And yet people reset when their favorite unit dies in the old FE games making permadeath pointless

Can you ruin your game if everyone dies and you save anyways?

If it’s just your Lord alive? Probably, doubt you could solo all the remaining chapters without a healer

That’s just a dumb self imposed challenge, the games were designed for you to be able to move on from units death

Can you ruin your game if everyone dies and you save anyways?

Honestly no, unless you are purposely being a moron, the games gives you enough ways to work around that

      >making permadeath pointless
Brainlets like you don't understand that the difference it makes is HOW you play.

Knowing a wrong move could potentially kill a unit, making a restart necessary, makes you play COMPLETELY different than 3H's "all units to the frontline YOLO they're all OP anyway and on the offchance one actually gets killed - rewind lol" gameplay.

You morons always throw in restarts as if it's an epic gottem, yet missing the point entirely. Nobody wants to restart which is why permadeath actually made people play better.

If they have to keep the turn wheel, I’d like it to go back to how it works in SoV. A lot less uses and you can’t activate it if the lord dies. Also maybe restrict your ability to rewind to the start of the prior player phase.

Even on hard most of your characters become OP nigh-unkillable mass murder machines, it just takes a bit longer.
Only Maddening really stays difficult, but that's more due to moronic gotcha moments than anything else

Maddening doesn't really stay difficult past the first 10 or so chapters.

They should have a fatigue/injury system where if you use a character too much they get weaker and tired and deaths make them injured/not playable for the next few fights

Thracia had fatigue. In practice it just meant you either bought a bunch of anti-fatigue potions, or fielded a wider army to account for the fact they wouldn't always all be there.

Thracia's fatigue system works because of several reasons. It isn't a particularly harsh system where you're constantly having to manage who takes how many actions to prevent your entire squad from getting exhausted every map, you'd be hard-pressed to ever exhaust that many units at once and the penalty for exhaustion is just sitting them out for a single chapter. Being based on max HP means the units it affects most are the low HP staff-users, which works out because staves are so powerful that they break that game in half so having a more severe limit on how many actions you can get out of them balances them out a bit. Mounted units cannot mount in-doors and while unmounted suffer stat losses and an inability to use any non-sword weapon class, and there are many in-door maps, so you already have reason to rotate which units you field on a given chapter anyway. And while S. Drinks exist to cheat the system they are rare, only appearing in a couple of shops for a high price and otherwise being limited to items from enemies that typically try to escape the map like Thieves, which you have to take risks to capture, or as a reward for fulfilling some bonus objective like escorting escaping citizens in 14x. So you either spend resources that could go to anything else or have to play better to earn them. All in all a good system that succeeds at what it was designed for; getting the player to not field the exact same units in every single chapter.

    >I like permadeath in fire emblem games,
Why? It’s moronic and the characters don’t even react to their friends deaths, it was never properly implemented in modern FE.

You are moronic for playing the games the wrong way, its properly implemented gameplaywise, storywise characters have never been properly implemented because its expected for them to die

Play Kaga Saga if you haven't. Tear Ring Saga is spectacular if you like older Fire Emblem games.

    It is over.

3H was my first nu-FE, and the franchise would've been better off dead imo.

The strategy layer is completely broken in favour of the player.
OP healing range, gambits being free hits, jack of all trades classes, multiple OP skills, units almost taking no dmg(even on hard mind u, I played before they patched in another difficulty), etc.
The level of attention needed by the player has been reduced to an absolute minimum.
Most of the maps are plain and too linear. Many are outright bad.
Overall it's just dull and unengaging for an FE, and it pretty much plays itself. You literally can't do wrong.
Which would explain why most of the conversation about the game regards waifus and husbandos...
Didn't care for the social aspect either, and the supports being almost all small talk and slice of life shit.

    It is over.

While I don’t think maddening is a good difficulty mode as most of the problems of 3H stem from player controlled mechanics, it does provide a slight challenge. Everything has inflated stats which means you have to properly engage them so you don’t die, and experience formula gets modified so you can’t get too far ahead unless you throw all of the experience to one unit.
3H suffers from everyone being too free form and classes having minimal restrictions. Maps can’t be built around having Claude as an archer because you might have made him a mage instead, or you might be playing that map with the Blue Lions and their units have different strengths and weaknesses, so all of the enemies are rather generic.
