No. There are instanced story fights against bosses. Extreme is just a difficulty moniker for harder versions of those fights. The extreme versions of the fights have more/different mechanics and phases. Its just a hard mode version of the story fight

There are two difficulties, normal mode which is generally incredibly braindead and for story mode, and extreme difficulty which is a good deal harder (but usually not very difficult)
There are also the raids every other patch, which have normal difficulty (still braindead), and savage which usually is actually quite hard
And then every couple of years they put out a CBT fight called an ultimate of which there are currently five
With how transient all the rewards are, there's really no point. Just play the story quests and then unsub until they release the next batch.
Only thing I do is extreme. The gameplay nor the rewards are good enough for me to waste hours progging.
You're really missing out if you wish the game was a little more challenging. Extreme is doable with pugs, savages get a little more involved. If you want to dive into the first "real" extreme to SoSex/Seat of Sacrifice extreme.
Really you should just go to Khloe and get into them through whatever she tells you to do for the week if you've never done any before.

I honestly don't know why they bother putting in different Mount Music, there is nothing to do in the World apart from Hunt trannies. It's not deadly or dangerous, it's completely non-threatening, most of the playerbase hangs around the city states or the housing districts, the Overworld is a complete waste of time.

The only time I use my mount is when I do the MSQ and even then I'll ride my mount for 10-15 seconds, then dismount from the aertheryte to the quest npc, the Overworlds aren't large enough or connected for it to matter.
This is why they should make the MSQ zones have Eureka/Bozja elements. Don't make exploratory zones, just add that shit to the main zones then made Alliance Raids like BADRCLL.

It wasn't that difficult, but messing up had harsher consequences and there was far less of a tell than in normal.

I did exactly one unreal, it was Levi. Why? Levi Ex is the only non-savage+ fight with healer mechanics. I only do extremes if the normal mode interests me. Otherwise I don't give a fuck. I tried Savage once, Eden 4S was fun, but not fun enough to deal with seven screeching retards that fight and blame eachother anytime something goes wrong. XIV raiding is nothing like raiding was a decade ago, a lot less noise clout chasing as opposed to having fun and getting together to take on a challenge. Then we have axe wound creatures on Ganker who's entire life revolves around their parse. It's probably not worth getting into raiding these days with the amount of mentally unstable creatures roving about.

Samurai or Dragoon would be the easiest, Samurai's skill flow is extremely simple, Dragoon's is long but linear (you have to start alllll the way over if you fuck up and hit the wrong button)

Everything is getting updated apparently. I'm sceptical as I saw the NA live letter and yes environments did look better but to me it just seems they have a new Lighting Engine and haven't really done heavy lifting on anything else.

There will be phased updates for textures in old zones and old gear. The engine is being updated so lighting improvements will be immediate, and player models are also having texture (and maybe polycount?) updates as soon as DT releases. New zones will look better, they particularly highlighted increased foliage density. That's about all we know.

I quit raiding forever after finally getting my first pug clear of p3s. Probably one of the worst gaming experiences of my life. The torture of watching someone die to the very last mechanic of the fight every time we had a guaranteed clear for weeks destroyed my sanity.
People who don't raid are not experiencing the full game or at least the full combat system
they think the combat system sucks, yet
-they don't have the notion of always be casting, they clip their gcd with excessive ogcds and have severe downtime issues
-they don't know how their job kit works at all, they think bard songs last 45 seconds instead of 42 seconds, they have no idea about DoT snapshotting
-they have no concept of dps mitigations like addle feint or phys ranged mits
-they never make use of the macro system that lets you use your movement abilities such as shukuchi or aetherial manipulation much more efficiently, or give buffs and heal much easier
-they lack the game sense to be able to optimize their movement around boss mechanics to maintain uptime
all because none of that is required to clear normal difficulty content
Raiding in EW is not good content, they aren't missing much.

Dragon King Thordan has the best transition: no cutscene, bleeds to keep people focused etc. I've seen so many parties wiping due to sages Holos'ing the bleed or Warriors using shake it off early too.

Now that I've experienced a successful week 1 static with Anabaseios, can someone explain why people say 2 ultimates per expansion leads to burn out? I'd say week 1/2 raiders are ultimate's target audience and these groups can't get burnt out when reclears are done in <1 hour after a few weeks of practice.
Plenty of groups struggle to clear the ultimates before the next thing comes out.
I think more blame is put on the ultimates when really they should've looked at the players themselves and how a tier like Abyssos turned out. The first point is that a lot of groups think they're better than they actually are, Asphodelos was a relatively easy tier which was a rude awakening when they walked into DSR. On the flip side, Abyssos was a pretty rough tier with a good chunk of even week 1/2 raiders being pretty tired of it when they finished it or attempted/cleared TOP.
thing is, clearing a savage tier does NOT prepare a group for ultimates so it was common to see asphodelos statics disbanding after hitting prog walls in DSR
Started playing late Jan this year and managed to join a small FC around April and we've been clearing Savage and Extremes in order and it's been great fun.
Recently did Deltascape V4.0 (Savage) and managed to get the mount drop after about a month of wipes based on 2 2 hour sessions a week. It's pretty comfy but i'm honestly scared to do Ultimate fights especially if they're 30minutes long and you can't even make one mistake - Might just stick with Savage content.
Had a similar experience when I cleared UWU with my FC friends group (we also cleared Omega raids synced before trying ultimate) and let me tell you it was a huge disappointment, so big in fact I cleared the rest of ultimates in pf because I didn't want to do ultimates with them. I'd recommend you guys do Eden raids after you are done with Omega and leave Ultimates for last.
Did you do it with echo or no echo? I found that made a large impact on damage taken for our group when we did Deltascape.
Also what was so disappointing about ultimate's that you couldn't do it with your FC friends? Did you all argue and bicker about it?
We did them no echo. And what disappointed me the most was my FC mates werent as good as a thought (I expected to clear UWU in a week and it took use almost a month despite playing a lot since we were all NEETs). We are still in good terms it's just a decided to step away when it comes to ultimate, i still do old savage raids with them.
Europe has LPDU (ultimate pf community) and there's a standard mit plan for every current ultimate (its not as important for UWU, UCOB, TEA). That's why ultimates in PF are more accesible than people think, it's like standard spreadsheet gameplay and if you play in Europe and wanna tackle ultimates I recommend LPDU. And from my own experience these mit plans are much better/curated than NA scene for example.

How does that even work? Every group does its own mitigation setups that it'd take too long to go over it in chat, and then remember it all for a 20min encounter.

No, the "difficult" mode content isn't designed the same way as the rest of the game. That is to say 90% of the game is designed around doing the content blind and the last 10% isn't.
I've been saying it since the beginning of time that they need to make Hard modes between normal and savage, just copy paste the fucking savage, let the god damn AoEs have markers, make instant death mechanics deal damage and have a huge damage down, and make the loot normal mode with 1 savage book per week.
Easy as piss to put in the game, doesn't reward you hard enough to do it exclusively, and is the proper way to LEARN these BRAND FUCKING NEW encounters that have nothing to do with the normal modes.

Both Endwalker ultimates have such a massive power gap with savage that they aren't on the same territory anymore.

It was delayed but the tuning and mechanics for it put it several steps above of TEA even if the DPS check is starting to be easier with the new relics and 605 gear.

If you do callouts or lead an alliance, there is a good chance you are on those lists. They are high priority targets because killing them disrupts the direction of the zerg.

I had no fucking idea this is what people did in this game, we were going at it for a good 5 minutes, my level 90 against it's level 90 with my main, it got a lucky shot in and killed me.

If an online game requires a completely unrelated program such as discord to communicate with other players, you have failed as a developer. Especially if it's required for on-the-fly communication/coordination. Imagine needing Discord for things like online shooters

In the time it takes to clear one instance of a Savage using PF, I could accomplish a multitude of other shit in the game. It is a massive waste of time, arduous to the utmost, and is simply not worth the headache.
I've gotten comfortable with unreals and extremes; how much harder are savage raids?

p1s and p9s are the same difficulty as extremes
each tier starts easy and gets harder, with the final floor being a two part boss that's much harder to prog than any extreme
p10s is notably hard for a second floor, whereas p11s is rather easy for a third floor savage
Once you've got your gear sorted, just jump in to PFs or make your own, go in with a prog mentality (you will wipe a lot and it's fine, you will do dumb shit and learn from it) and see how you find it.
I really hope they bring back postgame zones like Eureka and Bozja for 7.0. This expansion has just been dead in terms of midcore content.
I literally only logged in once this entire patch on patch day. I don't feel particularly pressed to do the relics as they come out because it's not like there's gonna be a group of people all doing specific stuff for their weapons, its just pure tomestone farming which I could do any time. I don't care about the island really. And I don't care about savage rewards (I might try to do P4S at some point because those weapons were pretty slick). And because my current FC is basically dead, I don't feel any reason to get on socially.

I do/did like the game.
I used to enjoy run extremes with my FC friends. I enjoyed doing relics when they were current (but they at least had some sort of specific grind that would have the community all working on it together, whether it was certain dungeons/raids/fates/what have you), and I enjoy doing new content. This expansion just feels lacking in longterm content aside from learning savage, farming extremes, and building the island. The variant dungeons are interesting, but the rewards don't really make me want to spend a lot of time on them. If they tied the relics to the variant dungeons, I'd be all over that.
I wish MMOs had other things to do at max level than just spamming raids. Even Runescape does that now, it's like they seriously can't come up with anything else.
So, will the new Derplander class be swordmage or pirate? From what we've seen of the sword, it doesn't really seem like a pirate sword, more like a fancy straight sword.
Corsair and a caster, Green Mage, Druid, or something to do with Turtle Summoning.
I think Krile will have the new caster class. The devs did say she'd be more relevant in 7.0 and she's the only one who hasn't shown up in any way yet.
I also think the Explorer from the Myths and Gods Alliance raid is going to be part of the story in Dawntrail, personally I think he's the guy speaking on the boat who you can't see but says "Welcome to my home, the New World in your language Tooral" or however it's spelt.
I think that might have been the lalafell driving the boat.
Even if not, I'm pretty sure the explorer is one of the 12. He's been pretty mysterious the whole time.

I'm not raiding in Savage or Ults. I did that shit in SB, in Shadowbringers and it made me hate the game. I swore I'd never do it again and I'm having far more fun with it overall.

Just so you know, the exp you get between now and HW will be pretty minimal compared to what you were getting before. At launch it didn't give any exp since you were already level cap, but whenever a new expansion comes out, the patch quests get a pittance of exp added to them.

Good to know, I hate losing on free exp hence why I did it but I didn't want to get a new job all the way to lvl50 to accept the new quests since that would slow me down even more. I'll keep going with my paladin and accept the level cap as it is then.
For reference, the last lvl 49 quest gives you 27840 experience. Each lvl 50 quest will give you 2340 exp.

It might hurt you to hear it, but you've still got a load of bullshit to deal with in ARR after you beat Ultima weapon.
For me ARR was a complete slog, I was starting to hate the game but sunk cost kicked in and I wanted to make it to Ishgard.
Glad I did because for me, Heavensward was when the game clicked for me and I started to really love it, but personally ARR I really didn't like not even in retrospect after the re-work.
You can do it faster, but it should take 3-4 weeks of playing every day to get to current MSQ content. This game has 10 years of content to get through, you're not going to finish that in a day or two. As for XP, you'll have plenty of it for whatever class you use through the MSQ. As for leveling other jobs, do that later or when you've had your fill of MSQ for the day, like do PVP with a 2nd job to level it on its own. Leveling a job is terribly easy now.
I skipped the cutscenes for the Louisoux quest and this years Rising. I don't give a FUCK about 1.0 crap.
I play XIV like I did original WoW Wrath. Login, queue up and do some easy dungeons, do some easy normal mode raiding with pugs, join the occasional outdoor group content (For the aliance raids in WoW, Hunt trains in XIV), and then just hang out and chat.

My theory is that the first person to queue causes a server to be provisioned for the duty. If you're queueing right at the start then multiple people are all requesting new servers and the game creates them all. But subsequent players will only join one of them (probably the first)

for the past few days, I have been logging on to Ultros to pvp on primal because it pops 24/7. every time I log on, i pop in next to a dead roegadyn. everytime I log on, there's a different group of people sweeping around his corpse. I don't think he ever logs out. I'm a little worried he's actually dead in real life, and this is all that's left of him.
I only do ultimates with a plug-in that tells me exactly what to do like 10 seconds before it happens. I don't like this game's endgame "gameplay" (move here or everyone dies instantly) enough to spend 20+ hours doing a single song and dance over and over again but I still want the stuff. It's a shame but oh well.
I did enjoy all the extreme trials so far and I'm post heavensward now. Story is kinda lame and really needs more voice acting tbh. I gotta say from everything I did, extreme trials were the most fun. Its nice to have a challenge while the game itself so far is so easy

I already did that and I hated every second of it. I still wear Ragnarok Zeta as my axe-of-choice. Every single other finished ARR relic is either completely mogged by its base relic (who the hell will take Longinus over Gae Bolg?) or it's not worth the trouble over buying and dying a Nightsteel crafted weapon (Sasuke's Blades)
