    >TLOU IS A MOBIE GAME NOOOOOOOOO THERES NO GAMEPLAY ONLY MOOOOBIE
mgs games have more cutscenes and codec calls than tlou

    >TLOU IS WOKE FULL WOKE!!!!!!!!!!
    TLOU2 sure, but TLOU1? what's woke about TLOU1?

great soundtrack, good gameplay, great story.
TLOU1 is better than TLOU2 storywise, but gameplay wise TLOU2 is amazing, and if you're shitting on TLOU2 gameplay you didn't play the game.

the last of us 2 has gigantic empty hallways where you hold forward and the characters talk. there are no mechanics, no failure or success, no game. just walking and talking forever
please tell me you were not tricked into thinking those are better than skippable cutscenes

Sounds like MGS. Get a codec, walk two steps to get another codec. Walk a few more steps get a cutscene. Walk a few more steps and it’s a tutorial codec call.

        >large empty hallways where you hold forward
Sure, the first five minutes when you boot up the game. That’s called an INTRODUCTORY section.

the way you Black folk describe this game it makes it insanely painfully obvious you haven’t played beyond Clicking Start on YouTube

So every chapter should start with clickers running towards you and you're taking them down with m16?
No story related cutscenes and dialogues in the game at all?

          >durrr it wood be a bideo gaem then xDD
Black folk feel the need to be so reductive when it comes to TLOU. Like the game is a fricking Telltale title.

TLOU unironically has tons of gameplay, TLOU2 is even triple the length of the first game.

but Gankerirgins likes to shit on the game they never even played because random youtuber said so, classic sheep mentality

              >TLOU2 is even triple the length of the first game.
And most of it is just walking, talking, and experiencing basic third person shooter and stealth mechanics combined with constant emotional manipulation.

what's the point of playing the game if you're going to skip the cutscenes?

the point of playing a game is playing a game. not watching a bad hbo series

It’s alright. I definitely feel like its messaging was a bit more heavy handed than 1’s. With part 1, sure a whole bunch of wild stuff happens at the end but people still had multiple takeaways. At the end of 2, there were many takeaways but along the way it felt like Naughty Dog really hated when the playtesters didn’t understand the writers vision, so there’s a lot of heavy handed moments like extended fetch with a dog you killed and immediately opening Abby’s story with flashback of her dad being the best person in the entire apocalypse with not a singular flaw. If they kept the game largely the same but cut back on these “HEY WE NEED TO TELL YOU WHAT’S WHAT” big moments I think I would’ve been less sour. It’s close to being a worthy sequel. So close.

He was always a good guy, sorry you failed your media literacy test when playing the first one.

dude chill. you're responding in a baity way that's not conducive for conversation. I like the game and I kind of agree with him, just don't think it's a significant enough of a flaw and I can even MAYBE excuse it because Ive never given a frick about "subtle" storytelling. Silent Hill 2 is considered "subtle" and that games story arguably suffers because of it. Plus there's an irony to the fact that it's actually NOT subtle at all and once you realize that you realize that "subtlety" usually just masks bad writing

anyway the thematic substance is what matters and in Abby's case...the point of showing her moronic dad...I don't think it was contrived or heavy handed, and I don't think it was good either. But I'm not sure how else they should have shown or depicted him. Maybe cut out all the zebra stuff?

But something I wonder. Because the game is DEFINITELY on Joel's side. Is whether there was a point to that.

Okay bare with me for a second, I'm doing some "on the fly thinking". something unique about mediums for writing is EXACTLY that they can be "contrived" not literally speaking, but in essence. They can show us aspects of people we would NEVER see in real life, circumstances or experience that ARE real but we'd simply never know.

In the case of Abby's dad, showing him as this PERFECT person and STILL affirming Joel's decision is...kinda neat. It's interesting, it's using an "extreme" to make the decision have more weight. If he was just some random shithead that happened to be a doctor, and had no kid or anything, it'd be kinda "whatever" I never thought the decision was nuanced in the original game anyway, the first games writing isn't good enough for that. Joel is unequivocally right and there's no question. But the sequel tries to give some depth to that decision. It's only a meaningful decision if it's a hard one, or one with consequence. And Joel's consequence was Abby.

Maybe he needed to be "perfect" for Joel's decision to mean so much.

        >He was always a good guy
Yes, because "good guys" coperate with selfi-righteous child murdering terrorists who most likely only want a "vaccine" to have a bargaining chip and see nothing wrong with someone like Joel getting backstabbed so that his adoptive daughter can be kidnapped, taken to a surgery table and butchered for a 'cure' that totally might just work.

Abby was apparently a troony even though unlike Ellie, she's a heterosexual woman. Ellie is a dyke that unironically insulted a man trying to make amends with "bigot sandwiches". Abby is unironically more kind, people just shit on her for being upset and not in a good mental state due to trauma and wanting revenge over her DAD getting killed

Also Abby beats the ever living shit out of Ellie and her dyke gf, giving them both ptsd, scarring them for life, and also ruining their relationship and making them break up. But to Ganker this is bad and she's a troony because she has muscle and wanted revenge for her father
