Deus Ex is more friendly introduction into the dystopia, 1984 described the psychological subversion and workings of dystopian state in more detail. DX is fun while being informative, 1984 I found to be terrifying and somewhat hard to read though admittedly I was a kid when I read it.

tl;dr but people who just start listing "smart" games as their "favorites" are all insufferable morons trying to be "cool" by naming games everyone already knows like Planescape Torment or Persona 2.

i would not call Persona 2 a "smart" game it's just cool cause you fight Hitler with the lance of Longinus

I wouldn't either but it fits the "my taste is just superior" brainless choices. You hear people talk about that game like it's a literary masterpiece when it's anime SMT.

Thinking all vidya is like super mario is akin to thinking all movies are capeshit or all books are children paint-books.

        Anonymous

no it's not and you're wrong. every game ever made is just bing bing wahoo problem solving. you can abstract it with shitty motion capture or wikipedia lore dumps but it's just bing bing wahoo for manchildren. film and books are doing so many more things and working on so many more levels its not comparable. low IQs love mentioning how combining interactivity, audio and visual makes it a superior artform but they miss the point of the purity of a medium.

nothing wrong with playing games, just deal with the reality of what they are/

That’s fine anon. Everybody is different. Just because I still like vidya doesn’t mean you have to. If you find stuff like books or movies more interesting there’s nothing wrong with that

I can absolutely, 100% guarantee to you that this poor child does not enjoy movies or books. If he actually did, he would have no reason to desperately beg for attention here, desperately plea other to recognize him as cool.

People who enjoy proper literature or cinema aren't usually so insecure to need to seek out other media's communities and then start telling everyone how "above that media they are".

Fun fact - people who can appreciate good literature, do it because they appreciate good fiction. They don't give a frick what form is it presented, they don't need to disparage entire other media, in fact they likely actually go out of their way to find other stuff to enjoy in them.

Appreciation stems from the ability to look for good things. Regardless of format, or medium.
