Launched with a paucity of content. 343 actually worked to fix it, and had quite a bit of good shit added within the first 3 months, but initial impressions matter
no i'm just moronic. as the Halo games got less and less blood I found the firefights to be increasingly stale. Combined with the floaty, glitchy ragdoll physics it just started feel like shooting at styrofoam. nothing felt visceral anymore, whereas in Halo 1 a grenade into a group of jackals and grunts painted the room purple and blue. after clearing an area you could turn around and admire the massacre of scorch marks, bullet holes, bodies and blood. it felt like I was leaving a mark on the levels instead of neatly sliding through them leaving them as clean and stale as when I started
I liked the Far Cry gameplay in a Halo context with Infinite.
But yeah, everything else is shit and missed opportunities.
And somehow they managed to made a show worse than any of 343's bullshit.
With all the shit going on in the world right now I'm a having a lot whole of nostalgia playing old Halo games, Gears of war and so on.

then it just a matter of preference if you want fast or low TTK with the ace gun, but the role of both guns is the same

Actually, I just found out that with half a mag you could kill a fully shielded player at mid to close range, so with even less than that you could get beatdowns

And the PvP didn't have that same level of care as halo's from what I played. Crossing my fingers that their new IP that's supposed to be out in 2025 will be good.

Launched with a paucity of content. 343 actually worked to fix it, and had quite a bit of good shit added within the first 3 months, but initial impressions matter

no i'm just moronic. as the Halo games got less and less blood I found the firefights to be increasingly stale. Combined with the floaty, glitchy ragdoll physics it just started feel like shooting at styrofoam. nothing felt visceral anymore, whereas in Halo 1 a grenade into a group of jackals and grunts painted the room purple and blue. after clearing an area you could turn around and admire the massacre of scorch marks, bullet holes, bodies and blood. it felt like I was leaving a mark on the levels instead of neatly sliding through them leaving them as clean and stale as when I started

I liked the Far Cry gameplay in a Halo context with Infinite.
But yeah, everything else is shit and missed opportunities.
And somehow they managed to made a show worse than any of 343's bullshit.
With all the shit going on in the world right now I'm a having a lot whole of nostalgia playing old Halo games, Gears of war and so on.
Knowning that I can never go back to that era fricking hurts
