Bad game
why did they change his face in the art?
Dunno
Why is this top 5 most hated games on Ganker?
It's a dull game that's one step above Cyberpunk cause it isn't a broken game with a horrible side kick
It insists upon itself.
Agreed Peter
I have been hating on this game nonstop since 2015 when everyone including Ganker adored it. It's not bad or anything. I could even be compelled to admit it's a good game, but I've never seen a game carried so hard by its production values and receive so much praise for it. People rag on its combat, because that's what most action players glom onto. But it's not just the combat, none of its systems feel good.
Welcome to the simple minds and tastes of plebians. Which includes 99% of the people on V as well. When this game launched I checked it out and checked out of it after a grueling 30 hours. It's brain dead awful. The potions and oils are not needed at all. I never once had to craft anything. You just spam attacks with sword and roll around like a rollie pollie. This is one of those games that was instrumental in dumbing down games. The critics hyped it up because of its graphics and its STORY! STORIES! STORY BRO! Tell me about the STORY! But does it have a good STORY! I love STORIES BRUH! BRUH! Who cares if it has shite gameplay and or none at all. It has STORY! I don't even or have ever read a book in my entire life but I love STORIES! STORIES in games BRO!
Not every popular or easy game is bad though. I thought Skyrim was great. I thought BotW was great. When I finally caved to fan pressure and played Hollow Knight, I thought it was great. I thought Elden Ring dragged a bit, but it was still great. I'm not super hardcore nor a compulsive contrarian. But I could legitimately not see what the Witcher 3 hype was about. It looked good, but otherwise it was like it copied every fad in the industry and made a worse implementation of it. The game just isn't satisfying to play. And people didn't just say "Wow great game!" and forget about it, a not insignificant number of people claim it's the greatest game of all time. Fricking what?!
Ciri was the only good part about it and she was implemented as basically a princess that needed saving
>liked skyrim
>liked botw
>liked ER
>couldnt find simple enjoyment in TW3
that all tracks, yeah
go back
All those games I liked focus on what the player can do. Over the years I've enjoyed a lot of common but fun games from Pokemon to Rollercoaster Tycoon to Battlefront to Super Mario Galaxy to Minecraft to Civilization to Portal. I also enjoy board games and sports. All these games focus on what the player can do. Heck even most Flash games focus on what the player can do. TW3 didn't feel like that. It felt like the devs had crafted this epic adventure for Geralt and gee aren't I so lucky that they brought me, the player, along for the ride.
I agree
reddit and the general public like it
Because this place has shit taste, and half of the people here are all about kids games or hentai dating sims.
i dunno, all i know is that i bought into the hype, but only managed to play it like 2 years after release and i was massively disappointed
idk if there's 1 major thing that really breaks it for me, it's more of the fact that it was an overall mediocre experience with a few good things here and there
i liked the fact that some choices have consequences that aren't so obvious, which was a first for me in regards to triple a console oriented games. i didn't like 95% of the characters or the dialogue, in fact i thought a lot of conversations were really boring and ended up skipping a fair few. the combat was really really really repetitive and not challenging (mind you i played the on the difficulty right below death march or whatever the max is called). a lot of sidequests were really meh, a few were 10/10 tho. the dlc was great. the main story was honestly really dreadful, but i generally hate stories that present themselves as "world ending threats that are coming our way as we speak but they can wait while i do this side thing first". out of all endings only one of them really fits which is the bittersweet one where she leaves, the one where she stays feels really fanboyish, the one where she dies just feels edgy. i really liked the overall vibe of the setting, but i'm a sucker for dark fantasy given my love for warhammer so idk how much that is the devs doing a good job or me just being a sucker for something i like.
i remember like 5 side quests, a few parts of the main quest, most of the 1st dlc, a bit of the 2nd dlc, and that's kinda it. the game wasn't horrible, just didn't leave me any lasting impact like other rpgs have. i jokingly played vampire the masquerade for the first time that year and i feel like that game left a bigger impact on me than anything from the witcher 3
I agree the main story was dull
It has a lot of overwhelming busy work that you don't know is busy work until it's too late. Large monster kills for repetetive trophy bonuses and mutigens. Dumb side quests that reward frick all sometimes paltry gold which is useless.
Witcher quests that usually give you some garbage armor or weapon. Absolutely outclassed by the Witcher gear you already have
The rest are all overkill garbage ingredients for potions you don't need or armor/weapon crafts that you won't do bc once again all witcher gear is significantly better.
You finally reach the viking shithole slog and see an ocean (literally) of ?'s. You already have the best armor and weapons. Nothing you get going forward matters. Nothing. DLC still too eh? Hope you're in it for the story. Your character ain't getting new shit.
it was fun though. i enjoyed playing it
yeah but if i had to do it over knowing what i did id' just do witcher missions, the craft ?, and buy the ingredients for the chosen witcher geaer and saved 40 hours.
I tried to play it and almost finished the opening section of Gerald's dream where he fricked Yennefer.
ac valhalla is better
Unfortunately I agree storywise
Gameplay wise it's a bit of a toss up cause AC is still broken
The game honestly should have let you frick both Yen and Triss without consequences.
Truth
I tried to hate this for about 20 hours but the game eventually won me over. Its long yes. I want to go back and do all the little side missions for the dlc but I'm definitely not doing the main story again. The B&W city is kino and always pops back into my mind every now and then.
Still better than Elden Ring
no, they are both bad but at least Elden prostitute has really challenging gameplay. Witcher is just brain dead when it comes to that.
>has really challenging gameplay
No Fromsoft games are challenging unless you are absolute trash at video games. I tried Dark Souls 1 because all my normal gay friends said it was so heckin hard. I killed all the bosses in 23 hours.
Dude come on, thats like what a ten year old would say.
Everything after the battle of Kaer Morhen kinda sucks. The expansions are better than the main game.
The whole time after that I was thinking why am I still doing this why isn't the story over
I dunno what's Ganker's hate-boner for Witcher? It was a fantastic game with good story-telling, artwork, scenery and music. Gameplay wasn't that frustrating either. Characters were also amazing and it actually motivated me to read all of sapkowski's novels, which were great.
they seethe cause its made by poles. Ganker only sucks off nip shit
It's bad
>I dunno what's Ganker's hate-boner for Witcher?
Bad gameplay, which is pretty bad to have in a video game.
Lack of air combos and just-frame inputs really bring it down.
game sucks
true
Been replaying the game and it's actually better than I remember. Biggest flaws are boring traversal and being able to abuse inventory pause for heals and other upkeep mechanics.
