easy mode is why it's shit
play on either Broken Bones or Death March, install community patch and fix scaling for various animals like rrat with level scaling enemies
personally i play with No Levels and a bunch of mini fixes like Axii Delusion

Playing 2 for the first time right now, is Dark mode bullshit or am I just bad
I get my shit pushed in by fricking Nekkers because they backstab and the warriors seem to dodge every swing
I'm almost tempted to just skip it and go back to 3

Yeah, the difficulty is bulshit in this one, play on normal if it's your first time, use rolls, Quen, bombs and potions. Witcher 3 basically got rid of any challenge

it's funny because i had no issues with witcher 2 on dark mode but died a few times on 3 (vs the frog, vs iris' worst nightmare but i was doing the challenge to fight all 6 clones at once, one time to detlaff cause hitbox on his batrush attack was bigger than i thought)
they're both easy games but it felt like 3 had some moments where you get oneshot whereas everything was controllable in 2

The first talent I got on 2 is the one that makes you immune to backstab extra damage. Have no idea how someone would play without it.

the nekkers in chapter 1 are the hardest part of the game on dark mode
everything after that will be a joke and very easy for you

thing i always found funny with witcher 2 is the hardest parts are early random trash opponents
the tutorial is probably harder than anything in the actual game

The combat isn't shit exactly, but it's so easy it doesn't really matter what difficulty you play. May as well go death march so you'll at least die when you REALLY frick up.
Not sure why people meme about quen being overpowered when sidestep dodges are so easy to abuse and have zero penalty, and Alchemy builds can be absurdly broken too.

Dark mode is absolutely brutal, although much of 2's difficulty comes down to how clunky the combat is tbqh.

Dark mode isn't worth it unless you mod the dogshit screen filter out of the dark gear
I played through on Insanity and it truly wasn't worth it

Death march just make enemies spongy, just don't use quen. Also play Witcher 2 first

It's not as bad people make it out to be, just gets old eventually since pretty much all enemies behave the same.
Play on max difficulty, anything else is extremely dull.

    Yes.
    t. played on deathmarch

The game isn't difficult because your gear rapidly outscales everything in the game. So your difficulty selection really only affects the first 4-8 hours. Basically as soon as you get your first full Witcher gear set everything becomes irrelevant.
I'd recommend ramping your difficulty, ie. Start the game on Normal and increasing it as you play and find it too easy.
I also highly recommend the mods that tweak Relic weapons and Trophies. Otherwise ALL relic weapons are just very expensive trash and trophies are just kind of boring. With the mods I at least found some reason to use non-Witcher weapons. There is never a reason to use non-Witcher armor.

I remember this Cutscene and looking at the Sword in my inventory afterward.
The stats were so bad that I tried to give it back.

No, and it's more fun on DM
I'd recommend playing W2 on easy, in that game combat is actually atrocious

The difficulty is Oblivion levels of bad.
There is no real fix, you can try enabling enemie level scaling up to your own, but the rewards will still be shit.
Try playing on normal or Blood and broken bones and with different abilities, while ignoring Quen.

No, the combat isn't that shit, it's just quite simple. Go death march tbh. Or one difficulty lower if you find it too bothersome.

Then suffer with the B&W DLC va the fricking elvish golems

The real question is, Triss or Yen? Im gonna play it again but I went for Triss my first playthrough since I really liked her in 2

If it's between the two, Triss any day because Yen is walking garbage and an objectively terrible person.
Otherwise, neither. Go frick every side girl and chill with the bros. Ciri can fricking die too.

        Propaganda

Triss literally made Geralt wipe her ass full of diarrhea , that's nasty!

        That NEVER happened

          >Initially it seemed nasty but not too serious, resembling an ordinary stomach upset. Geralt and Ciri discreetly tried to take no notice of the stops the enchantress’s ailment necessitated. Triss, as pale as death, beaded with sweat and painfully contorted, tried to continue riding for several hours longer, but at about midday, and having spent an abnormally long time in the bushes by the road, she was no longer in any condition to sit on a saddle.

You can't have Shani, dumbass. She's cute, but she's one of those "muh career" women.
It's like saying Essi Daven, even though Geralt chose to frick off and she subsequently died alone of the plague (brought back by Ciri after going off on a planet hopping spree inadvertently started by Yennefer being a stupid prostitute)

Only if you want it to be easy.

Death March is the only remotely engaging mode. Just poke and quickstep a lot until you learn enemy patterns.

The normal mode is already the easy mode, unless you are playing on death march it'll be a breeze.
