Alex Casey is such a weird character; it's weird how they expect you to treat the "real world" version of him as "real" when it's strange he shares so much in common with the fictional character. It really leads me to believe that we don't see the "real world" at all in AW2, it's all just part of Alan's story in his endless attempts of escape. Mr. Door even asks "are we all just characters in your story" so that adds further credence to the theory.

      Anonymous

Alan *says* that he can't write a character out of nothing, so the Alex Casey he writes in the Dark Place is essentially a reflection of the real-world Casey, and the art that happens there to Alan's Casey ends up affecting the real-world Casey too, eg The Casey in Yotton-Yo being trapped in the Dark Place just like the real Casey is at the end of the game
but to be honest i think Alan is lying when he says that, i think he is able to create new people and he just lies about it to Saga because he made her up, and he just doesn't want her to deal with the fact that she, her family and Casey were all just made up by Dollar-store Stephen King to make his horror story better

        Anonymous

I tried writing a post in which I explained what I mean, but it's ultimately pointless. Suffice to say that everything about "real" Casey is so odd I refuse to believe the Return part of the game is actually set in the real world, but is instead another one of Alan's attempts to influence the real world, meaning since it's his story he CAN create something from nothing (i.e. he can use Alex Casey as a character in the ostensible "real world" because it isn't real.)

      >Mr. Door even asks "are we all just characters in your story" so that adds further credence to the theory.
to be fair i don't think that was him asking if everyone was made up by the story, i think he was more talking about people becoming part of the story and being used by it
the same thing happens with Ahti, we know from Control that he's an interdimensional Finnish Janitor god or whatever but he still gets trapped in the story in the real world, and you can revisit him in the Retirement home in the later parts of Saga's story where he has a bunch of secret dialogue talking about how he's been trapped here somehow, because he knows he should be able to do whatever but the story requires him to be stuck there so he is

              >It was about half a year between the foundation and AWE dlcs for control
IIRC AWE came out more than a year after the EGS release, and shortly after that they re-released the ultimate edition on steam.
The Foundation was about 6 months after the August 2019 release, and we're way past that point with AW2. You think they got any plans for a physical Collector's Edition?

yeah, they did but her canonical dad is now black and based, so it's the least offensive "blackwashing" to ever exist.

      Anonymous

Yeah. You see her very briefly in an easter egg in another game they did as a blonde white woman, and then when Alan Wake 2 comes out she's a negress. gays have been trying to cope and claim it's totally canon and makes perfect sense.

      Anonymous

She was white for a total of 10 seconds in an easter egg video tucked away in an unrelated game nearly 10 years before AW2 released.
That easter egg video was more of a very rough draft than anything concrete.
There's a reason why she's black now, as she's the daughter of the black guy who's supposed to be an analogue to the one from Quantum Break. It's meta shit that fits entirely within the game's narrative, and as other anons have pointed out, the only people crying about it are culture war gays that do not play videogames.

She was not, she did a horrible job at voice acting and you could clearly hear her poor American accent break repeatedly throughout the entire game. I'm still laughing at her getting nominated for best VA role in the game when Alex and Casey's VA's are (were) a thing. She only got nominated because there's a quota for women nominees, not because she was good.

NTA. No. There are two voice performances in the game, that are outright bad and hers is one. She is a great blemish on the entire voice catalogue of Remedy, especially their protagonists. And no it's not her script being bad, there are decent amount of moments there, that she could've sold, but her performance is utterly unconvincing during them. Saga is at her best when she's boring and droning and that's a fact.
