I feel like the instruments used in this song are very suitable to do a remake of most SoR1-2 tracks.

I feel like the instruments used in this song are very suitable to do a remake of most SoR1-2 tracks. Had Koshiro had to remake them for the Sega CD port, I'm pretty sure they would have sounded like that.

Not to get off topic, but I hadn't heard this one before and its fucking great. Do you have any more band or song recs that has that Streets of Rage feel?

Me too. It's a good tune.
      >Do you have any more band or song recs
Just search for 80s house music.

From time to time I find tunes that wouldn't look out of place in SoR but never keep track of them. Anyway, here's a few I can name right now:

Also, the "small bell" or tambourine cymbals you can hear in the boss track of SoR1 was quite common in some house songs:

Also its probably pretty well known among SoR fans, but Black box's entire Dreamland album feels very Streets of Rage to the point I'm almost convinced the composer must have listened to it

Anyone play the Ion Fury DLC? I thought the first level's music sounded pretty similar to something from SoR.

    Some 1991 club hits:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNLGfgNtiFY (this one has an instrument quite suitable for the "harder" part of "Alien Power")

Yuzo probably listened to most of these when he went clubbing with Motohiro, but it's hard to say how much they influenced him.

      Adding two more:

(this one actually reminds me to the skiing stage track in Mystic Warriors)

Sonic CD before Sonic CD (compare to "Little Planet", and the little melody that starts around 1 minute is very similar to something in Wacky Workbench)

It's funny, I thought all this acid house/techno and other early 90s electronic music had aged poorly by the mid 2000s but I look back on it today and think its aged well.
