More tinkering than the Switch but a much more robust experience overall. I've been a handheld guy most of my life and the Deck is my favorite machine that I've ever owned

Irrelevant. It's the principle of not being able to run the games. I think Fortnite is shit and Destiny 2 is a grindfest slog, but until the deck can play these games then it's not a viable product and will always be second-class to competitors that can run such things.

You're in for what is essentially just a low end, current gen pc that you can take around wherever.
You get the customization of changing your hardware settings easily, your controls easily, modding your games, and you get the simplicity of just being able to play a game and pause it whenever, or launch games with presets or low settings or playing games that aren't super next gen and just running them 60 fps no problem with no thoughts about it.
It's especially fun as an emulation machine, it's probably the most do everything device there is right now even if it has weaknesses.
I hope you like a wide variety of AAA and older/less intensive games, because that's where the deck shines, in being able to just play wherever, versatility. Hope you enjoy it.
I don't onow about you anon, but I like my deck. Finished hogwarts legacy on it, played lots of mgsv, gta4, diablo 2, persona 5, elden ring, saboteur, hades, now i will try noita dmcv and mass effect legendary edition. Feels good

I don't doubt that there's lots of other great options, but I am very pleased with my Deck. At the end of the day, the best game machine is the one that lets you play the games you want to on it
