    >Is it worth a play?
Do you like extremely generic JRPGs?

I used to until I got bored of the lack of challenge. I was under the impression there was something noteworthy about this series' battle system since it was popular for a while.

If it was good it would still be popular. It WAS popular because it released on a nintendo console and they will praise anything.

          No, it's shit.

          >If it was good it would still be popular.
Yes, the battle system WAS good, but this game ruined it.

it "ruined" it because it released on PC lol

It was shit on Switch and it's still shit on PC because they changed the battle system between Bravely Second and Bravely Default II. It has nothing to do with exclusivity.

No. Play through the original Bravely Default, and maybe Bravely Second

I'm a PClard who emulated the games. The original BD has a great battle system

I remember trying to emulate the first one, being unable to move after the first cutscene no matter how much I tried with the key settings, and assuming I lacked some touchscreen feature from the original hardware. Was I just moronic?

Yes, probably. I used the plain keyboard to beat the entire game. I think the only gimmick is having to set up 2 different movement keys - one for regular movement (I used arrow keys), one for menu movement (I used numpad)

It was popular because its a ff5 which people are desperate for.

I for one am glad we are getting multiple spiritual successors to FF5

Name some games like Bravely Default 2. That were released in the last 5 years.

Generic? You never played the fricking game. JRPGs with extensive job systems are very rare. This game most certainly isn't generic.

If you want to play the modern equivalent of FF5, then you play this.

Does android emulate the first game well? Only jrpg i have played Is ffv and I really loved the way the classes work and I heard bravely default has a similar system + better story

      >+ better story
You heard wrong. The story is by far the worst part of the bravely games.

Oh that's surprising to me, I remember people talking about how good the finale and twists were after the game was released

I liked it a lot more than Octopath, the boss fights are actually lots of fun (provided you're not just a moron spamming one broken skill the whole game) and the story is not complete ass, the localization is really nice and has DQ vibes. 24 jobs to choose from, can't think of any other game that has this many.

Also, the game is completely standalone, no relation to Bravely Default/Second whatsoever. If they ever make a sequel to those, it would be called Bravely Third.

The biggest problem with this game are the simplistic and a bit weird-looking chibi character models. And that's a very superficial (good) problem to have.

It isn't the simplicity, they are just a bit weird. You get used to it quickly, but the character models in the original 3DS game are objectively more "simplistic", but look much better.

        >The biggest problem with this game are the simplistic and a bit weird-looking chibi character models.

I found that to be one of the better points, myself. As of late I've been very much thinking about the kind of old school, not necessarily chibi, but generally more exaggerated almost figure like design a lot of games had gave a lot of the genre a more obvious sense of style and identity. It gives it an almost exaggerated fairy tale look and thinks just seem to pop more when it comes to the drama without needing to over explain shit as much. You look at the newer final fantasy games, or even a a lot of new RPGs in general and at a glance there's really nothing to make them look distinct from the typical action adventure game. In fact if not for a turn based battle system they'd almost be exactly the same. But with the more model esque aesthetic I dunno, thinks just feel more, I don't want to say subtle, but they let things speak for themselves when the biggest action events look more like puppets. And I sort of miss that about a lot these games. I genuinely feel there's more empathy and charm in a simple group fist pump or laughter or depressed shrug in something liked BD or Alliance alive than any over dramatized action set peace in FFXIII
