Anon, as someone who fricking loves Final Fnatasy, I think you're in the wrong franchise.
Every game makes use of stereotypes to some degree, and no game in this franchise really has any choice to speak of outside of gameplay-based ones in games where the job system is heavily used.
Best I can recommend you is probably Final Fantasy Tactics, It's a widely beloved game but even then that's a crapshoot for what you're looking for.

Many of Square's employees were women. Like the person who did the sprites for FFVI also did the manual art for their e-girlta Game 'Alpha'. All of Amano Yoshitaka's illustrations had a homo-erotic vibe for that reason before he retired and they started hiring other artists to make all the men look like K-Pop stars.

It doesn't. Ever. They're generally not good games, they're not the best JRPGs in their respective fields unless you really like a certain style.

I - III are really their own deal
IV & V their own small set too with a larger focus on narrative and battle
VI is the middle ground between V & VII and is the best game in the series for people who hate VII and for some reason never played IX or XII
VII is VI again but in a modern setting with more gameplay stripped out
VIII is the same shit again but now we're doing gimmicks
IX is a director returning to try and make a classic FF and is for some the best FF like VI or overrated
X is just VII & VIII again but no sci-fi
X-2 is the perverted fantasy of a man who loves transformation scenes
XI is an MMO made by a team who didn't play MMO's
XII is an SRPG with an MMO style battle system (kinda but not kinda), planning and an amazing story/setting/follow up to FF tactics by a man who makes SRPGs who had a meltdown, quit the industry and had the director of V, VI & IX take his place to finish the game
XIII is the perverted fantasy of a man who loves transformation scenes when he's told to make FF VII again but not FF VII
XIII-2 is the perverted fantasy of a man who loves transformation scenes who said "I'll do it right this time, for my waifu lightning, this will redeem her character" then he kind of forgot to have her in the game
LIGHTNING RETURNS: FINAL FANTASY XIII is the perverted fantasy of a man who loves transformation scenes who said "i'll do it right this time, for my waifu lighting, this will redeem her character, for reals this time" but he made a dress up simulator based on a nonsensical plot in the future barely connected to the other 2 games
XIV 1.0 was an MMO made by a team who didn't play MMO's but made an MMO before
XV was the other star studded XIII game that was in development hell for so long that it changed hands and XIII's sequels got greenlit.

And that's FF. They all fricking suck.

You call this an epic story? It’s like a constant stream of out-of-nowhere betrayals, revelations and deus ex machinas arranged into something that somewhat resembles a coherent story. Half the characters don’t stick around or get killed off too fast for you to form any sort of attachment to them. And the big bad villain… isn’t a big bad villain at all, he’s controlled by a bigger, badder villain you don’t learn about until the ass end of the game! How’s that for awesome plotting?

At least back on the SNES you had the excuse of a bad translation to cover all of the gaping plot holes, but once the game was “properly” presented… it turns out it’s just as dumb! Plus, it’s clear Square didn’t really test the whole Active Time Battle thing out like they should have. Sure, I can see why powerful spells take longer to cast… but they’re totally worthless if I can deal just as much – if not more – damage with regular attacks before the spells finish chanting. Speaking of worthless, how about that Edward, eh? He’s possibly the worst meat shield to ever grace a Final Fantasy game – except he doesn’t even function as that. Go ahead and hide some more, sissy-boy.

It depends on why you didn't like 4. Some people just dont connect well with older games.

If your normally like older game try
      6 or 9

For a more modern feel try
      10 or 13

      For complexity try
      12

      For more action focus try
      15

      If you like MMO's try
      14

Some "people" are just straight up ADHD riddled zoomers, the type of people who can't be bothered to insert a fricking apostrophe in a sentence but can slam the enter key over 16 times.

Okay grandpa, time for your pudding.

Some genres just age worse. JRPGs from that time are really simplistic.

            Jesus fricking christ.
Imagine making a post that apes the style of a stroke victim and then having the audacity to call someone else a grandpa.

It's not some genres just "aging worse", it's not about JRPG's "from that time" either as other studios were slamming out some absolutely amazing JRPG's in the same time period and they were vastly more complex.
Please, get a hold of yourself or go see a doctor about your stroke.

V for gameplay with lackluster story
VI for better story with lackluster gameplay
1 for a simple short and sweet fantasy RPG
IX is best when you enjoyed the classics first and since you didn't like IV I don't know if you'll enjoy any of the others honestly
