone picking up their typing and hyperfixate on it and get annoyed, same with people making consistent mistakes in game, but then I can't get over myself to just leave and look for another place
It feels like job hunting and I already deal with this kind of shit for 8 hours every workday
oof, my condolences, anon. Mine was semi slow going as well, but we cleared i wanna say... 5 months? into the tier, but that was primarily because of some shitty players rotating out until we had a solid core.
like, iirc we ended up having my first cotank (DRK) randomly quit but he was massively shit anyway, so one of the healers moved to PLD and I to DRK, and we swapped out a RPR who hadn't even gotten the tome pieces of his BiS several weeks in for a random samurai that we picked up in pf prog

The level 90 alliance raids are as difficult as the level 50 alliance raids.
They're easy and boring. Not once have I had a wipe on Thalia. And its do disappointing. THESE are the guardians of the realm? A cube and a twink in a mech have given players more trouble.
My arguement still stands. Endwalker is trash. Trying to replicate Shadowbringers with the Garlemald/Thavnair and Final Days expansion is a bad idea.

in terms of gameplay, community and overall enjoyment of the game 2.0 was leagues above everything else that came after. >everyone was kinda shit at the game and just did their own thing without too much metahomosexualry >devs still didn't have content development optimized so you'd get tons of experimental fights >community was small and splintered across the different servers so everyone relevant to you kinda knew each other >trannies and mods hadn't infested the game yet and people actually played the game
It was absolutely a fucking based time to play the game and the only people who unironically think 2.0 was bad are people who didn't play back then or hear about some of the janky stuff out of context and assume it must have been horrible.

3.4 basically marked the death of old-XIV and the beginning of nu-XIV
It's when they released the easiest raid tier and extreme up to that point and changed auto attacks to be totally braindead in an attempt to make raiding more accessible.
It's also when they started putting exclusive content in the cash shop that wasnt just old event items.
Most of what's bad about the game today can be traced back to this patch.

The type of person to be attracted to a lalafell is below even a e-boifag. They're the type of sicko to be attracted to literal toddlers. You could not be more of a depraved pedophile than a lalafag. At least gnomes from WoW look like actual adult midgets.
I wouldn't have a problem with avatarfagging if it was a femra or a catgirl, but the lalas (who make no secret over the fact that they're sexually attracted to their lalas) are just repulsive. It's like that femworgen furfag from /wowg/ who spams those threads with his ugly femworgen he tries to sexualize. Or the charrfags from /gw2g/. I mean charr don't even have tits FFS. I swear every MMO has that one wierdo who sexualizes the most disgusting thing and tries to force his fetish onto every thread about said MMO.
I'm tired of Jannies letting these degenerates stick around and shit up threads for all of these games. At least the e-boifags are (often) sexualizing teenage girls so I can allow that. But when you have some dude with an extremely unpopular and gross fetish forcing the rest of a thread to be subject to his gross fetish and mods do nothing about them it's insufferable.
What I like about internet forums vs Ganker is that they will actually ban these degens. Unfortunately that means e-boichads (even the ones only into teenage e-bois) also get banned.
Dude, this game needs lore guys BADLY. The amount of shit takes and players that try to discuss lore and yet for some bizarre reason have tremendous holes in their knowledge is astounding. Trying to discuss the lore of the game with people is like playing russian roulette with 5 bullets and at any fucking moment they can hit you with something like "What do you mean Solus was an ascian?".
That's more a paying attention thing than a story thing.
WoW needs lore guys because its story is a shattered mess of canon and noncanonicity, with shards of additional info flying about in external media, like books, but then some of those books are noncanon, or partially canon, or they were noncanonized a year ago, or they "were written from the perspective of someone with biases"
Lore guys in WoW are the only ones autistic enough to trawl through all that garbage and attempt to untangle it.
XIV doesn't need it because most of its story is told in game. Most mistakes come from people not paying attention.
True, but goddamn, people REALLY struggle paying attention for some reason. Between the players who decide they don't like a place or character so they're gonna skip every scene that includes them so they inevitably lose track of the story when it involves them, the players who just lose track of it simply because someone talked for too long, and the ones who are seemingly just stupid enough to not get what they're being told, this game is chock full of people who have no idea what they're doing. And the stupid thing is that they're the most vocal about it.
I get your frustration. Again, that's more lack of wanting to understand or learn things. Those same people grossly misinterpreting stuff now would never care to go watch some lore video. At least, that's how I feel about it.

Yeah, no, you're right. I just feel like venting I guess, from the sheer amount of times I've stumbled on someone who argues like a brick wall. At least there are people who miss on a plot point but if you tell them about it they actually go check it.

I wonder if we're on opposing sides considering one of those arguments..
Anyway, putting that aside, I think it might be because Shadowbringers and Endwalker introduced their fair share of ambiguity. Moral ambiguity and also in terms of historical events. Doubtlessly to invite passionate debate. Except.. well, you see what has become of it.
Anonymous
Well yeah, discussions about ShB and EW have gone to shit precisely because of that brick wall style of arguing. >I wonder if we're on opposing sides considering one of those arguments..
In my defence, I always try to stay flexible and I never ever say "X plot point or character is shit and always has been shit and always will be shit". There are probably a number of characters I dislike that I can count in one hand, because even if I decide I don't like a character I still listen to people who try to tell me their good points, and I try to distinguish between when I just dislike someone's personality or role and when that role is actually, objectively badly written, because after all it's not like I enter the game wanting to hate on things. I want it to be good.

Given the circumstances, I just wish they had been clear about some few historical events, rather than going "teehee, well some stuff happened and people were on opposing sides, but there is no real answer there and it's up to you to decide who was in the wrong."
Some people might hate that kind of handholding, but the absence of it has given us a bunch of typographical shitflinging for a while now.

I didn't have a problem with them representing Venat sundering the world in a "symbolic" cutscene (which is probably what you're refering to) but after seeing the absolute fucking mess that came from it, I really wish they hadn't. Depends on how figurative they wanna be about it. Remember it was Emet's Hythlodaeus-recreation who mentioned it. Someone who would not only have a bias by virtue of being pro-Zodiark plan, but he also was a recreation by an Ascian who was extremely pro-rejoinings and pro-Zodiark.
Anyway, now you got people arguing that it was basically flowers and shrubberies and maybe Themis' pet dog.

I'm still pretty sure it meant people. "Life energies" was just the ancients trying to be "clean" about saying they were essentially having human sacrifices. If it had just been plants and animals as the Trancers defended so many times, there wouldn't have been a conflict about it.

The Ancients considered anything with a soul to be 'living', and it's not like souls are bound to a race or species. Plus any aether is part of the Lifestream.

That was for the new plan after the rejoinings, not the original third sacrifice that resulted in the sundering.

>The Ancients considered anything with a soul to be 'living',
True, but most of them also didn't consider non-Amaurotines to have souls, afaik.
Anonymous
They did, it's discussed in Elpis. Something is only considered to be alive once granted a soul, and it's the planet that grants souls. So a creation on its own isn't alive, but if one creates some kind of animal that can live and reproduce on its own then the planet would give it a soul and it would then be considered to be alive.

Yeah, see, that is *my* take on it. But apparently it makes sense to them that Venat went and Sundered over a few plants and animals, and since the story doesn't give a concrete answer, they're just as justified in insisting that that is how it is.

Yeah. This is why I say that while I was perfectly fine with more vague explanations, now in hindsight I really wish they had gone into autistic detail.
Of course, if they had then people would be instead bitching about how "they remove all mystery and make everything autistic".
he needs it
there's nothing for him to decipher with xiv. it's basically straightforward
the guy was so deprived of opportunities to create cracky fan theories (because the story answers 90% of the questions you have if you click to the next dialogue box) that he had to stop himself mid-dialogue to write notes, force some stupid crack theory out of his ass and then suggest it to his viewers only for the very next sentence to give a far more straightforward and sensible explanation
he needs his "THE TITANS WERE BEHIND EVERYTHING" shit
>there's nothing for him to decipher with xiv. it's basically straightforward
There is an audience of people who don't understand the most basic of shit told to you in this game, and they're in this very thread.
Yes, but lore guys wouldn't help there because most of the reason for why they don't understand the lore and story in XIV comes from the fact that they don't want to. Not the game failing to tell its story properly.
Only thing I know about the guy is that he thought the Ancients and the Allagans were the same people or something. Like he thought the Allagans summoned Zodiark and then everyone laughed at him
True, but most of what they are involved in is typically stated. I guess you could say that they didn't reveal that Emet had a direct hand in the Allagan Empire until Shadowbringers.
But there's no real "OH THIS THING HAPPENED THE ALLAGANS WERE BEHIND IT FOR SURE." followed by years of throwing random shit about it at the wall. Because if the allagans are behind a thing, you will typically know within half a year, if not the next quest zone. Whereas with WoW, the guy has theories still bubbling from LEGION because Blizzard simply doesn't offer any clarity at all.
>Whereas with WoW, the guy has theories still bubbling from LEGION because Blizzard simply doesn't offer any clarity at all.
This. WoW storytelling was so over the place and took so much time to develop that you could spend years making theories before you got any real answer. The saddest thing is that the WoW writers already made very clear that they can retcon everything they don't like and that there is no real interest on being faithfull to the original lore.

Remember when they introduced a Dreadlord who was allied with the Army of the Light?
And then everyone was clearly suHispanicious because Dreadlords are evil.
But no, the story enforced that he was definitely 100% a good guy stop being distrustful. Look, he even maimed himself, got rid of his horns and wings and infused himself with light. He's not with the Legion!
And then they reveal in a random book object out in the middle of nowhere 6 years later that he was actually a triple agent who was working with the Jailer all along, being allied with neither the Legion, which they had betrayed to join the Army of Light, but not the Army of Light either, which he had infiltrated.

At least Riot can justify it by saying that they want to have one coesive lore that can be shared by all the IP. Blizzard tried to do that just to give up and decide that everything is just a point of view and everyone is a unreliable narrator.

The devs even make fun of their own inability to close plot threads by wearing shirts saying "WHAT SWORD?" because people have been complaining for like 6+ years about a massive sword stuck in the planet
>well, we have allagans and ancients for that. he can get that right here.
It's not about knowing who created what. It's about making fanfictions to explain why things happens since the story won't tell you. Most "theories" those WoW loremasters come up with end up never go anywere because they put way more thought on it than the writers did. it's content directed to people that like Azaroth and the idea of stories on the WoW setting, but can't get anything good from the lore in the game.
>Most "theories" those WoW loremasters come up with end up never go anywere because they put way more thought on it than the writers did.
It's also lucrative.
Some wow lorefag youtuber can make up like 20 headcase theories about dur titans that will never be touched upon by Blizzard, so they're basically neither valid nor invalid for years, which means they can be peddled because they have plausible deniability. All stuff that'll get the unfortunate, addled, half-catatonic remaining handful of tortured lorefags clicking.
With XIV, if you try to make a mid-quest crack theory, it might fall apart the very same quest. Can't really make a huge video on that and sell it to the lorefags in XIV.

This. The lowest form of Warcraft player. They get shitted over by blizzard time and time again, even more than people that only care for raids/M+. The worst part is that doesn't matter how much blizzard destroys the lore of the game, they always think that the next expansion is going to change everything.

The ARR rework of Rhitahtyn and Lahabrea unironically made the two of them require far more thought. Same for most of Castrum and Prae.

Not sure about Steps of Faith. I didn't do the reworked version.
Sohr Kai I am mixed on. It got better in some ways, but lost in others.
It used to be quite busy, it had the best leveling spot for 45+ jobs and was used for the Bahamut raid and the end of the MSQ. Also has the Gorgimera fate which drops a pet, but it was pretty difficult back then

Nah, I just can't comprehend engaging with this sort of content at all. At least in WoW (at least back in 2006) you could get great gear from raids and shit on other players in pvp. They fucking ruined this for me when they started adding pvp stats and separated gear types so I quit.
>at least with wow
There it is
Even Guild Wars 2 equalizes gear in battleground/arena.

OSRS. Even better, if you bring your expensive PvE shit there and job against a salad robes mage you make someone very happy since they get to loot your gear.

Raiding in XIV is fun mechanically unlike WoW because in XIV when you wipe you literally just appear back in front of the boss. Theres no way back, no reapplying consumables because they stay active, all your cooldowns are back up, etc. If you wipe you can just try again in 10 seconds if you want.
inc: stand still and let mechanic resolve comment.
I love standing still to resolve mechanics
im an EW babby but genuinely some of the hypest moments I've had in a video game were during some of the mechs in p4s where youre resolving them and managing your rotation while the music hits the chorus
I think my favorite part of DSR is how the mechanics past P2 all integrate with the music, but especially freefall during wyrmhole
>Heavensward during DOTH
>Dragonsong as Thordan powers up
>Revenge Twofold during Akh Morn towers
Bahamut in ARR will never be topped in that regard. The entire last phase is timed to "Answers".
UCOB version was great too.
That WITNESS SUFFER BORROW REASON during Heavensfall trio slaps.
this is only half true
it's still not that fun mechanically because once you wipe 6 minutes into a fight you will have to do the exact same 6 minutes over and over again with only the most minor variation until the last retard in the group gets consistent enough to prog 1 mechanic further. then you have to repeat the same 7 minutes over and over
in old WoW you had more tedium before the fight but less tedium within the fight
both are tedious

>In wow you could just not get a mechanic for an entire fight and just stand still and blast.
That's... extremely retarded, and shitty.
>halone mechanic
gives me ptsd. vros... I cant do the 4 step simon says... im ngmi
I love Halone's animations, at least. The targeting reticule shit combined with her just sharply turning around and nuking that entire side of the arena with a flurry of spear thrusts. All in time with the music, especially when it's the part that sounds like a military march.
I wish we had hard(er) Alliance Raids. (Not savage-tier autismo, but like.. EX or slightly above EX.)
TG Cid used to filter so many people the devs are afraid of making 24 mans hard these days
I don't mean making 24 mans hard. I get the Alliance Raids are basically babby-tier and I don't mind that.
I mean making a harder version of Alliance Raids separate from the actual Alliance Raids. Just like you have normal trials and EX trials.
nah they dont need more difficulties, they just need to make them a little more challenging. doesn't even need to be a lot. currently they are too braindead i don't even consider them content
ozma was still wiping parties regularly up until EW lets you blow him away with pure stats

>High energy weeb pop
Not bad Stardust.
I finally figured out why I hate modern Ganker so much. A large percentage of you fuckers are stuck 5-20 years in the past. Crying about Windows 7? Still blaming AMD drivers? Not even a fucking peep about HDR but you talk about next gen gaming? Come on.
>A large percentage of you fuckers are stuck 5-20 years in the past.
Not just a Ganker thing but also a MMO fag thing.
I guess but MMO guys at least grow up eventually. It seems like a lot of Ganker people in their 30s peaked at high school and never left.
>I guess but MMO guys at least grow up eventually
No they don't. Look at WoWfags, they're falling for the exact same trick that Blizz has pulled on them 10 previous times, but honestly this time will be different. Absolute fucking nutcases.
11.0 will FIX. EVERYTHING.
the game is so FVCKING back
lol
FF14 got nominated for best ongoing game at the Game awards, (it won it last year) and again WoW was nowhere insight much like last year. They really don't like that game on there lol.
Did it get nominated again?
I doubt it'll win this time, but neat to get the nomination, at least.
It got a couple of nominations, along with FFXVI got a few. WoW didn't get a single nomination Diablo4 got one or two.
>diablo IV got an accessibility nomination
LMAOOOOOOOOOOO
>alongside Apex Legends and Cyberpunk
Yeah, it's not gonna win this year, lol.
Yeah it's rare to win several years in a row no matter what you're up against
Those nominations are worthless and you know it.
>wow can't even make it onto a worthless vote
lol, lmao
I do agree, but there is a definite disconnect in WoW players who think their game is this huge juggernaut still when it's completely ignored and forgotten at these massive games awards and event shows year after year after year.
>Genshin Impact
>Cyberpunk
>Fortnite
>Apex Legends
Whew...
Since this is basically a battle of fanboyism, I see Genshin winning, followed by Fortnite, followed by Cyberpunk and then FF14.
Surprised genshin even got the nomination, its popularity dropped off quite a bit after honktrain released
Baldur's Gate is probably taking this one.
>best community support
>mostly games without mods
???
retard
If the community isn't supporting the game then it doesn't belong there
Shit like Terraria and Minecraft are defined by community support, why are story games with no mods anywhere near that nomination?
The vote is split 90% Judges/ 10% fanvote. You're right it's a popularity contest but the fanvote accounts for shit, it's who the Journos chosen to be judges decide.
Does Cyberpunk even belong here? It got a expansions, sure but I thought it was for MMOs and live service games.
that's very weird for it to be in that category.
The two I want FF16 to get are for Ben Starr best performer, he truly was an amazing VA to the point where even the FF16 director (not Yoshida) said English was the preferred option, Ben was that good.
The other award for FF16 is for best composer, Soken blew it out of the park with his work, guy never gets recognised for his work on FF14 outside of the community so personally I think this is his chance.
>guy never gets recognised for his work on FF14 outside of the community
And that one Guinness world record he has
Alright and that one Guinness World record he has.
I wonder if anyone picked it for RPG. Hue.
Nah I would have put the game in the Action Adventure category than RPG, but that's me.
Same t b h. It was a good one-time game. Wasn't it also nominated for narrative?
I'll give it that.
WoW got nominated for the award that truly matters!
Didn't they lose?
>GLAAD awards
I don't know what that is?
>The GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Video Game is an annual award that honors video games for excellence in the depiction of LGBT characters and themes.
Kek
So WoW got literally nominated for being the biggest homosexual game of the year.
>there's a fag award for video games
Oh nonono FFXIV sisters, how can we possibly compete?
Remember this every time some sperg goes crying about "troons" in XIV.
>game awards
why do you fucking idiots pay attention to this shit
Good shitpost material
Paid shills
It's very obvious because nowhere else on Ganker would you see people taking awards as anything but paid shilling
Open up this thread (or a Nintendo one) and suddenly TGA are totally valid and deserved and not at all paid off
>It's very obvious because nowhere else on Ganker would you see people taking awards as anything but paid shilling
lol. lmao
there's literally people having genuine arguments over TGA and the results in the TGA thread
Paid sirs arguing with paid sirs
People will behave like TGA means something when their game wins.
People will state they don't mean anything when their game loses.
People will state they don't mean anything when their game isn't even nominated.
The only time TGA has ever looked like something other than blatant Sony/Nintendo shilling is when It Takes Two won, because the game is a literal who and remains that way
Otherwise it's just what excites normalfags or pushes LGBT agenda with no respect for quality
Ganker is normalfag central.
I normanly wouldnt care but I will use it for shitposting fuel
because you know what's gonna happen when either ffxiv or ffxvi loses their respective nominations
Hopefully admins will realize that rangebanning Australia is less work for them and the jannies overall. Otherwise he'll spam threads several times an hour
When you hear AMD crash it's because people lack the 12v amps on their PSU. Watts is irrelevant.
What happens to your CPU when your power is unstable? It crashes
What happens to your GPU when your power is unstable?
My 4070 crashed more on Windows then my RX 580 did :/
>At least in WoW
Pfth.
Other anons mad because WoW actually had meaning to its gameplay loop unlike FFXIV back then
MMOs don't have gameplay loops, it's entirely player driven
Good job bro hope you had fun, Ultimates next.
Congrats OP. Now grab your easy penta legend.
Nice one anon, proud of you. Did you get a weapon or mount?
I'm conflicted
My honest reaction
On one hand, grats. To have personally tried and gave up on a ultimate grind, I know how hard it is
On another hand, I really feel like this is a wasted effort, personally. Did you at least feel friendship and comradery with your static members ? If not for the friends made along the way, what did you gained from it ?
Ah, nvm. Its Savage. Cleared that shit in one week.
w-well I'm new and playing the free trial and I beat Garuda (Extreme) with a duty group last night after waiting in queue for an hour.
So uh..YEAH!
Did you enjoy it? It's a pretty nice extreme to get in mentor roulette provided the tanks can comprehend what they need to do.
I finally got both the mount and weapon this week, hope you get yours soon bro
Don't forget your daily HRT dose now
but they're not playing wow?
>B-but what about w-wow
>They
have a nice day tranny homosexual and don't (you) me back I don't wanna hear it
>NOOOO DON'T CALL MY GAME THE TRANNY GAME IT- IT'S YOU WHO'S THE TRANNY GAME NOOOOOO
lol, lmao even. tranny game, made by trannies for trannies. enjoy your deviantart dragons you lil freak.
>can dish it out
>can't take it
typical troon
XIV is the most played MMO btw
Congrats anon! What did you think of the mechanics? On the whole I rate it below p8s, but I'm a fan of superchain 1 and classical 2
I liked p8s alot more
like you said SC1 is fun, I liked SC2A and 2B too. But for everything else the fight was kinda lame. P2 caloric is kinda cool in how resolve but the actual execution is really boring. I think I only liked Pange and Classical2 in P2
in how you resolve it*
Having savage players do wormhole in P1 was also cool. But P2 was just lame, fight ends and starts repeating at 4:30, music was horrible, and the wipes in PF give you an aneurysm. At least in NA2 you only wiped to sigil, while on classical 2 you'd lose your brain when Timmy loses all spatial awareness 5 minutes into the fight.
>classical 2 you'd lose your brain when Timmy loses all spatial awareness 5 minutes into the fight
kek in 10 a2c groups i've been all of them have people just with their brain melted after 30 mins in P2
>wipes in classical 2
>wipes in pange
>then caloric 1
>and finally in classical 1 and then the party disbands
I thought I just had shitters but I think it was honestly the fight making you slowly lose your brain while some shitty ivalice music was playing
good job
you killed a kindly old lady who was just trying to be a good mom
She was a terrible mom.
why is snake
Snakes were one of the symbols of Athena in mythology.
why do "people" play this floating square/circle game? why is everything a circle/square floating in space?
I dunno.
Was it worth the effort, anon?
yes it gave me fulfillment
now to try out ultimates
>good thread going
>picrel gets posted
>thread literally instantly pruned right after that post drops
Subtle.
???
If you mean that nothing offensive gets posted and the thread gets deleted for no reason then you are correct
God nashu is so fucking hot
>good thread going
>picrel gets posted
>thread literally instantly pruned right after that post drops
Subtle.
Yeah I thought the same lol. Pretty much to the exact second.
>A week ago they hit bump limit but the interest for the new content has already cooled.
As has the interest in shitposting those threads, lul.
There's been 2 threads in the past 24 hours, one last night, one this morning, both didn't have FFXIV in the title, both had zero avatarfagging, both got pruned within 200 posts. It's pretty obvious that if the avatarfags can't find and shit up the thread, but the janny manages to find it, he'll just remove it.
>hypno
trash tier
kys immediately
XIV sucks. Play WoW instead. It is the better and more popular game
>Story's shit
No it's not! It's just had it epic conclusion the the critically acclaimed dragonflight expansion
The conclusion to a saga thing fucked them up, they keep repeating it for every expansion now. They said it again at blizzcon even though shadowlands was the supposed end of a 20 year old arc already
It's for real now.
PLANNED SINCE WARCRAFT 3.
>shadowlands was the supposed end of a 20 year old arc already
LOL
fuck off, shadowlands tried to force in some literal who as the true final villain behind literally everything and then pretend it was some grand story arc to try copy XIV
In 14 I can mute the trannies and turn the player model count to almost 0.
In wow I am forced to help gay homosexual couples collect more fag asses
Grats OP.
Hope you get your Axolotl soon
Why did FFXIV FAIL?
EVEN WITH the Streamers shilling it SO HARD Endwalker was a dud, no endgame, no content, no HOPE
It's called END walker.
>Thankfully, it's an actual disabled character!
There's something utterly hilarious about that.
I'm glad that, no matter how bad XIV gets, I don't recall anyone being quite this bizarre.
0.1 picoseconds in Limsa and i'll change your mind
Nah, if I want worse than Limsa, I can always go to Goldshire.
Funny part is that XIV had a disabled character before this but nobody gave a shit about him and his wheelchair
It does? I can only think of that rape baby but he got added like in 5.55 I think. Still think it’s retarded he doesn’t get a ironwork hover chair
He got disabled as a tragedy and had to retire, which goes against the "disabled people can do everything" narrative.
Arenvald got injured. He's not a pureblooded disabled person, it's not part of his identity. There is no "virtue" in that.
Because it was literally just a guy in a wheelchair, in a setting where that makes sense.
broken. mind and soul
looks more like body and soul, going by that pic.
>snake coils
Was it a viper teaser all along on savage?
I think it was a world serpent thing.
World serpent might actually be part of DT, so who knows
STOP HAVING FUN
hey wowbros you have like 7 generals on vg, use them
okay then go back to your general.
deal
Ughhhhhhhh gearing is so gay
I haven't even finished Normal Panda raids, something about 8 man raids is just... not fun
This shit is genuinely harder to do past week 8 because all good people cleared already and you are only left with retards that refuse to heal during limit cut or sc2. Glad you finished it.
arguably this is an even bigger achievement than early clears since only the grugs are left
t. cleared abyssos a week before anabeseios savage dropped
Congrats lad well done, fuck the naysaying crab bucket twats in the thread. Pic related is only for you.
Stupid cat.
Stick to flaunting your witch tiddies.
god this game looks so fucking ugly when it's not clear skies midday.
Yeah but who gives a shit? Playing an mmo if you're a graphics fag, you picked the wrong genre.
cause the game actually does good sometimes so why does it have to look like such shit in others?
to this day i don't get why night time applies an ugly grey filter over the game.
Use a custom shader, bro. Proper colors, unfucking the contrast, fake AO and a tiny bit of tasteful sharpening goes a long way.
I don't trust the pu-pu
god p12s p2 skybox is so fucking cool I almost wish it had lore
It's clearly the world athena would make as a god, as evidenced by her wing pattern in the sun's rays and all the rainbows but I'd love to know what they meant by the endless snake coils
>beating FFXIV raids or whatever you losers call them
now go to Pandemonium in FFXI you pussy.
It's kino
it only took 10 years
Unreal is almost too hard for me
I don't think going into Bozja alone is the way to do this content
Well nobody else really goes into it either, have fun.
Bozja literally was 72 man full on friday
Congrats anon!
our static is still on phase 1
Now spend weeks farming it without getting drops
Why would you do that? You just need to run it 8 times, one for each static member, and you've got it.
Avatarfag isnt allowed into statics because he's an obnoxious attention seeking homosexual.
Enjoyed scary Yshtola.
>like Cylla doesn't have new dialogue.
I think she does after you finish the questline.
Oh, I think I checked again after I did it but nothing came up. I'll take another look.
I recall there being something new. But it only really popped up after you finished all of the MSQ and went back.
She does.
Ah, I think I might have just gone to see them after giving the crystal to Ryne, not the full finish.
Yeah, most people do that.
>ctrl-f wow

Get over it jesus.
Stop fucking the dragon Nidhana
I couldn’t get a group to clear it. We wiped for 40 minutes (which is normal, usually takes a couple lockouts) and then someone left and no one else joined.
>>ctrl-f wow

>Get over it jesus.
Holy shit, this thread is pure aids
It's not that bad, t b h.
That's every tranny fantasy 14 thread on Ganker. I legitimately don't see the point in them being here when it's just /vg/ with marginally less avatarfagging.
then don't enter them? you're not forced to be here
>tranny fantasy
man you're such a good actor
>best community support
>for a game that had a grand total of two patches this year
Fanfests, live letters, interaction between devs and the players are counted as part of community support.
There are smaller games with way more developer notes
There are mobile games that get a 2x a month news stream
There are? Maybe they were nominated as well?
There's nothing but AAA goyslop nominated because these awards are paid marketing and indie devs can't afford it
There are Indie game categories.
Yeah """""indie"""" devs like Larian who is funded by Tencent or are real life friends with IGN journos and suck each other off for reviews
What game would that be?
>6.3
>6.4
>6.5
anon...
you forgot all the smaller patches in between too
also 6.31, 6.35, 6.38 and such.
I hope Dawntrail can get me invested.
it won't. just like venat, that spark is gone. endwalker was endgame, and dawntrail is miss marvel. it's fucking over.
Nah, I'm still hopeful. You can't doom me.
Just curious what's going to happen and how long this new arc will take to build up.
This is basically like being pre-ARR, and I wonder how long it'll take until the fruits of that will be borne.
>capeshit analogy
the parallels are more obvious in comparison to the film successes. big finish did well, but most people are ready to move on. I'm sure there will still be a sufficient population to keep playing though
>Well come
?
sometimes i go to the crystarium and talk to the npcs just to pretend i'm playing shadowbringers again
>Do another ARR relic since theres nothing to do
>Book step into Sphere scroll step
Yeah I only did one, couldn't muster up the energy to do more
HW tome farming isn't any better sadly
Is the story for this better or worse than Eden?
anything is better than Eden
Way better.
I'd say it's just as bad. But propped up by the fans of elidibus.
The only good thing about Eden is the interaction between Urianger and Thancred (gone by the last wing) and the fact that you get your WoL's dark-aligned concubine. With Ryne being your light-aligned concubine.
Worse, but 8 man raids always have shit stories
Extaordinarily better.
Eden is basically at the bottom of the list, while Pandaemonium is at the top.
(Not that the bar is particularly high.)
All the raids stories in this game have been complete trash, and EW continues that legacy.
it's bretty gud
10/10 If you like Elidibus and Lahabrea and the concept of the WoL being an ancient.
7/10 otherwise.
epic
Still a based EW moment.
god I just tried fall guys.
Honestly, the only two I like on this list are Ghimlyt and Lunar.
>didn’t like Pagl'than
Horrible opinion
super boring dungeon, super boring fights. maybe you like the maiming top but that alone isn't enough
Do you miss it yet?
Not really.
Not really. It was shit.
Nope, the updated version is better
I don't miss wasting 40 minutes of my time because people can't do the ballista launchers right.
I tried using the ballistae once. I missed somehow. Didn't matter as the group killed the boss anyway.
instead we waste 40 minutes on Nabriales because
>Someone used LB on Nabriales instead of the tear
>Tank doesn't soak meteors
>Nabriales gobbles too many balls causing everyone to die to super gay aids
They turned the wrong trial into an instance
I find it funny how easy Nabriales is to cheese when the group has the foggiest idea of what to do.
I only really did it back when it was new, and I never went up the towers or used the turrets so it was kind of a meh fight for me
To me, this trial was so boring, so unremarkable I'd unironically place it under fucking Bismarck.
The idea was cool and the dragon model was nice, but it was just kinda forgettable. Only old Cape Westwind was worse. It finds itself under Chrysalis, The Limitless Blue and Emanation.
I miss posting the 12 line macro with raidplans for cape westwind whenever I got it in trial roulette and there were sprouts
Chrysalis is still the worst trial, I would put it below even goddamn Bismarck
I think I'm the only one who hated Yotsuyu's fight. I hate when they put stupid story segments in fights because it completely ruins the flow. Looking at you Eden's Promise.
Oof, I love Yotsuyu's fight. The music is great and the narrative of it is very nice to me. But I can get why you're not fond of it.
Really? Leviathan, Bismarck, old Cape Westwind, old Steps of Faith, Emanation and new Moggle Mogg all put me to sleep.
Chrysalis isn't great but it keeps me sorta awake.
Wayward daughter is pretty good. I just never cared much for Yotsuyu.
Only parts of it. Heavensward is my favorite.
Honestly? I could see why. Yotsuyu's story post-4.0 drew me in, but I definitely see why most people would be like "meh. Fuck her."
That part during the intermission where Gosetsu saves Yotsuyu from Zenoes still gets me. She had resigned herself to her fate but a piece of her heart still held onto Gosetsu's kindness.
Not true. All you had to do was ask your healer if they want to heal or fight. If they fight then stay in tank stance. If they wanna heal then go to dps stance. Believe it or not, sometimes people need a leader.
Might as well bring 3 dps and 1 healer if you're not gonna tank. You don't actually believe that damage was the issue, right?
SB Monk could tank for a bit given Featherfoot and Earth Fists were a thing. I honestly fail to see the issue with stances.
>for a bit
Hilarious.
I bet you also think Endwalker is great too.
Post your portraits boys, shittalk or praise others.
this is the one i'm using right now. i like your samurai and reaper ones. very cool
Been playing RPR lately
dark
ah fuck, island sactuary sucks so much, but I want its glams
Wouldn't it be funny if the DT msq didn't give gear chests? You can't buy any gear and the mobs hit like a truck.
most people will be in their current gear until about level 95
Healing the 3rd dungeon of the expansion is always a treat because that's when people start being undergeared and they still wall to wall pull despite taking a ton of damage. Bardam's mettle was the best one, those asshole birds tore tanks a new one
>be me
>go in as Warrior
You can all thank me now
I miss stances.
Man nobody used the threat reduction, stances were useless because you were stuck in tank stance pretty much the entire time
They were pointless.
Stance Dancing was never good. It was barely a thing in WoW, it was barely a thing in FFXIV and developers are so lazy they can't be bothered to make it interesting beyond "Big Dick Stance make big damage, Big Balls Stance take less damage"
Fucking thank you.
Stance dancing has always been canceraids to me.
When did you start playing? Stance dancing was really big early on for healers
It wouldn't be funny but I do wish the overworld enemies wouldn't be such pushovers.
>get in static
>listed as midcore
>didn't clear P8S until the week of the unlock
>skip to P12S because otherwise we'd be spending hours wiping on reclears for gear we don't need
>still on Para 3 prog despite reaching LC1 because people can't just go to their spots
We started on Week 2
>never get in static because anxiety and I can never tell people to fuck off
>friend makes fun of me for being stuck in pughell
>clear p8s week one while he and his ultimate static take 3 months for it
It almost makes me want to drop statics altogether come Dawntrail and just PF due to my IRL scheduling being fucked and everyone wanting to raid Wed/Thur/Fri/Sat
5 months? into the tier, but that was primarily because of some shitty players rotating out until we had a solid core.
like, iirc we ended up having my first cotank (DRK) randomly quit but he was massively shit anyway, so one of the healers moved to PLD and I to DRK, and we swapped out a RPR who hadn't even gotten the tome pieces of his BiS several weeks in for a random samurai that we picked up in pf prog
wait no 3 months, i'm stupid, we cleared 8/16/2023, and the last tier released 5/23/2023
What are you, a masochist?
Queue for mahjong on crystal you fucks
Wish I knew 7 other friends that play the game. Doing content like this with randoms is the most unappealing idea ever.
is it more important to parse better or clear content faster
whichever makes you feel good about yourself, sister.
they go hand in hand depending on how much you're contributing, but you shouldn't give a shit about parsing either
sisters what are we expecting from dawntrail dungeons and savage raids
>will it get harder?
im ready to sunbathe also
I'll clear savage
at some point
(not really)
I thought you did Ultimate.
no, that was the violet lala
I'm as casual as it gets, boy
this is my only savage experience
eh
you did more savage than me
>violent lala
Well they are violently racist
that's purple lala who's done the ults
>Avatarfags found the thread again
Notice how they all start posting at the exact same time.
Just don't directly respond to them.
bro? I've been here since the start?
that I can't deny...
>barafags seething
lalas=based
Weeaboo police? This shitter right here, stand on his idle spot.
>Notice how they all start posting at the exact same time.
Because
A) They are one person pretending to be several
or
B) they have a discord that's raiding these threads 24/7.
Stop responding to them FFS. Talk about literally anything else. Talk about Ryne's tits. They won't engage in Ryne coom talk because Ryne is too old for them.
I prefer to talk about Ryne's ass.
Things Venat and Ryne have in common.
Lightladies are stacked.
jesus dude
Like I said you won't talk about Ryne because she's too old for you and try to derail discussion into your gross modbeast lala.
>Talk about Ryne's tits.
Sure thing!
Myth raids are on par with CT raids in terms of difficulty.
what?
The level 90 alliance raids are as difficult as the level 50 alliance raids.
They're easy and boring. Not once have I had a wipe on Thalia. And its do disappointing. THESE are the guardians of the realm? A cube and a twink in a mech have given players more trouble.
>The level 90 alliance raids are as difficult as the level 50 alliance raids.
you're a goober lol :b
Better than a gooner.
well, I mean
CT is nowhere near Myths level.
My arguement still stands. Endwalker is trash. Trying to replicate Shadowbringers with the Garlemald/Thavnair and Final Days expansion is a bad idea.
6.0 > 5.0.
Now thats a shit take.
I'd argue 2.0>6.0
Not a shit take, just the truth.
6.0 > 5.0 > 3.0 > 4.0 > 2.0
5.3 > 3.3 > 4.3 > 6.3 > 2.3
in terms of gameplay, community and overall enjoyment of the game 2.0 was leagues above everything else that came after.
>everyone was kinda shit at the game and just did their own thing without too much metahomosexualry
>devs still didn't have content development optimized so you'd get tons of experimental fights
>community was small and splintered across the different servers so everyone relevant to you kinda knew each other
>trannies and mods hadn't infested the game yet and people actually played the game
It was absolutely a fucking based time to play the game and the only people who unironically think 2.0 was bad are people who didn't play back then or hear about some of the janky stuff out of context and assume it must have been horrible.
I wish I got to experience that.
>FFXIV before modding started
It was heaven
Modding is the gayest thing in this game. Every other search info is about mare, OCs look retarded, regular RP has been nuked, and almost every mod is paywalled. I pray dawntrail fucks up textures so badly no mods are compatible and the scene implodes.
I hate to disappoint you but that's never going to happen. They are barely updating the game...
>it took the devs until 3 point fucking 4 to add a basic white t-shirt
This was basically the start of the game's aesthetic death
3.4 basically marked the death of old-XIV and the beginning of nu-XIV
It's when they released the easiest raid tier and extreme up to that point and changed auto attacks to be totally braindead in an attempt to make raiding more accessible.
It's also when they started putting exclusive content in the cash shop that wasnt just old event items.
Most of what's bad about the game today can be traced back to this patch.
what's weird is they already had a white "tabard" model they could have reused in the 1.0 akihiko style, like the pink one tataru uses
All I want is complete modder/cheater death and a glamour toggle.
Did the same thing but stopped after someone complimented by lizard for being armored up.
>Titan HM used to be the hardest fight in the game (That you knew of)
>Took hours of attempts to even see the Heart.
>>Took hours of attempts to even see the Heart.
no, most fights would make it to final phase. and then everything goes to shit because they can't heal through stomps and people die to puddles. and no esuna after breaking gaols..
Now let's hear from someone who actually played it.
I actually played it and everything he said is correct. You'll never get to experience hanging out in Wineport and actually getting to know everyone on your server.
nice filename bro
You don't know about GankerX, tourist-kun?
I was just saying your filename was quaint. Did your favorite streamer give you that?
>twitch kiddie is too new to know about filename randomizer
Embarrassing.
Well, did he?
Just let it go and stop embarrassing yourself, tourist-kun. Go forward with the knowledge that there's a very popular browser extension with a built in filename randomizer.
I'm sorry you couldn't be there yourself.
Hey another oldfriend, not a lot of us left at this point
Feels like most people still playing started in ShB honestly.
Yeah I think 5/8 people in my static started in ShB. One played since ARR and another started around mid-late HW I think
Your point is trash.
The type of person to be attracted to a lalafell is below even a e-boifag. They're the type of sicko to be attracted to literal toddlers. You could not be more of a depraved pedophile than a lalafag. At least gnomes from WoW look like actual adult midgets.
Why's this so weird?
because whoever made that pic used the shin bone instead of the knee bone to bend the leg, aka a retard
same shit happening with the hip
>Gaia goodness
Ayy saved.
What I like about internet forums vs Ganker is that they will actually ban these degens. Unfortunately that means e-boichads (even the ones only into teenage e-bois) also get banned.
Gaia and Ryne are 17.
>Gaia and Ryne are 17.
And you'd still be called a pedo by normies for waifuing them.

Why did /ourloreguy/ abandon our game in it's time of need to go back to WoW?
least punchable wowrat face
What is this expression meant to convey? The face he makes when he walks in to see his wife fucking another man?
>ourloreguy
Even as a joke I want to slap you for saying this.
Bet you the Allagans made you feel negatively about him.
jokes aside
xiv literally does not need a lore g-
>zodiark trancers
never mind i guess xiv needs a lore guy
I'd love to be a lore guy. But then you have to do all the marketing and stuff for youtube. I just can't do that part.
I actually wish they had gone into autistic detail on how they got to that point and how many times did Venat try to turn them away from it. But I mean, who could possibly predict people would flip out so ridiculously hard about it?
I wish they had been clear on what "le 3rd sacrifice" was, rather than going "teehee life energies i aint gotta explain shit xd"
What would "the planet's living energies" refer to except Lifestream?
Wasn't Emet pretty clear it was gonna be more sundered lives when he was screaming at you just before Amaurot? The part where he mentions sundered lives having no worth compared to Amaurotine lives?
The Ancients considered anything with a soul to be 'living', and it's not like souls are bound to a race or species. Plus any aether is part of the Lifestream.
That was for the new plan after the rejoinings, not the original third sacrifice that resulted in the sundering.
>The Ancients considered anything with a soul to be 'living',
True, but most of them also didn't consider non-Amaurotines to have souls, afaik.
>I'm still pretty sure it meant people. "Life energies" was just the ancients trying to be "clean" about saying they were essentially having human sacrifices. If it had just been plants and animals as the Trancers defended so many times, there wouldn't have been a conflict about it.
Yeah, see, that is *my* take on it. But apparently it makes sense to them that Venat went and Sundered over a few plants and animals, and since the story doesn't give a concrete answer, they're just as justified in insisting that that is how it is.
That's post-Sundering, anon.
This was pre-Sundering. In fact, it was the thing that allegedly instigated the Sundering.
>and since the story doesn't give a concrete answer, they're just as justified in insisting that that is how it is.
Yeah. This is why I say that while I was perfectly fine with more vague explanations, now in hindsight I really wish they had gone into autistic detail.
Of course, if they had then people would be instead bitching about how "they remove all mystery and make everything autistic".
>Going back to WoW lore
I would feel bad for him if he wasn't such a little bitch.
he needs it
there's nothing for him to decipher with xiv. it's basically straightforward
the guy was so deprived of opportunities to create cracky fan theories (because the story answers 90% of the questions you have if you click to the next dialogue box) that he had to stop himself mid-dialogue to write notes, force some stupid crack theory out of his ass and then suggest it to his viewers only for the very next sentence to give a far more straightforward and sensible explanation
he needs his "THE TITANS WERE BEHIND EVERYTHING" shit
>there's nothing for him to decipher with xiv. it's basically straightforward
There is an audience of people who don't understand the most basic of shit told to you in this game, and they're in this very thread.
Yes, but lore guys wouldn't help there because most of the reason for why they don't understand the lore and story in XIV comes from the fact that they don't want to. Not the game failing to tell its story properly.
having a lore guy isn't going to fix that because those individuals want to be right, not correct
Only thing I know about the guy is that he thought the Ancients and the Allagans were the same people or something. Like he thought the Allagans summoned Zodiark and then everyone laughed at him
He thought the Allagans created both Hydaelyn and Zodiark afaik.
He think allagans are titans of 14.
>he needs his "THE TITANS WERE BEHIND EVERYTHING" shit
well, we have allagans and ancients for that. he can get that right here.
The saddest thing is that the WoW writers already made very clear that they can retcon everything they don't like and that there is no real interest on being faithfull to the original lore.
when they make you buy their brand spanking new fancy lore book that promises to SET EVERYTHING STRAIGHT and create a clear and comprehensive timeline in just 3 parts!
(And then they kneecap it by going "hurr hur hurr every story is written from someone's perspective. You can't trust everything that's in it. Wink wonk. ;*~~")
Their lack of respect for storyfags in that game is PALPABLE.
Great.
Reminds me of League lore tbqh. They retcon shit so fucking fast and loosely that the Ruination even had several versions of itself as it was coming out, and nobody knew which was the canon one.
At least Riot can justify it by saying that they want to have one coesive lore that can be shared by all the IP. Blizzard tried to do that just to give up and decide that everything is just a point of view and everyone is a unreliable narrator.
>they can retcon everything they don't like and that there is no real interest on being faithfull to the original lore.
Remember at the end of Cataclysm the dragon aspects gave up their powers and accepted that their time was up and oh wait fuck shit nevermind
>All stuff that'll get the unfortunate, addled, half-catatonic remaining handful of tortured lorefags clicking.
This. The lowest form of Warcraft player. They get shitted over by blizzard time and time again, even more than people that only care for raids/M+. The worst part is that doesn't matter how much blizzard destroys the lore of the game, they always think that the next expansion is going to change everything.
I can't think of a more agonizing and ignominious existence than being a WoW lorefag in 2023.
>With XIV, if you try to make a mid-quest crack theory, it might fall apart the very same quest.
Never forget...
>stall for 25 minutes on a line of dialogue
>spit out theories about Allagans fore the 45673th time that day
>next line of dialogue invalidates everything he said
How Pyro managed to ever put his face back on the internet after that day is baffling.
>everytime Emet talked about the ancient society and he kept thinking it was Allagans
Is he stupid on purpose
>How Pyro managed to ever put his face back on the internet after that day is baffling.
The guy is the perfect example of the MMO player that never played anything but WoW and think everyother MMO works just like WoW.
How is it possible that Preach, a highend player, managed to transition to other MMOs better than any other WoW content creator?
>Ryne and Gaiaposting causes the lalafags to flee
We did it, we found their kryptonite!
no, still here. just doing other things atm
See now they're just gonna do what they always do when they don't get the attention they want: report to the wowbuck janny to get this thread pruned.

I posed Ryne at some point, but I can't find the pics atm

Pretty good twist to the story.
what's the "tier list" of content one can challenge yourself through in terms of difficulty after basic bitch normal/alliance raids
Extreme/Unreal -> Savage/Criterion -> Ultimate
The Unreals are Minstrel's Ballads statted for current, right? Are they still the kind of content you need to research beforehand to really hope to complete?
Yes, they're just old Extremes but level 90. I did some research prior to my week 1 clear on Thordan but otherwise we kind of figured it out by going through the mechs

yikes no thanks i rather go to a nightclub irl like a normal person, now all I do ia login make a maid of my gouse Ryne and pose my character fucking her and sometimes Gaia.
>fuck da coomers n gooners
>btw i like to pose my character fuckn ryn n gaier xd
Lol.
i cleared the current criterion
the ultimates
the savage tier
what else is there to do?
type in shout chat that trans rights are a joke?
if anything im allowed to do this while everyone else cant even do a basic alliance raid
Ryne but exotic.
for me? its alisae
oldfag syndrome is funny in shitcraft but it's somehow even funnier in xiv
hey man it's ok you're not part of the exclusive club but in like 5 years when we're on patch 8.3 you can be the one telling newfags about how much better things were when Anabaseios and Zeromus were current content just like how Stormblood babies do now.
*crack*
*sip*
Yup, Abyssos was a good tier
At least 2.0LARP is slightly less goofy than 1.0LARP.
i too do remember when arr, bros
when everything was super complex and based and redpilled and the community was 10/10 and everyone held hands (but not in a gay tranny way but in a manly way because we are straight men)
i cant believe endbryos missed out on proto-hydaelyn kino when they summoned a massive mothercrystal in ul'dah that killed everyone but the few absolute LEGENDS (you had them in that time, not in current xiv where it's all trannies on the dance floor KEK!!!) who slew her got the best loot
the current producer yoshita pissu would NEVER
good times
i was there btw
get your VPR glam ready
contemplating making my VPR glam just the 6.1 set.
arachne armor of scouting for me. if i play it. not like i like melee jobs
Congratulations on your successful transition, ma'an!
wrong thread, anony
the wow thread is 2 blocks down
gratz man, i might go find another group since mine fell apart and i had to start working night shifts, i got to p12s p2 but just didnt feel like continuing lol
im surprised you found 7 other people to do it with because the game is ultra dead
The ARR rework of Rhitahtyn and Lahabrea unironically made the two of them require far more thought. Same for most of Castrum and Prae.
(Not that it's much, but pre-rework required absolutely no thought)
Not sure about Steps of Faith. I didn't do the reworked version.
Sohr Kai I am mixed on. It got better in some ways, but lost in others.
cute
Why's Northern Thalanan so empty? I'm a shadowbabby so I guess there used to be more in there, but now you just visit the place and move on.
It used to be quite busy, it had the best leveling spot for 45+ jobs and was used for the Bahamut raid and the end of the MSQ. Also has the Gorgimera fate which drops a pet, but it was pretty difficult back then
New vid dropped
lemme guess
"lynx kameli good le cult bad i am jaded and i dont like the game but i dont know what else to do with my life"
>still stuck on 11
11 is annoying because the mechanic everyone fails at comes right at the end but it's not super difficult so just keep trying until you get lucky bro.
12 is a pain in the fucking ass but it's doable too if you have patience
Since XIV is in maintence mode, when is the next mmo dropping?
If you mean from Square, probably never
If you mean any MMO, AoC is vaporware and even if it ever comes out it will be streamerbait slop, and the Riot MMO is a mess behind the scenes so don't get your hopes up
I don't think they plan to develop a new MMO when they're working on the next expansion + a graphical overhaul to last the game for the next 10 years. Sorry bro.
Completely new one? Blue Protocol in early 2024 I guess?
FF17 will definitely be the replacement, and it's coming in 2027. So kick back and enjoy Dawntrail as it will be the last full expac.
played the demo. that game's already dead.
i have 48 hours in this game and i think 37 of them were cutscenes
If you need someone to tell you to stop, that's not me.
Enjoying the free trial?
surprisingly yes, maybe because i like final fantasy in general. it's just very very slow in the beginning
Just make sure not to change to a full account until you reach the end of Stormblood at least.
because it would a waste of money or is for some other reason?
