I don't understand.

I don't understand. I've been playing this for 60 hours and all I can do is eat shit and die ever since I got access to the crusade. I fundamentally don't understand the game. I constantly face characters who I cannot hit with anything but crits, and I can't even use any kind of strategy beyond that because my spells also don't hit them, or if they do, it's for 8 damage on a 217 hp enemy. I think I've landed one (1) single dispel for the entire duration of the game, and believe you me, I've been trying to use dispells liberally.

I don't get it. I just want to stop missing, but no matter how many buffs I use I constantly find enemies I cannot hit. What the frick am I doing wrong?

I didn't auto-build my character, you shit-for-brains animal. The game has a million skills and systems going on, I'm going to autobuild the other characters because
          1. I'm not good enough to even know what choices are good
          2. It's simply overwhelming having to consider builds for 5 classes at the same time when it's my first time playing the game.

Because it's fricking cool. I like witches, and I wanted to play a rogue who uses light casting to help him get what he wants.

Little did I know I can't actually hit any enemies with my spells because my DCs are lower than the average of the enemies' wills I encounter, so it's literally unusable. I still use some stuff like invis, blur, etc, so it's not completely useless, but it's pretty useless.

STOP PLAYING ON UNFAIR YOU FRICKING IDIOT

I'm playing on the default difficulty.

Just follow cRPGBro builds and you can roflstomp every single enemy and boss. Also, go for Angel on first playthrough because Angel is fricking strong and kino (story wise).

I literally don't want to follow build guides. If I can't beat the game on normal with the default kit they give my companions then I'll just consider myself filtered and move on to another game.

Sir this is an actual roleplaying game, if your character sheet is shit, then no matter what choices you make narratively or mechanically during combat, you are gonna eat shit.

Play some easier DnD-like game such as KOTOR first or switch genres entirely.

Let me help you out if you have never experience Pathfinder at high level:

Yes, literally every enemy in the game has stats making it basically impossible to hit them unless you yourself are buffing your own stats to absurd levels. Sorry, it's just the way it is. Enemies have 35-50AC, so unless you have maxed out your own attack bonuses and roll high, you're not even coming close. Also, the same is true for their Spell Resistance, CMD, and saves. Also, every enemy you meet auto-buffs with a full set of combat defense and stat buffs on combat start. It's just part of the way the game is programmed.

Congrats. Enjoy having to look up cheesy or broken builds and making sure you're full buffed out the ass for every single fight, and still savescumming anyway. Welcome to Pathfinder.

I think my problem is that I'm way out of my depth. Like the guy in the OP is level 19, and I'm level 10. My question is, how the frick am I supposed to know what I should be doing in order to at least have a chance of not dying? I guess there's always trial and error, but that just feels like shit.

afaik, you can beat the game using the auto-level option for the companions but making decent decisions/choices with you character on normal difficulty. also, this game is kinda of a trial and error so, be prepared for some loadings after dying in certain encounters and try to buff frequently.

Well, now you know. Pathfinder is a very specific game, and it requires very specific choices. This isn't Skyrim where enemies scale to your level and whatever you want to use is balanced to be fine. No, this is an RPG where lots of things that you CAN do, are completely trap options that either don't work or have no practical viability.

This is an RPG where if you are a level 20 Fighter, the best thing you will ever be able to do in combat is move towards an enemy and use your Attack action, and that's literally it because you have nothing else. Meanwhile the level 20 Wizard is flying around the arena casting Mass Death Fog and raining meteors down on the battlefield while being invisible, having 10 clones of himself, and being buffed out the ass. And both of these dudes are supposed to be the same power level.

Again, welcome to Pathfinder. You fricked up. Either respec and try again, or complain that it should work the way you think it should work.

Anon, there is literally an archetype for the rogue witch, Sylvan Trickster. Instead, you just randomly mixed two classes.

            Anonymous

The prebuilt guys are fine, just keep their roles in mind whenever you make your parties. Your dude in the other hand has a huge problem with his multiclass, rogues will have a hard time hitting as is, and getting level in Witch serves them zero purpose so you end up spreading your talents two completely opposite ways without any way to make them benefit from each other. Also don't take weapon focus for more than one thing ever unless you're doing something extremely specific.

Arcane casters are extremely important and since witches are debuff focused, you lose out on some of the best spells. Either Nenio or Woljif will help in that area, Ember should either debuff or blast with some fire spells, Sosiel in your OP is another extremely useful buffer. As a rule of thumb, always keep the hours/long and 10 minutes/level buffs on, everything else whenever you find a tough encounter. Have your guys flank, try to use crowd control spells strategically if you can, don't just blast, etc.

If all else fails, lower the difficulty (and no, you shouldn't play on Core for the first time around. Normal is intended for first time players)

Found your problem, bruv. Pathfinder is pretty dependent on your ability to pick the good character options from the bad. If you don't know the system, you need to start on a lower difficulty.

            Anonymous

Actual suggestion because 90% of what you are getting are people laughing at you. Don't frick around with combining classes until you know what you are doing there's a guy called Hilor that hangs out in the Drezen tavern that will let you respec your characters go to him and turn your Gnome into a Sylvan Trickster (Rogue that gets to take witch hexes). Next at level 4 with the Rogue you got an ability called "Finesse Training" that your character took with a dagger, that choice needs to be claws or whatever other weapon you plan on using my advice would be do the daggers then have your character use Daggers because there's a ton of good ones in the game and you only ever get 2 attacks with Claws which is great til you notice your other characters have 4+ attacks. Next you need to sort your feats better, never take accomplished sneak attacker, deft hands, or mythic sneak attacker and only take multiple weapon focuses if your character uses multiple different weapons what you want instead are Double Slice, Improved 2 weapon fighting, Critical Focus, and for the Mythic something like Wandering Hex.

The ghosts outside were annoying as frick. I couldn't hit them at all, and all they did was tank my con to the point I just had to rest between each of them. Of course they also have insane attack, so all they had to do was roll a 2+ to hit my literal buffed 33 AC tank. I didn't notice they gave that much exp, though.

Put Death Ward on everyone and the ghosts can't actually damage you because it blocks negative energy and that's all they do, Ember and Daeran can learn it but if you haven't gave it to them Sosiel will always know it. There's 7 in total, it's a good way to get an easy level. Haste is godtier spell, always have it active especially for tough fights, True Seeing will let you attack through his Mirror Image and Displacement, Displacement itself is also a good buff you can give your melees because it'll give a flat 50% miss chance for enemies unless they have some sort of true seeing themselves which they shouldn't this early I think

There's so much shit in this game it's easy to forgive not knowing about it until you're told, just generally consider if you're having a problem with something there's a spell/ability specifically to counter it, the more you play the more you'll learn. Also the ghosts do have a few regular spells but they shouldn't cause a wipe and they will eventually run out and stick to melee

Your rogue is fricked because of the multiclass and Camellia alongside Sosiel have medium BAB progression, use Haste and Heroism to get more attacks and increase the attack bonus, Greater Magic weapon as well if yours haven't been upgraded in a while, and make sure whatever belts they have on actually match the stats they need.

No clue, judging from what I can make out in the image:
The homies with the bloody portraits are in death's door, meaning that if they die in battle again they die for real and you have to revive them. Camellia is blind which certainly lowers your fricking chances to actually hit, have to cure that with a specific cleric spell so have Sosiel prepare that. The last one with the hunched back and red background means your characters are probably cursed or stat drained, either reduce your stats severely which also lowers you chances to hit, so heal that too.

Bufffgays seem to think that the party is packing a BFT, Skaal, and Hearth Cleric at all times. Your DPS is going to be a fricking slayer with 40 movespeed and 25 AC. He's going to hit on 18 and up after buffing on the fleshmarket meatball. Thats just how it is.

What do you mean "I'm doing something wrong". That's Greybors natural progression route. His base AC is 25. Fully buffed with equipment with what you have might hover around 40. It might as well be 4 at that point going into the threshold. IDK maybe I can turn greybor into a bear or something but clearly thats not going to work against a stormcaller.

My original character I made with no idea of what I was doing, just aping a friends build from an old campaign is sitting at fricking 52 before defensive and crane style kick in, 0 buffs. +10 more to hit than Greybor. Casts spells. Thats all pre buff too.

Well you said 25 so that's what I thought, to be fair Greybor shouldn't be the one getting attacked in the first place, it's like complaining Ember gets bodied when she's attacked

That webm is great but all the work there is your kineticist, divine smite, and his slow ass start up time when he's flatfooted. Granted, team smite is something I was shackled to like a pig on a teat my first playthrough.

Anyway, here was how I handled it my first time around. I was using dogs because I was running out of my other summons.

Keep in mind I'd usually Dispel him, I bet that'd take a good 15 AC off him and you always have access to Mark of Justice if you're leveling Seelah as a paladin, which I assume the prebuilt does. For what it's worth the webm isn't even relevant to the original argument because I didn't just pick random feats, I still think you can get by on buffs and natural levels though. Also Cam was the one doing the work

I mean you can, because I did and it's just ugly. My point is that it's miserable, Seelah is great. Ember is great. Cam is good. Most of the rest either suck shit or are pidgeonholed.

I've beat it on hard only using Hearth out of the ones you listed, I mean if your guy only has 25 ac at act 4 you're doing something wrong, Seelah has that at the beginning

Here I had a save near him, this is on normal, not using anything you listed just buffs you'll always have access to, sorry about the quality but you get the point

Red pill me on being a wizard, can I summon an army of undead shit or bears or something or is it not possible? I know in the sequel there's a lich class but I want to do it in the base game too

Wizard is great as long as you can overcome the enemy resistance or rolls.
      >oh boy time to cast my shiny new mega death spell!
      >reflex save
      >fortitude save
      >wisdom save
      >creature is immune
and then your fighter gets 5 attacks and rips the enemy a new butthole with a magic sword
You have to hyper focus on a few spells which is why sorcerer mogs wizard hard. If you want to be a Diablo 2 necromancer or sorceress forget it. Buffs are king and will be the difference between a cakewalk and a party wipe.

A caster can fill the whole screen with summons, if you wish. They are usually only good as a meat shield, but it's a damn good meat shield.
Many classes have a pet. Unlike summons, pet is incredibly strong in combat in both games.
The lich in wrath has a pet skeleton, undead party of risen NPCs, and can reanimate a squad of strong monsters you killed. Azata gets a dragon e-girl as an extra pet. Also, you can mount most pets, which pretty much allows any character to turn into a tank.

So this pretty much sums my experience. This is the first attack she did to me, and I had communal energy resistance to fire up.
Is this a joke? How is this a matter of building my character better?

You want the next level, Protection from Energy (Fire) not Resist Energy (Fire), that's 12 points of damage per level as opposed to a flat 10 reduction

I bought the game on sale and I was hoping for a thread like this
    >kingmaker
    >like wizard, pick wizard
    >have to choose TWO dump schools if you specialise
    >generalist gets force throw as their skill, a million uses but it’s damage scales off strength
    >touch attacks use strength
    >ranged spell attacks use dex
So hold on, I need strength and dex and con and int? But I don’t want to dump wisdom for skill bonuses and will saves. I also should not be a giant autismo if I’m going to rule a kingdom do I want charisma and persuasion?

    How do I wizard?

You don't want strength as a wizard, I'm sure there's some build for throw weapon but you're honestly better not going universalist, you can either go blaster if you want damage or disabler if you want to frick the enemy up so they can't do shit, just stack Int, frick Con you shouldn't be getting hit anyways, buff Dex, spare points for Wis

Try going either 18 int or 20 int (at cost of other stats) and then something like 14 or 16 dex and fill out the rest of the stats on even numbers. The MC doesn't actually need charisma and persuasion at all because any checks can be done by a party member thats with you currently. You could ungabunga the kingdom with 7 int 7 charisma perfectly fine

Ignore the people telling you not to pump iron as a wizard, the end goal of wizarding is to cast permanent dragonkind 3 and roll into people with your 60 strength chad. It's not only possible you can do it in act 4.

switch to sorcerer they use charisma instead of int, as for dex and str you don't need it you have a lvl 1 spell that gives you +20 attack bonus.

anon is wrong, Kingmaker has a few MC-only persuasion checks. Some of them are rather high for a non-focused class, but leveling this skill for both MC and the party CHAd is beneficial nonetheless.
