Try 40k. It has arguably better lore even than pre-mouse wars. Then again both 40k and SW were heavily influenced by Dune. Maybe I should read the thing.

40k suffers from goldfish memory syndrome, GW can't even remember their basic shit like the numbers associated with legion
it is also fairly boring most of the time
        >Smegma sector, of Ballsackus quadrant was invaded by Scrotum the Engorged who laid siege to holy planet of Vulvinia IV, Eclesiarch Pussymius the Venerated turned traitor, proclaiming his secession from Imperium

Imperium books can have a fair amount of cliché in them but I found the xeno and traitor ones to be fun
          >500.000.000 men died on the first day in manifactorum accident
          sounds like ancient China

No one actually knows why Tolkien didn't like Dune.

It could be because it conflicted with his sense of morality or his general worldview.

But it could also be because Tolkien hated allegory, and Dune had multiple obvious allegories.

Or because Tolkien was a word nerd who loved to play with language and Dune's prose is rather direct and unadorned. He also enjoyed lush, poetic descriptions of things and Dune could be somewhat short of details.

Or because Tolkien believed that stories should have happy, uplifting endings and Dune's ending was intentionally ominous.

Or Tolkien just didn't like sci-fi. Or he didn't like Dune's weird twist on sci-fi.

            We don't know.

Or it could be that Herbert was a big ideas type of writer who didn't focus very much on descriptions and his interest in nature was on a very macro scale, while Tolkien was the guy who would spend an hour studying one tree and wrote accordingly.

I think it's because sentences look a lot longer in the reply window than they actually are, so people think they've written a whole paragraph and add a blank line. Otherwise it's the meme that it's a reddit style, which I wouldn't know about since I don't know how writing posts there works
