in every scifi movie/serie, always there is a big corporation that is "big" because only have two employers, the CEO and his henchman; management, workflow and productivity are made by AIs and robots.

Actors say Hollywood want AI replica of they, get one day's pay, and their companies should own that scan, their image, their likeness and should be able to use it for the rest of eternity on any project they want. Miku is a voice synthesizer, the "Tiktok voice" is another voice synthesizer. The future is trade jobs, no robot or AI can be electricians, plumbers, locksmiths, bakers. Everybody are angry by AI and robots, but i dont remember a robot making my bread

Boston Dynamics aims to change that. AI is already being developed to be placed in machines that can perform most rudimentary daily functions. It won't be long before we invite drones into our homes to repair our broken shit (for a subscription fee that eats up half of our UBI, of course.)

Bread is chemistry. When you buy cheap toast, that was made by an assembly line robot. They mix the ingredients, knead the dough, bake it, cut it and package it.
What I'm wondering is... will automation end up getting rid of jobs to that labor is no longer necessary and abundance is achieved, so humans no longer need to work to live? Or will automation end up getting rid of jobs so that wages no longer need to be paid, and vast segments of civilization will just be left to die because nobody can ever have any money again to buy any of the things provided by industry that no longer has workers?

you guys are like 5 years behind the times, or just very ideologically driven. There are already convincing AI voices using just free tools, with emotion, breathing, all of it.

      >but I used this one tool and the result wasn't convincing!

I don't feel like playing this game with you. I can post the best examples of AI voices and you'll say they're unrealistic. Then I'll post a human voice, say it's AI, you'll call it unrealistic AI slop, then I say it's actually a human, then you stop replying. Or maybe I'll post an AI voice and say it's human, same thing.

It's the same every time. You people really think you're so good at detecting AI generated things, but it hasn't been true for years.

There is top down management designing a product for profit above all else. Whether it's a human drawing what they're told to draw in the style they're told to draw it in, or a computer, what's the difference? There will be good stuff made by passionate people, but it will be completely underground. There's already bad shit right now, but AIs would make just things even worse. In all shit when they are used for generative stuffs.

There's some good uses for AIs, but those have existed for years now. And are not the ones these hacks are hyping up.

It's a lot easier and faster to edit an image that's 90% what you want, vs making it from scratch. Also yeah the current AI 3D models aren't great for most things, but they will improve. People seem to forget that just 5+ years ago, AI image generation frickin sucked and always looked like a weird dream. The only thing it struggles with now is text, though people like to meme about hands.

We go back to the 2000s where dev times were 1-2 years tops.

This was doable because techs were not only cheaper but a lot less expensives to use too. both moneywise and hardwarewise. 3D models also didn't required 4K textures or extreme details.

                >I've seeing one when it directly lifted the signature of someone else

or maybe it made something signature-like that happened to look like someone's actual signature, that could happen too. kinda like if you just starting drawing random signatures in different styles, eventually one of them is gonna look like someone's actual signature

With these tools, maybe artists can get back to doing real art while all the mass produced corporate art is done primarily by computers.

Yes. But that is not the same as an employee artist drawing whatever the manager tells them to draw, which is the vast majority of modern "artists"

there's no passion or creativity involved. it's all market tested, targeted at a demographic, statistically calculated for maximum return on investment. That's not art. There's no soul there. Using AI to make these things changes absolutely nothing.

They'll make sure no one is ever going to be able to escape their system and gain financial freedom off of their creativity. They will be pumping out slop at lightspeed and because AI saves them so much money they will allocate it all to advertising and drown out individuals through sheer volume alone. Steam already has a similar problem with Steam greenlight and asset flips. Everything is gonna become like Steam Greenlight now.

Why can some artist literally recognize their work when they were used in gen AIs?

                Anonymous

First of all, they don't recognize their work. They might see similiarities, but that's all.

The AI analyzes the images, notices patterns, and makes "rules" so to speak. Forms associations between different aspects of the composition. Sees things like certain shapes and colors being used in certain places, associates these with certain concepts that it's given like "happy" or "human" or "rain" and then makes things using these patterns and rules that it has learned from observing the works of others. much like how a person learns

its weakness is that it can't really go beyond a human's creativity, but it can learn what people like, what a sexy woman or a majestic mountain range "means" in a sorta abstract way. Get what I'm saying?

there's no copy pasting, tracing, photobashing, nothing. It's noticing patterns and creating associations.

                Anonymous

they can literally finds artifact though, a gen AI also don't understand what things are things, they just "know" keywords. because it has no intelligence in the end, I don't even know why those are called "AIs"

                Anonymous

yeah AI isn't an accurate name for it, that's true. Feel free to show me any of these artifacts it found. All I've seen is people saying that the AI added a weird signature in the bottom and say it must have been copied from someone, but what happened is that the AI learned that these types of images usually have a signature there and so it added something signature-like.

As for these AIs not understanding what things are things, yes, they do in a way. You show it enough chairs, tell it those are chairs, and it gains an understanding of "chair-ness". It gets the basic sense of what a chair is, what it looks like, how other objects interact with it, how humans interact with it, and then applies that, sometimes in other contexts in surprising ways.

On more than one occasion I've seen "top quality" AI shit that had blurred text in the corner that was clearly from some magazine scan. It absolutely is just a glorified photobashing script.

wrong. I explained it briefly here. There is absolutely no photobashing going on and this has been proven and demonstrated repeatedly. You are repeating misinformation from internet rumors.

                >I don't even know why those are called "AIs"

Techies always recycle cliche words because they have short-term memory, but the actual society remember everything. I think because techies always are dudes in his 20s cant imagine if older people remember the trope "AIs taking jobs" since 1970, and look, consumer support and sales (the very thing that always are marketed for AIs) still employing humans

How someone integrate "AI" in a workflow and boost productivity? I work in professional, high-end IT and I remember when IBM's Watson was the hot thing but I never once seen those properly used by any company. If you find a AI software who can describe perfectly what a action or workflow should do, look like, how consolidate data of Word and Excel documents in a nice dataset for financial accounting, management accounting, tax accounting etc, then AI could replace a category of job: Accountants. But But I have a question too, if Ai already know mostly everything about other fields, why there arent robots engineers, robot zoo-technicians, robot agronomists, robot farmer?

Any company that stands to profit from AI. The AI vendors themselves of course, but also game studios who are looking to replace their staff with AI. One of the biggest obstacles towards AI adoption is the hostile mentality consumers have towards AI-produced content. And here you have a site that gets tens of millions of unique monthly visitors, Ganker being one of the biggest boards getting at least a couple of million per month. And just by hiring a couple of pajeets to slide threads day and night for less than a dollar per day, you can massively disrupt the discussion that goes on on this board.

How does AI replace the creative? No human is going to be involved in the process whatsoever? Someone has to prompt, someone has to sort and choose results. Is your point that one day AI may be employed to replace even this part of the process, and there will just be an auto factory with no human management chugging out games? Even in this wild strawman a human is at the end of the pipeline as a customer choosing the results, the ability to perceive and appreciate art is no less diminished, and this is really the ultimate deciding of art, not the artist. At any rate it can't be any worse than politicization of art. But this is just a wild strawman, and the point is that AI makes art cheaper and more people can make it, AI is nothing but a boon for art taking it out of the sterile hands of a select few.

            >but what about when nobody has jobs
This argument has been made for all time with every technological advancement reducing the need for labor, this just isn't true because really work is a scarce good being applied to ordinal applications, as work becomes less scarce it can be applied to lower orders of value, creating more easier jobs that never could exist before. Also the entire purpose of human evolution has been to reduce workloads, it is just despicable to try and go back on this.
