I forgot how terrible this boss is.

I forgot how terrible this boss is. It's on the level of that one chalice dungeon boss from Bloodborne with the glitchy hooks. It's like they set out to design a really, really shitty Monster Hunter boss and then put it in this game for some unknown reason.

he's pretty easy once you learn his move sets

It's the moveset that's the problem. It has the back and forth charge, shitty divebomb with unending attack frames so you can dodge and still get hit and a moronic laser beam attack. It really is like the moveset of at least half the monsters in Monster Hunter.

All of those attacks are pretty easy to dodge especially when you fight them in their craters, the laser becomes a total non-issue due to differences in elevation

If it's a Monster Hunter boss, then fight it like a Monster Hunter boss. Position yourself out of attacks, and attack during openings. Pretty sure you have more i-frames in ER, so you can use that to push your openings a bit more. Roll attacks still exist in ER, right?

Love me some Elden Rang but the design of many bosses and the “difficulty” is so incongruent with how they’ve made games before.
Idk how they went from making such a technical masterpiece in Sekiro to such a cluster frick in elden ring

Can't you just use a blunt weapon for massive damage? It works against the stupid crystal homosexuals

it's not a crystal enemy and it has the same high resistance against all physical damage types.
jumping attacks or spells to hit its head for bonus damage works the best.

I just hate the design. Looks ugly and uninspired, like most enemies in Elder Ring.

Most bosses in ER are miserable slogs and then you just ring the bell for some ashes to end the pain.

I'm convinced this board is full of mentally moronic children. This is possibly one of the least offensive bosses in ER, with straightforward attacks and patterns. There's no bullshit hitboxes, there's no "gotcha" moves where it knowledge checks you, it just has high defense. What's the hard part? ER gives you a trillion times more i-frames than MonHun anyways.

      >there's no "gotcha" moves where it knowledge checks you
the AoE gravity attack where it launches you into the air and then slams you into the ground, you won't know the tell the first time it does it and that you need to immediately run the frick away

Have you never played a video game? That is the biggest "MOVE b***h" telegraph an action game can give you.

except he does the same, but faster, when summoning the stone pillars under you
you have not never been hit by this attack and you're lying if you deny it

That move is arguably more telegraphed with the particle phsyics directly under your feet and the beast lifting its head when its about to cast the spell. Just quit being so bad bro.

Because whether I get hit by it or not isnt the point. Your complaining that they are attacks that you have to get hit with first to understand. Honestly if you picked a different boss I would probably agree with you, but Falling star Beast is pretty telegraphed in its attacks and if you cant use context clues to understand them than you need to upgrade your grey matter cuz one day it may matter.

      >ER gives you a trillion times more i-frames than MonHun anyways.
MonHun monsters aren't as cheap. they're a lot more honest and straightforward in their telegraphing. Elden ring's combat philosophy when designing bosses and to a lesser extent enemies was to give them plenty of delayed and minimally telegraphed attacks to make players miss time their dodges. their attachment to I-frame centric combat made their playerbase too good at fighting bosses so this was the only way to increase the difficulty from ds3. (this was necessary since difficulty is one of their main selling points)

Nah it's shit. Too much tracking, annoying AoEs, choppy animations, too much reach invalidating your positioning...

Like most sub-par ER bosses it wouldn't be a problem if you didn't fight it like 15 times.

You can stagger it if you bonk it in the head while he's charging, which is pretty cool.

Elden Ring is pretty easy tbh, I never played a Souls game prior and beat everything w.o using summons or buffs. I did use Bloodhound Blade though, which I understand is one of the strongest, though it easily one of the funnest weapons. I imagine if you min-max properly and use those the game is kind of braindead. Theres plenty of one-shot builds to use; and even if you refuse plenty of ways to prepare. Hell the open-world works in your favor since you can get later game shit at the start.
