I droped it after 10 hours

I'm sorry but it's just not a good a game. Even by 90s standards it's barebones and plot is moronic.

I'm gonna play ni no kuni next lmao. At least that game is good right?

DQ's beauty is that it does not change its formula and stays true to its archaic JRPG tropes. If you hate said elements, you won't like any of the games.

    >Ni No Kuni
Sorry, but unless you're a woman and love grinding AND reading books, you won't like that game.

If only basic gameplay was good to begin with.
As it turns out - they build the game on a pile of shit and the only argument fans has "uum it's based!! It's how it's supposed to be!!!"

Yeah this game was boring as frick. The battle system is extremely basic and the cast has not one appealing character (unless you count Jade's sexy body). I finished the whole thing and believe me, it does not at any point get better

Also there is nothing i hate more than "British localisation blatantly made to appeal to Americans"

Dragon Quest is and always has been a game franchise about never breaching the players comfort zone or asking the player to invest more than the bare minimum. DQ has always been an extremely well designed "comfy game" in that regard, but if you actually want some kind of thrill or excitement or something, you will never find it in a Dragon Quest.

I mean, it's the most classical JRPG experience you can ask for, idk what you expected.
I also prefer less classical games but I can appreciate DQ for what it is.

I played through the entire game thinking it would get good at some point, it never did. There's like an epilogue chapter that comes after that which is apparently really good but I didn't bother.

I played it but I don't think it's really good.
It's ok for added content but I would say it's worse than the main game.

Nah you're totally right OP, it's so boring and the plot is barebones as frick for an 80 hours game (b-but it gets good 60 hours in!). You can make a 4 homies in a row JRPG that actually feels fun to play and we have over 20 years of games proving that.

I should add though that Ni no Kuni is an even worse game and if you bounced off DQ9 because it's too basic you are not going to enjoy NNK at all.

but DQ 11 does have a fast forward button for combat.

The turbo button is probably the only reason i managed to finish all those Kiseki games and also why i didn't finish Eiyuden (it doesn't have one). But I don't think it would help for those of us who don't like DQ11 because there's nothing appealing about it in the first place... if you don't giggle & shriek in delight every time a flamboyantly gay character is on the screen there's really nothing there for you
