      I never got this meme.
If my neighbor offers me $5 to borrow my lawnmower for the week and I let him, then you break into his garage and steal it from him while he has it
      that's still stealing, isn't it?

The difference here is that the lawnmower doesn't actually exist

It's spite about game licenses that can go away if the storefront goes away.

The difference here is that the lawnmower doesn't actually exist

Taking the above into the account. Your neighbor still has the lawn mower. The thief also now has the same lawn mower somehow. Also, if that thief lacked the opportunity to steal (clone) the lawn mower, they wouldn't have made the effort to go to Home Depot and buy it in the first place.

          Anonymous

Your argument now is comparing Stealing vs Piracy.
But the original meme is implying you can't steal rented goods.

          It's two different arguments.

            Anonymous

I'm suggesting stealing is not a genuine argument and thus reframing it as piracy, which is more accurate

If the lawnmower had infinite copies of it accessible at any time he wouldn't even notice one of them was taken. Just like those multibillionaire companies don't actually know how many people pirate their games, because it doesn't actually impact them in any way.
            Black person.

            I'm not disagreeing...?

Still I couldn't care less about piracy, because it's fricking ridiculous as a premise. If I don't want to pay for your game, I just won't play it. It's not like people are actually forced to spend their money. And this shit has been proven a billion times.

not paying workers a living wage for a full time job is unethical but employers do it every day. it's not ethical to buy a family home you have no intention of using. It's unethical to gouge for necessities while controlling the market. It's unethical to fire skilled workers before tenure just to rehire less skilled at a lower rate every quarter. It's unethical to make food content with processed materials that are classified as poison. It's unethical to deny healthcare, parental leave, vacation, water breaks, food breaks, education. It's unethical to sell a product while maintaining ownership. That is not a sale. That is not a fricking sale. It is a limited license. It is unethical to force multiple generations who were told they could have all this and the kitchen sink if they work hard only to shove them into a system that only allows us to rent while being sick uneducated and forced to gobble down forced inclusitivity agenda when we were perfectly inclusive back then. A lot of the people who fund Exodus also push money to the boards at both Visa and Mastercard, so all that drama you hear about payment processors is them too.
